### 2/5 — Calendar data grab

*2026-04-16, version 1.7.34*

The primary use case for this app is to see when you have upcoming appointments. Within the app, there is an option to add them to your calendar. Allowing the app to "Add Events Only" should be enough, but the app requires "Full Access", which is more than it needs, or than I want to grant. Please change it.

### 3/5 — Fix confirm

*2026-03-09, version 1.7.34*

App is overall OK but it’s impossible to confirm appointment in it - button and nav is non-responsive.

### 2/5 — Why do I always have to call?

*2025-12-04, version 1.7.34*

I don’t entirely understand the point of having an app when 95% of the time, if I need to make or change an appointment, it just tells me to “call”.

1. Why not have buttons for this?
2. The call wait times are really long. Could you at least have a support chat in the app? Or a callback system?

### 3/5 — Would be great if it worked

*2025-10-14, version 1.7.34*

I like how the app interface looks. However, you’re unable to confirm appointments with their confirm appointment button.

### 2/5 — Sloooow

*2025-06-11, version 1.7.34*

Why does this app never work? I input preferences before appointments yet each time, the dental assistant says my preferences aren’t loaded. I have to call to make any appointments because Tend’s app page to schedule/reschedule kept timing out on the “next available dates.” Maybe Tend could stop buying every corner in Brooklyn and instead fund some upgrades so this app could be useful.

### 4/5 — Great App - Some Improvements

*2025-04-23, version 1.7.31*

The app is so user friendly! However, I really wish while viewing past visits you could see who your hygienist was. I can see upcoming, but I can’t see who I preferred in the past. All in all - a fantastic experience, but a small change could make a big difference.

### 1/5 — Deceptive practice

*2025-02-10, version 1.7.29*

They conveniently assure you multiple times before providing a service that it is fully covered by insurance and that their staff at the front desk has checked that it is indeed covered. Then a year later, they email you a bill where insurance does NOT cover the treatment AT ALL. They’ve done this several times and provide zero assistance or even apology or acknowledgment on their end.

### 1/5 — Slow app

*2025-01-17, version 1.7.29*

App is slow, doesn’t respond when trying to change an appt time

### 1/5 — A joke

*2024-12-26, version 1.7.29*

Everything with this place is a joke, to screwing up your services to billing to everything in between. The app forcing you to call billing department for ridiculous things where mangers just always happen to be in a meeting.

### 1/5 — Predatory dressed as modern convenience

*2024-12-05, version 1.7.28*

App has very limited information. Only use is for booking appointments. But you can’t view bills with breakdowns on the app.

If you just want your annual cleaning thats covered by your insurance its a great place but be wary. They went ahead and gave me flouride without my knowledge and consent and surprise surprise its an extra service charging me an extra 60 bucks.

They also lack in communication with your insurance provider. Charging you an insane amount without knowledge that the insurance provider has already sent them a cheque. They also lure you into procedures saying that its covered only to be charged a few months later.

### 1/5 — Negligent Dental Care

*2024-11-10, version 1.7.28*

Decent app, poor dental service. This company is trying to bring corporate scalability to dental care, but that means that you will never have access to your dentist. They take more patients than they have time to provide care for. As an anecdote, I was forced to wait 2+ months for an emergency. Emails will be ignored, calls will be outsourced to non-medical receptionists who will not be able to help you. Do yourself a favor and get a traditional dentist. I’ve never seen a health care provider be as negligent as Tend.

### 1/5 — Surprise bills, horrible customer service

*2024-11-04, version 1.7.28*

Initially had great experiences with the actual Tend dental practice I went to. Now, I keep getting surprise bills from Tend (corporate) from visits 8 months - 2 years ago. From what I understand they got a new billing system and are re-processing old bills. I’m being charged for things that the actual office told me they’d cover. Getting conflicting statements from the bills vs. customer service. The corporate customer service is hard to get ahold of, unresponsive, unprofessional, unhelpful, and has 0 empathy. I no longer recommend Tend to anyone and I’ve gone elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Bad business

*2024-09-25, version 1.7.28*

This place will offer services they confirm are covered under your insurance and then bill you. TEND also offered incentives to refer friends etc… after their first visit both will receive a referral incentive which never happens. I’ve canceled future visits my friends will too, and they can keep the fake offers from flooding my inbox! No thank you.

### 1/5 — No funciona desde el extranjero

*2024-09-07, version v1.7.26*

No permite cancelar visitas

### 1/5 — Clueless

*2024-08-23, version 1.7.25*

This company tries to be the next best thing since sliced bread, but they can’t even validate your insurance prior to your visit. I submitted my insurance card and information prior to my visit, and they confirmed they accepted it. They conveniently did not tell me they were NOT in network. So my insurance informed me they will only cover them as out of network—a measly $70. Which means my insurance really doesn’t cover it. Imagine being misled by your dentist, who claims that accepting your insurance doesn’t mean they’re in network. It just means they’ll take it as out of network. Why on earth would I choose about of network provider? That’s just as expensive as not having insurance at all.

### 1/5 — No Agents available on the weekends?

*2024-08-17, version 1.7.25*

I’m trying to move my appointment back a few days, and I’m within the 48 hour window to make these changes without paying the late fee, but I am unable to make the change on the app.

When I pressed the button to call the 1800 number, I was directed through a series of prompts that lead me to either get a call back or stay on the line. I chose to stay on the line, and not lose my place, when I was disconnected.

For a tech dental company, this process should be faster, easier, and more automated than currently operated. It’s annoying.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — DO NOT GO HERE

*2026-07-01, version 1.7.34*

Tend is awful, it’s a money grab

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-06-30, version 1.7.34*

No point in having an app when I can’t manage my appointments there. Or have my receipts stored in it.

### 1/5 — App Needs Updating

*2026-04-28, version 1.7.34*

UI / UX is nice, but it’s all for naught if functionality is shot. Confirming a visit doesn’t work. Adding an appointment to my calendar doesn’t work. Basically any functionality that requires a follow up action doesn’t work anymore. What’s going on?

### 1/5 — Didn’t listen

*2026-03-05, version 1.7.34*

They didn’t listen caused me a bad infection so I had to go somewhere else for treatment

### 1/5 — Overbilling Scam

*2025-12-16, version 1.7.34*

They messed up my onlay. Have to redo it and then they charged me for an additional visit when they were the ones that screwed up.

### 1/5 — Find a local dentist

*2025-10-27, version 1.7.34*

Reached out to tend for tooth pain that turned out to be an abscess. They let me know thirty minutes before my *emergency* appointment made days prior that they were full and were incredibly slow to try and reschedule (I literally did it myself twice over) something that can be life threatening without treatment.

Sad to see medical professionals beholden to tech bro profit over patient logic.

See a local, small, family dentist (if you’re in DC I recommend Dr. Rima Kanbaragha)

### 1/5 — Prepare for the hard sell

*2025-08-26, version 1.7.34*

Ok for cleaning but I would recommend getting a second opinion before having any work done. It feels like a money grab to me. They will try to up sell you on everything, even simple cleanings. Beware insurance likely WONT cover the “deep” cleaning which they will undoubtedly recommend. They will also push you hard for a custom bite guard. Don’t be fooled.

### 1/5 — Time share presentation.

*2025-07-10, version 1.7.34*

Was referred to tend by a friend. Scheduled a 1 hour visit for what I assumed was a routine dental cleaning. 75 minutes and multiple sales pitches later I walked out without a cleaning. I felt uncomfortable and that the goal was not to help me achieve dental health but to pay for as much as possible.

### 1/5 — So unprofessional

*2025-06-24, version 1.7.34*

I can’t believe I waited over a hour. I arrived early for my appointment. I waited for my appointment time which wasn’t a problem. About 15 after my appointment time I asked if I was late how long would it be before my appointment would be cancelled and I would be charge. So the receptionist got up and went to get the assistant, which she came out and sat me in the chair. The Dentist came in and explained what she was going to do numbed me up and said she needed time for my mouth to get numb and would
Be right back. A half and hour passes. I got up and went to the receptionist again and asked again if I was a hour late would I be charged and how much. She said they they don’t charge for that anymore. Which I think is a lie. So at this point with my mouth fully numb I just asked to reschedule me.

Fenway office gotta do
Better this is totally unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Do not go here

*2025-04-10, version 1.7.31*

Tend is the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. DO NOT go here

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun at the dentist?

*2026-01-05, version 1.7.34*

Yes, never thought possible. Kind, thoughtful, incredibly thorough and I get to watch Anthony Bourdain (RIP) while the gunk gets scraped from my teeth. 10/10 recommend TEND (TM)

### 5/5 — BFF for Dental Health

*2024-12-13, version 1.7.29*

This is the perfect app for busy professionals to help them keep up with their dental health. My only issue with the app is the inability to add appointments to calendars other than Apple's, such as Google or Outlook.

### 5/5 — Best dentist

*2024-10-06, version 1.7.28*

The best dental facility they’re professional on time and explain everything in detail what you need

### 5/5 — Rave review

*2024-08-26, version 1.7.25*

Had a perfectly wonderful experience at Tend this morning. They were incredibly punctual, pleasant and efficient. Dr. Lee with her assistant, Barbara took care of filling a cavity. I admired their kindness, professionalism, and courtesy. A wonderful and painless experience.

### 5/5 — Looking forward to going to the dentist

*2024-04-26, version 1.7.25*

They make it feel like a spa. Unbelievable.

### 5/5 — Not properly working

*2024-03-05, version 1.7.25*

While having the app for dentist is convenient tool to manage my dentist appointments and treatment plans. App is not working properly. It closes by itself when logging in, takes sometimes longer than a phone call wait to log in.
If those bugs can be fixed. It Can be great tool.

### 5/5 — Easy

*2023-08-22, version 1.7.0*

Easy to use nice app

### 5/5 — Excellent Service and Beautiful Office

*2022-09-07, version 1.2.2*

My experience was beyond amazing! From how beautiful and luxurious the office is to the wonderful service, I loved every bit! Now I am so excited to go to the dentist. Thanks Tend, Carmen and Dr. Davis for such a great visit!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2022-08-03, version 1.2.2*

Easy to navigate & use! Looking forward to my appointment with Tend.

### 5/5 — Root Canal gone bad!!!

*2022-07-27*

Root canal experience was horrific the dentist had a terrible bed side manner and rescheduling for the crown was a nightmare. I had to pay out of pocket to see a specialist after the terrible experience. Which cost me an additional $600 after paying them $400. I will be looking for another dentist.
