## What is Tech Unicorn?

Build your next company from a tiny startup into a billion-dollar tech unicorn.

Tech Unicorn is a strategy simulation game about product bets, hiring, fundraising, growth, and survival. Every run asks you to balance cash, runway, team morale, founder energy, product quality, market fit, and investor confidence while unexpected events force hard tradeoffs.

What you can do:
- Choose a founder archetype, company focus, industry, and challenge setup
- Make product, growth, hiring, fundraising, and operations decisions
- React to dynamic events that can boost momentum or threaten the company
- Unlock achievements, compete on Game Center leaderboards, and build your legacy across multiple runs
- Unlock extra founder archetypes, scenarios, industries, themes, and share-card styles through optional in-app purchases

Winning takes more than growth at all costs. Push too hard and your founder can burn out. Run out of cash and the company collapses. Find the right balance, hit the big milestones, and reach unicorn status.

### 1.7 — 2026-07-06

Version 1.7 makes Tech Unicorn smoother, cleaner, and more reliable across iPhone and iPad. This update refreshes the milestone visual style, improves layouts for setup, shop, settings, gameplay, game-over, and unicorn screens, makes saved companies more dependable when returning to a run, and improves premium pack purchase/restore handling. Share cards are cleaner, and the game includes additional stability fixes throughout the startup simulation.

New Rival Founder Mode is here.

Every run now includes a competing startup founder watching your moves, challenging your market position, and creating new pressure around users, investors, talent, and distribution.

This update also adds new rivalry events, a live rival status card in the Strategy view, and onboarding previews that show which rival you’ll face before starting a company.

Players who want a tougher challenge can unlock the new Rivalry Pack, which adds advanced rival types including Copycat Builder, Capital Monster, Talent Raider, and Platform Partner.

### 1.5 — 2026-05-19

A brand-new app icon and a bigger, more diverse founder lineup.

• New icon. Meet your new Tech Unicorn — chunky glasses, an AirPod, a rainbow party-hat horn, pink cheeks, and a smirk that says "we're shipping at 2 a.m." Comes with proper light, dark, and tinted variants so it looks right on every home screen and on iOS 18's custom tint colors.

• A more diverse founder lineup. The persona pool jumped from 12 to 16 to fill obvious gaps. Every group now has more than one face — multiple Black men and Black women, multiple White men and White women, alongside the existing East Asian, South Asian, Latino, Indigenous, and Middle Eastern personas.

• Founders are random now. Pick your archetype and you'll roll a random founder from the full 16-persona catalog. Two playthroughs of "The Hacker" can look like completely different people — there's no longer a hidden archetype-to-face mapping anyone could memorize.

• Names that match their faces. Every team member you hire now gets a culturally-coherent name that fits their persona. Imani Carter looks like Imani Carter; Marcus Johnson looks like Marcus Johnson. No more name/face mismatches.

• Bug fix. The dreadlocks persona's locs now hang on the sides of the face instead of curtaining across the eyes.
