I would say it stays connected for about 15 mins and randomly just goes out. It’ll randomly come back on when it feels like it. It’s not just my phone, it’s the main hub too. Battery life is inaccurate, full charged 2 bars, 1 bar will last 18 hours. It’ll tell you low battery for another 12. As a casual bbq person it’s okay for ribs and a pork butt. Brisket is a gamble. ### 3/5 — Thermometers are great, app is mid *2026-07-31, version 2.2.2* The thermometers are working great. Temperatures are consistent with my other calibrated thermometers. The app is so-so. The temperature value is cut off so I have to go into the app and then click on the thermometer I want to see the temperature on. All I see is 2… instead of 225 on the front screen. My spike battery dies way before the meat reaches the target temperature. The booster works fine, but the spike is usually dead before the cooking is finished. Are these spikes guaranteed? The app isn't the greatest with a screen reader. Buttons are not labeled, so a person with visual disabilities really doesn't know what most buttons do, because the screen reader is not able to tell us. The physical product itself appears to have been over designed to the point of removing any necessary relevant buttons to have only 1. The probe will not pair. The base pairs fine but that makes the product unusable. I’ve tried everything. It used to work fine but now it’s worthless. Buy another meat probe this one is terrible. You can’t beat that. ### 5/5 — Nice but usability problems *2025-10-26, version 2.2.1* I naively assumed that I would be able to monitor the temperature of my smoked meats remotely. No, my phone must be near the smoker because the app connects directly to the TempSpike Plus device by Bluetooth. It doesn’t do what my other devices do which is connect to my WiFi and post updates to the server so I can use it on the go. Lame. The other usability problem is that the Fahrenheit temperature tries to show one significant digit instead of rounding which means sometimes the number is too wide to appear so it is truncated with an ellipsis and I can’t even read the number on the overview page. On the TempSpike Plus device which has a digital readout it rounds the numbers and doesn’t have this problem. Note I am using two probes at the same time so of course I want to monitor both at once on the overview page in the app. But I have to click to go into the detail screen of each one. Lame. ### 5/5 — 50/50 *2025-09-22, version 2.2.1* Did my first big cook this weekend. The white probe was perfect, and lasted the entire nine hour cook. The black probe quit at five hours and claimed to need recharging. Currently doing a dry run to see if it was just a glitch. ### 5/5 — Easy and Accurate *2025-06-28, version 2.2.1* This wireless meat thermometer helps me cook everything just right. I am so glad I got it.
