## What is Tennis Serve Tracker?

“Tennis Serve Tracker” measures tennis serve speed using video processing and image recognition technologies. Why is it worth trying it when there are similar apps on market? Because all these apps can be split on 2 categories - first are the ones that do it very, very bad or simply invent measured speed and won’t be mentioned here at all. The others do measure the serve speed, but it’s a lot of manual interactions with setting multiple parameters, like choosing deuce/ad serve type, server height, marking server and ball positions on the standard court image template that has no resemblance to the actual court we see with our eyes. These actions drastically increase an error margin, time and effort required to perform a single serve speed measurement - does it match fast pacing tennis game we all love?

So how “Tennis Serve Tracker” measures tennis serve speed? The fundamental difference is that it processes every single frame in the video feed and recognizes the court on the image frame. It allows to reconstruct 3D world coordinates of the server and ball from the image coordinates. Application provides constant feedback by highlighting court lines, net and a ball on the screen. Now having the time measurements from the video and ball world coordinates application can calculate your serve speed with a great accuracy, most times way better than a commercial speed gun (see doppler effect cosine factor error)! Visit “Demo Videos” application website page for videos with real time side by side comparison between speed radar gun and the app.

Final speed display is unlocked by lifetime "Premium" upgrade just for a price of a single tennis balls can. This app is a valuable tool for every tennis player who would like to improve their game and have a great serve!

### 1/5 — I spent money purchasing the pro edition, regrets

*2020-10-27*

This app is not good by any stretch of the imagination. It does not integrate with anything, takes very short clips, which renders it impossible for me to set up shot, hit record and then serve. The algorithm doesn’t even properly triangular tennis court lines if there is the slightest hint of judder from Tripod. I would like my money back... that or remove from store because it’s really a waste of money and fairly undeveloped.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2020-09-12, version 2.2.1*

It takes two people to operate this app. One person taps “start” and then the server has 10 seconds to serve from the other side. Why? When I work on my serve, I’m by myself with a bucket of balls. Why not let the video run? Or give a 2 minute timer? Or upload video?
Also, your camera needs to be at least 5’10” off the ground to get enough profile to recognize the court. Who has a tripod that high? Oh ya, friend has to hold the camera.
The calculation itself works really well. Frustrating that just a little more foresight with the programming wasn’t used. This could be a really great app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t track anything

*2019-08-19*

Constantly fails to recognize the serve and then doesn’t allow you to set the ball bounce point to have it calculate from there. No slow motion. Virtually useless

### 1/5 — Hmmm

*2018-07-15*

Convoluted. Can’t get it going

**Developer response:** Please check "Help" and "FAQ" menu in the app or on the web site - you should follow instructions in order for app to work properly. MOST of problems arise when users are trying to use it without reading "Help" and "FAQ" page first.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2018-05-16*

The app closes everytime it says to “touch screen”. Lol hurt much developer.. your app is flawed and not working.. I have the most recent update on iPhonex and my Android both of which do not like your app.. please start over with rewriting your code.. we, (buddies at school, all tech majors) see the flaw in your app.. but was worth buying another one, which displayed accuracy. Pipe dream of free app exploded 😞

**Developer response:** Thank you for your and your buddies valuable app technical review - we'll definitely take it into consideration. Meanwhile we thoroughly tested on iPhoneX with latest iOS 11.4 version installed and application is working as expected. You may try to update your phone OS, reinstall the app or contact us for a support.

### 5/5 — Liked it!

*2017-01-03*

Tried several other apps before, but only this one was easy and quick to use on a court to measure my speed,

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2016-05-14, version 2.0.1*

I was a little skeptical before getting the app. But as soon as I loaded, started, it recognized the tennis court right away and it is ready to go! I asked to the support of they can add a delay on the start of the tracking system since 10 sec are not enough to run from one end of the court to the other end and serve 😀

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2016-04-11*

Very unique idea with court recognition from the video and nicely done. Visual feedback during recognition feels like a game!

### 5/5 — Try it!

*2016-02-11, version 2.0.1*

Honestly I did not expect this app to be so precise on my serves, but this one does it. You should give it a try!

### 5/5 — Mr

*2016-01-14, version 2.0.1*

Cool app, awesome math n fun
