## What is Temp Number | Receive SMS?

Need a phone number just to get a verification code? Use one of ours instead of giving out your own.

Receive SMS lets you grab a temporary phone number, use it wherever a site or app asks you to verify by text, and read the code right here in a few seconds. No SIM card, no sign up, and we never ask for anything about you.

It's handy when you want to try something without handing over your real number, or when you just want to keep the spam away from your actual phone.

What you get:
Temporary numbers from lots of different countries
Codes show up in the app, usually within seconds
We spot the verification code for you, so you can copy it with one tap
The inbox updates on its own while you wait
Save the numbers you like so they're easy to find later
Works great in dark mode

How it works:
Pick a country and choose a number, use it where the code is asked for, then come back and the message is waiting. Tap the code to copy it and you're done.

One thing to keep in mind: these numbers are public and shared, so anyone using the app can see the messages they get. Please don't use them for your bank, your email, or anything personal, and never send private info to them. The app only receives texts. It can't send messages or make calls.

This update is all about stability.

We fixed a bug where some verification codes were not detected when the message included an area code. Codes are now spotted more reliably so you can copy them with one tap.
Duplicate messages no longer show up twice in an inbox.
Your favorite numbers are now saved safely. Previously a temporary glitch could clear your list, and that is fixed.
