### 4/5 — Rainfall Rate on the Current Conditions

*2026-07-19*

Can y’all add the rainfall rate instead of the day before’s rainfall
So instead of it showing yesterday’s rainfall it would show the running rainfall rate like: 2.50 in/hr, so that I don’t have to go to the chart to look at the rainfall rate from a few minutes past. What I’m trying to say is keep the rainfall rate more current.
For the wind speed, could y’all update the graphing system because it doesn’t want to show all of the current wind speed and direction, it just shows the one minute average of the recorded wind speeds and plots them under one minute’s speed like for example, at 1:00PM the wind “speed” was 10 mph where there was more wind and less wind than that.
Next, the lightning detection feels and seems off, where it’ll record 5+ strikes in a second or two and then it’ll not be there and it’ll say the last strike was either 1-2 minutes ago.
Lastly, the radar map will not let me zoom all the way in to my house, if I would try to do this it would push me back about 2-4 miles away, or in other words it would show the rain or snow for another place when I want to zoom into my house close up to see what the conditions are. Could y’all add a feature where it would show the next 1-3 hours radar instead of the previous 1-2 hours, so it would feel like a true past/future-cast. And add a hurricane track where we can see where a hurricane is going to hit.
So on the next possible update y’all should focus on these things by making the system better and more user friendly. All in all it’s a great system, but with a few things/bugs to be updated. That’s why I am giving 4/5 stars.

### 3/5 — Poor Design

*2026-06-19, version 5.40*

The station data is at the top of the screen and the rest of the screen is the forecast that goes out a ridiculous number of days.…. Plus there are 5 days of old forecasts left on the screen. Why? It’s not bad to see the forecast, but it’s not optional - so you can’t remove it from the screen. …. and makes the screen too busy and cluttered for my personal taste. Other issue is that it does not denote times of peak data…. max wind…. high temp - and it doesn’t give you a start/end time for rain. To be fair there is a graph where you can attempt to obtain the data- but would be great to have that data at a glance. One final issue…. When I tap on one of the individual data points on main screen…. it brings up another page with all the data and not just what you tap. The wind data on that page is a smaller lighter font than the Pressure and it’s easy for my eye to not see the decimal point on the wind data- for example- it’s easy to mistake a wind speed of 2.2 mph for 22 mph.
I would like to click on a data point where all data for that data point is readily available on one screen …. along with time of the event peaks.
I don’t expect you to redo your app for me, 😉
Just some food for thought next time you do a revamp.

### 4/5 — Good app needs temperature alerts

*2026-06-14, version 5.40*

This is a nicely designed app with a good user interface. Given that many people purchase a weather station to monitor temperatures, it seems like a big deficit to not have the ability to set high or low temperature alert alerts through the app.

### 3/5 — Great hardware. Meh software.

*2026-04-19, version 5.40*

I love my Tempest weather station. It integrates really well with Home Assistant and Alexa for hyperlocal forecasting. But the app is really in need of a makeover. It looks like it was made for iPhone 3G… things are arranged properly and it never crashes which is great, but it’s not using any modern design language. I hope to see better widgets and some Liquid Glass effects in the future.

### 2/5 — Seems as though you need to be the owner?

*2026-04-18, version 5.40*

Would be great to view a tempest with a public URL.

### 3/5 — I thought this was free?

*2026-01-24, version 5.39*

Why does the Apple App Store want me to pay $7.50 to download the app?

### 3/5 — Family and friends share

*2025-12-28, version 5.39*

I mean it’s a awesome app for an young little guy like me! The only thing I wish I could do is share the weather app with other people so my family or friends can look at the weather too.

### 3/5 — Needs an update

*2025-12-24, version 5.39*

Considering the price of the weather station one would assume that there would be a way to add data inputs and that there would be artificial intelligence added into the user interface to expand the overall performance

### 4/5 — Time changes

*2025-11-19, version 5.39*

I'm surprised that you haven't permanently fixed zoomed out graphs of temp etc at 3 hour hash marks to start a day at midnight after DST vs standard time chsnges. After a change the graph day starts at 11pm, then 2am, then 5am, etc

### 3/5 — Wind speed, not accurate

*2025-11-06, version 5.39*

For the most part, this weather station is pretty good, everything seems to work fairly well except for the anometer. This thing is so far from accurate it’s not even funny. I have it mounted 12 feet above my second story roof. The wind here is gusting easily to 40 miles an hour as I typed this and this thing hasn’t registered over 18 mph. Completely unacceptable if I could return it, I would.

### 4/5 — Needs Apple TV app

*2025-08-30, version 5.39*

This is a good app and I especially like the Apple Watch complications. The blaring missing feature would be an Apple TV app. I would love to have this as an option for people staying at my vacation rental.

### 2/5 — Update broke the app.

*2025-08-01, version 5.39*

Today’s update broke the ability to view the data. When clicking the top, instead of seeing the data, a page explains Nearcast Technology with no way to exit.

### 4/5 — Here’s a software enhancement suggestion

*2025-07-17, version 5.38*

Under settings, there is the tempest map option where you can look at all the stations around the country with the toggle between weather or stations. It’s kind of annoying that you have to keep zooming in trying to find out where you’re at to look at other stations in the area. Since the homepage of my station already has the radar integrated, why don’t you integrate the tempest weather station button on that page ? because it’s already zoomed into your location?

### 3/5 — Not so good

*2025-06-30*

I am an initial backer of this project, a few years down the road and having had 2 units fail with single sensor readings no longer working (temp) I can obtain a replacement outdoor unit at half price, so £180 approx and I’ll be able to see the temperature again - NO, not happening.

You need to be aware that the app is excellent and so is the equipment until it fails, even if it’s only one measly sensor that’s gone down you either put up with it or pay a fat price to replace it.
The unit located at my mums place is currently faulty and has an appointment with the trash, the unit at my property is currently fine, but for how long?

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review, Intra. We have a solid 2 year warranty and an upgrade pathway as generous as we can make it, upgrading your devices at manufacturing cost. The equipment is built to last well beyond the warranty period but it seems you've had some bad luck with a failed sensor out of warranty. I'm sorry for that experience.

### 1/5 — Bad WiFi

*2026-06-11, version 5.40*

I have over 50 devices on my home network that connected to my WiFi the first time but not the Tempest Weather Station. I have extenders in several locations so signal strength is not an issue. I followed all their troubleshooting recommendations with no luck. So at this point I will be returning it.

### 1/5 — Worst forecasting

*2026-06-06, version 5.40*

Still can’t believe there is no Apple HomeKit integration. Ifttt is $$$ now.
Also, the forecasts are never correct. It’s going to rain in 30 min. Nope now it’ll rain in 45 min. Nope… I give up on this app and hardware.

### 1/5 — This app hallucinates

*2026-06-02, version 5.40*

This app makes up fake data when the sensor fails. Also The tempest hardware is junk, breaks down after a couple of years.

### 1/5 — Base stopped connecting

*2026-05-10, version 5.40*

After many years of use this stopped working - can I connect seams like the hub

### 1/5 — Total Junk

*2025-08-27, version 5.39*

Please fix this useless app! This app is useless! It’s nothing like the very good mobile app. The mobile app at least shows the days rain total. Does not show last lightning strike, rain total yesterday, no brightness nor solar radiation etc. UNESS you make the app 50 inches wide on your screen!!

### 1/5 — Fix it or remove it!

*2025-07-15, version 5.38*

I waited for yesrs for an integrated map, however a drop it and forget solution is unacceptable. It constantly stalls, locks up, etc., anytime there’s anything but a default view. Unacceptable!

### 1/5 — rather worthless- cant adjust rain totals- never correct!

*2025-06-17, version 5.38*

Do how difficult is it to allow station owner the ability to change rain totals?? This is NEVER correct against a Davis OR CoCoRaHs basic rain gauges. Without this ability? Its a total waste.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-05-24*

I upgraded my hardware and the latest version is not up to the first version.
Rain and wind sensors are inconsistent and I no longer rely on readings.
I have been wet to the core and upon checking Tempest, no rain recorded? Also, forecasts are unreliable; forecast change frequently, literally every 10 minutes.
Big disappointment and waste of money.

**Developer response:** Following up once again - have you been able to fix these issues with our support team? We'd love to read an updated review.

Oh no something doesn't sound right here! The latest hardware is absolutely an upgrade and the forecasts should be the same if not even better. Please contact our support team for assistance! Visit help.tempest.earth to submit a ticket. We'll take care of you.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2025-04-06, version 5.34*

Unreliable app and weather station, even when it is online.

### 1/5 — Widgets stopped working

*2025-04-04, version 5.34*

The latest update impacted the widgets on iPhone/iPad and also the Apple Watch. They are all blanked out.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The great weather app

*2026-04-25, version 5.40*

I’ve been using this weather station for almost a year, and my experience has been excellent. The installation was simple, and the data it provides is very accurate and consistent day to day.

I only had one issue during this time, but Tempest’s support team was outstanding. They responded quickly and sent me a replacement station at no cost, which really shows how much they stand behind their product.

It’s a reliable, well-designed system with top-notch customer support. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality weather station.

### 5/5 — Great Weather Station

*2026-03-31, version 5.39*

This is a great way to see what the weather is at home and at any other place you might be or want to know. You can save locations in your browser to look at later without having to search the Map. I also have the Light Map. It also has everything on it that is on the Tempest.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-02-18*

Any rain issues are from incorrect mounting . Longer poles vibrate due to wind and resonance. Short poles filled with sand don’t .

Grab one of these stations they are brilliant

**Developer response:** Thanks for the awesome review and advice, Mark!

### 5/5 — One suggestion

*2026-02-04, version 5.39*

Overall a quality weather station for weather nuts, but PLEASE swap the high and low temperatures

### 5/5 — Great app for my station, and weather’

*2026-02-02, version 5.39*

Been a user for many years, since WF was in crowdfunding. Love the product and app.

### 5/5 — 5*

*2026-01-07, version 5.39*

Breeze to set up, well designed w/ good interface, & responsive service.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2026-01-02, version 5.39*

This app and the accompanying weather station work great! Easy to install, configure, and connect to Rachio and Weather Underground. If you want to know your hyper-local weather, this is the way to go!

### 5/5 — BEST WEATHER STATION & APP!

*2025-12-24*

The app is rock solid and the weather with their NEARCAST premium service for personal use is very accurate for hyper local weather. Tempest also has the best support and care… they are truly passionate about their service and care about their customers. Twice we reached out for a technical item and both times they followed up super quick, got to the bottom of the issue and had us back up and running. Excellent service. Excellent product!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review! We're honored to have all your support and appreciation.

### 5/5 — Top notch station and app

*2025-09-11, version 5.39*

I’d contemplated buying a tempest weather station for months since last major hail storm destroyed my previous weather station. I received / deployed the tempest station 1 week ago. The station and app provide a robust data collection. I greatly appreciate the battery charge info. I cannot attest to rain accuracy as we’ve had no rain since installing. The hardware and tempest mounting provide a clean, non-invasive mounting. Very pleased in all aspects of equipment and app thus far.

### 5/5 — Useful for Day to Day Activities

*2025-08-26, version 5.39*

I have 4 Tempest units deployed and find them very useful for day to day activities and fro planning. The app provides a lot of info and the notifications for lightning and rain are great. Best station and app I’ve used.
