## What is Tember?

Tember is a darkroom, not a filter.

Most camera apps hand you a photo the phone has already decided about —
sharpened, brightened, smoothed. Tember starts somewhere else. It captures a
deliberately neutral photograph with minimal processing, then develops it under
one of thirty emulated film stocks. What you get is a print from a negative,
not a filter on a JPEG.

THIRTY FILM LOOKS
Five families — Portrait, Indoor & Night, Travel & Landscape, Black & White and
Creative — alongside the Natural base. Swipe through them on the photograph
itself and watch the whole frame change. Every look is a colour transform built
from measurement, not a preset stack.

THE NEGATIVE IS KEPT
Your capture is stored as a negative and re-developed every time you change a
look. Nothing is baked in. Crop it, change the stock, come back a year later
and develop it differently — the original sensor frame is always there.

CONTROLS THAT DO ONE THING EACH
Strength, grain, halation, skin protection, exposure, temperature, tint,
highlights and shadows. No auto-enhance, no hidden second opinion.

BUILT FOR IPHONE AND IPAD
A deck you swipe on the phone. A full editing grid on iPad, with drag-and-drop
straight from Files or Photos.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS STAY YOURS
No account. No sign-in. No cloud. No analytics, no tracking, no data collected
of any kind. Every photograph is developed on your device and never leaves it
unless you export it yourself.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT DOES
Tember applies minimal processing with slight usability protections — it does
not claim to do none. Every export carries a record of exactly how it was
developed.

Tember Pro unlocks the full catalogue of thirty looks. A free selection is
available with no time limit and no account.

## Frequently asked questions about Tember

### What is Tember?

Tember is a photo app that emulates the process of film development in a darkroom. Instead of applying filters, it allows you to capture a neutral image and then develop it using one of thirty emulated film stocks. Your original capture is stored as a negative, so you can re-develop it with different looks at any time.

### How does Tember's film emulation work?

Tember captures a deliberately neutral photograph with minimal processing. You then develop this 'negative' under one of thirty emulated film stocks, each representing a different color transform built from measurement. This process provides a print from a negative, rather than a filter applied to a JPEG.

### Can I change the film look after taking a photo?

Yes, the negative is kept. Your capture is stored as a negative and can be re-developed every time you change a film stock or adjust settings. You can even come back a year later and develop it differently, as the original sensor frame is always preserved.

### Does Tember have ads?

No, Tember does not have advertisements. The app is free to use with a selection of looks, and an optional subscription unlocks the full catalog. The developer prioritizes a clean and uninterrupted user experience.

### What are the subscription options for Tember Pro?

Tember Pro offers two subscription plans: a monthly subscription for $1.99 and a yearly subscription for $9.99. The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial, allowing you to explore the full catalog of thirty looks before committing.

### Is Tember available on Android devices?

Based on the provided data, Tember is built for iPhone and iPad. It features a swipe deck on the phone and a full editing grid with drag-and-drop functionality on iPad, indicating platform-specific optimization for Apple devices.

### How often is Tember updated?

The latest version of Tember was released on September 12, 2026, with the initial release date being September 2, 2026. This suggests a recent update, and the app is likely to receive further updates for improvements and new features.

### What kind of controls does Tember offer?

Tember provides granular controls for image development, including strength, grain, halation, skin protection, exposure, temperature, and tint, as well as highlights and shadows. It avoids auto-enhance features, giving users direct control over each aspect of the development process.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-12

A short intro plays the first time you open Tember on an iPhone: the shutter, a swipe to a different film, Compare, and the drawer — ten seconds, skip any time. Watch it again from Help.

Eight short guide videos, built into the app. Open Help, or Settings → Guides, to see how the darkroom, the film looks, the adjustments, the camera and Temper work — about a minute each, and they play on your phone without going online.
