### 4/5 — Almost

*2025-04-06, version 2.7*

It loses track of bpm and you have to reset. Not good for a gigging drummer

### 4/5 — Good app

*2025-03-28*

The app is good. A couple things would make it excellent. Make it possible to see longer time frames on the graph and make it so the algorithm is more responsive to large tempo changes. If I’m playing at say 80 bpm then change to 120 the app will keep saying I’m playing 80 for minutes. I have to reset the app to get it to recognize the tempo changes. Small tempo changes (ie 80 to 82) work well though. Also, turn off the recording feature by default or make it more obvious that the record feature is optional.

**Developer response:** Hi, fyi v3 now has a responsiveness slider that allows more control over that sort of thing. Hopefully it meets your needs!

### 3/5 — Won’t measure from players on same device

*2024-07-08*

I test professional artists recordings to match their tempos. I can’t get Tempi to measure/work simultaneously with my player apps (Bandcamp, Amazing Slow Downer, Apple Music, Recorder) when both are on the same device. Either the player stops as soon as I touch “record” button on Tempi, or Tempi stops when I turn on the player app. This won’t work for me.

### 2/5 — Live tempo detection IF you record everything

*2023-12-27*

Not a great tempometer.
If you want to record your performances you can receive a running live tempo read out. This could be cool for reviewing your performances.
But if you don’t want to commit memory resources and just want a live tempo reference…this is not the app for you.
Expensive too.

### 5/5 — Ottima!

*2020-03-21, version 1.5.2*

### 5/5 — Incorrect

*2020-03-09*

The app suddenly changes the record/ counting of beats from 127 to 86 bpm although there’s no such enormous variation while playing the same song without change or interruptions.
Nice Gadget but not useful.

### 5/5 — Worked Great

*2020-03-08*

Only used this once so far, but plan to keep it as part of my gig setup. Today was an acoustic gig with me on cajon. Tempi did a great job of reading our live tempo. We tend to rush a bit we get louder so it was good to see that feedback so I could work on keeping the band on pace. Don’t try to over correct too quickly, that will just sound bad. Love the app. Sound quality wasn’t great but it was right by me and not my top need. Also would love to have access to the tempo chart you see live when save a song/performance.

### 5/5 — Eccellente accessorio

*2020-03-03, version 1.5*

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2020-02-04*

About time someone thought of this! Lets your band play at your speed but also lets you work on not speeding up during your songs. And not burdened with a bunch of the silly
“features” that app designers always seem to feel the need to include to obscure what was originally a good idea. Nice work! Keep it simple!
The next step in the evolution of the metronome is finally here.

### 2/5 — Find something else

*2020-01-13*

The manual tapping feature is terrible. I mean it does get you close I guess. But I can do that by listening. I want the app to tell me exact. Also the listening feature doesn’t know what sounds it’s listening too and the tempo can change from 110 to 87 just because they hit a drum twice or sing more syllables in a measure. I’ll find something else.

### 3/5 — Sorta gud

*2019-12-27, version 1.4*

Should have a feature where u can add a sample and it can tell u the bpm

### 5/5 — Can’t beat it ha ha

*2019-12-15, version 1.4*

Great little app. As a drummer, I start recording starting a song and watch the tempo as the band works through it. Very responsive and applicable.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t work

*2026-04-18, version 2.8*

I started playing and it just the temple kept going down and down when I was clearly playing 104. The temple said I was playing 75. And also when I wasn’t playing fast and I was playing a slow song at 60 it said I was at 120

### 1/5 — Inaccurate, no refunds

*2025-11-11, version 2.8*

This app measures time inaccurately & freezes up after a minute of measuring bpm. Developers also refuse refunds on this ultra expensive utility app.

I am a professional Jazz Drummer, DO NOT RECOMMEND

I am using a free app called autobpm now

### 1/5 — no Output

*2023-08-12*

The app would make sense for me if it puts out MIDI Timecode or MIDI Clock in realtime. In this state it makes absolutely no sense.

### 1/5 — Nice idea, but…

*2022-07-29, version 2.1*

It doesn’t work. Placed phone right next to drum kit playing snare only and it wasn’t anywhere in the ballpark. Was playing 90 bpm and it registered as 118. Slowed playing down to 65 and it registered as 127. Sped up and it was up and down from 72 to 110.

Played a song from YouTube and it was all over the place on a simple steady beat.

Not sure if something changed recently or if it’s related to phone hardware or OS version. I’m on a 13 Pro using iOS 15.5. Plenty of good reviews on here so I’m just surprised it works so poorly.

Waste of $6 🙄

### 1/5 — Schrott

*2020-12-19*

### 1/5 — Misst mein Metronom falsch

*2020-12-18*

Was soll ich sagen. Es misst mein Metronom falsch. Durchgefallen

### 1/5 — Only up to 240bpm

*2020-06-09, version 1.5.2*

I wish there is a trial for this app. I just downloaded it to track my drumming, but it only detects beat rate up to 240, which makes it useless for me. I wish I could get a refund...

*2020-01-29, version 1.4*

### 1/5 — Slow, wouldn’t pay after the free trial.

*2018-08-28, version 1.3.2*

Doesn’t work that well. I would never pay to use this app.

### 1/5 — It Can’t Understand Syncopation

*2017-12-17, version 1.2.1*

It’s recording the tempo all over the place. I tested it against a professional recording “ Gerald Albright Live: Round Midnight “ on YouTube. I tested on a professional recording because using during church band practice I got such varying tempo that were very extreme. I got a readings from 62, 61, 86, 82 ,110,76 so something is terribly wrong. Please help me understand the problem please or I need to delete it and quit getting on the guys in the band.
Wonderful idea wish it would work.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So far

*2025-10-31*

So good…. Seems pretty accurate to me and a helpful tool… Of course I wish it was ALSO an AUv3 with the ability to send MIDI rate to other apps for improvising live music. … This would be so cool to have it listen to a live drummer and all my AUM related apps follow along… still very cool helpful tool

**Developer response:** Hey there, fyi Tempi is now available as a free AUv3 plugin! You can get it at https://www.madebywindmill.com/tempi/plugin/ .

### 5/5 — GREAT APP !!

*2025-10-30, version 2.8*

Easy to use and VERY effective at .0% BPM AWASOME

### 5/5 — Super praktisch und genial

*2025-05-12*

### 5/5 — Very useful App

*2024-06-23*

Very helpful for those of us who struggle to play in time. I think it would be even more helpful though if there was the ability to calculate the mean and standard deviation BPM over the course of the recording. This would help indicate over time, improvement in our ability to play in time.

### 5/5 — Would be awesome with Shazam integration

*2023-11-10, version 2.0*

I love this app, and it seems pretty accurate! Please add Shazam integration so we can see the name and artist of a tune while checking the temp. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2022-09-10*

This little app does what my expensive audio and video editing software does not: It accurately detects beats per minute.

For a (non-musician) video editor who has struggled with timing clips to music for years, Tempi is a miracle. I’m now freed from the endless cycle of tapping out the beat, timing the clip, getting it wrong, tapping, re-timing the clip… Thank you!

### 5/5 — Drummer gospel band

*2022-08-06, version 2.1*

This app is amazing, get tons of compliments while using it in live situations!

### 5/5 — Great app! A coupla suggestions..

*2021-10-13*

I am a pro drummer and have used this app in performance quite a bit. It is a great safety net and really helps to me to feel solid in a very natural way. My time feels much more consistent and confident after when I remove it from the equation as well! I have a few minor suggestions, but bravo on what has become one of my most efficient tools! I only have a couple minor suggestions.

I love that it records, but it would be great to have the option to not record. Recording drains the battery very quickly, thus making it unusable for longer recordings if you cannot plug in your device.

Also, it would be amazing to be able to minimize the app while being able to use another app simultaneously. ie. sheet music app, fourscore, etc.

I recommend it to my students and colleagues. People are always amazed and wonder why they have never heard of it! As is, it is still incredible and I will continue to utilize and recommend it to anyone that may benefit. Thank you for the wonderful tool!

### 5/5 — fun, interesting

*2021-01-11, version 2.0*

thanx

### 5/5 — Super

*2020-12-21*

Die App ist Super toll
