### 2/5 — Bait and switch

*2024-12-11*

I should’ve listened to my brother who warned me not to pay for this app. He said it’s a slippery slope with how much they continue to charge you even after you’ve paid. You see, the first time you pay only unlocks a few basic features, but you have to sell out a lot more money and do it multiple times in order to see things like your swings statistics and other information. I don’t trust this app and will no longer continue to pay them money to unlock a feature at a time.

### 2/5 — Neil

*2024-09-21, version 3.27*

It’s basically good for keeping track of my workout length and heart rate etc and adding the steps to my daily total but the swing analysis is terrible. Spent 1 hour on forehands and it measured 60% as backhands and even measured a few as serves. Useless data .

### 4/5 — I find this quite good.

*2024-08-18, version 3.27*

I’m new to the Apple Watch and also amazed how it interacts with various apps. I play quite a lot of club tennis mainly doubles and find this app good for recording the work out. Haven’t quite worked out how to use the swing analysis yet as can’t see if you need to check it during the game or after the tennis workout is finished.

One useful feature to add would be the championship tie break for the third set. At the moment there is no way to enter a championship tie b break for the third set other than recording the e.g. 10-6 tie break score as 10-6 in games. However that kind of throws the stats out.

### 2/5 — The swing analysis does not work.

*2021-12-22*

Save your money in the swing analysis subscription; it does not work. The app neither collects the correct data nor classifies the swing correctly. The app developer is not interested in feedback to fix it. I hit 10 serves in a row and it classified those swings as forehands, backhands and volleys. At least the app could distinguish serves!

### 2/5 — Frustrating app

*2021-12-03*

Very difficult to use, data collection is inconsistent. I upgraded the app to the pro version for $5 but that unlocks only a few additional features, and those features don’t seem to work for me. Plus there are additional features that are additional $$ per month.

### 3/5 — Not a 5

*2021-07-14*

For the price i probably would have given this app 5 stars other that it will not download to my phone the correct number of shots. Yesterday on the watch it said 521 shots, but when downloaded to my phone it says 45. Today my watch said 937… phone says 261. Bummer

### 3/5 — Ok but could be better

*2021-06-12, version 3.14*

Better priced for the pro version than its competitor but some improvements need to happen for it to be a brilliant app
1. Can’t select if your right or left handed. Goes off the Apple Watch settings. Eg I am right handed but wear watch left. I put it on right wrist when playing. I can’t tell the app this.
2. Don’t believe the stats. According to the stats I do many backhand volleys over forehand’s. I know that is not true. This might be because of the right/left settings.
3. The swing analysis doesn’t mean anything. Unless it matches up to an animation of a person swinging it means nothing to me. Swing vision is able to show percentage of points you hit that were topspin, flat, spin and the stats shown are more believable.
4. Score keeping on the watch during play would be nice. Could then compile stats like break point won, double faults, etc
5. The interface is a bit clunky. The screens and layout need a redesign. A calendar format would be better. The watch app interface is good but the iPhone app is awful trying to find your data.

### 4/5 — Very good tracking of your tennis workout

*2020-05-07*

I use it to track how many and types of shots I make every time I play tennis. I also love the string tracking that let’s me see how many hours I have used a string.
Biggest improvement I would recommend is how everything is organized. There is a lot of clicking that you have to do to get to different menus.
I also wished it had game score tracking like you get on Swing.
Thanks for the app, keep up the good work.

### 1/5 — Unimpressive - Don’t waste your money

*2020-04-15, version 3.4*

I wasted $10.49 on the annual subscription to get all the data options. The problem: it literally never synced. I tried troubleshooting, I tried contacting the app developer/owner (whose response was really rude), and eventually just stopped using it. I would not recommend paying for anything with this app. As a free app it’s fine — but it’s definitely not worth paying any money. You’ll get nothing for your $10.

Also, as an aside, I work in IT as a user experience researcher — so the dev team telling me that the sync issue is user error (a problem with me) is an unacceptable response.

Response from dev team:
“Unfortunately, there is nothing for me to figure out. The issue is on your side as it works for everyone else.”

### 2/5 — I’m waiting for improvements

*2019-10-13, version 3.1*

I have used this app for several years. I wear my watch on my striking side, adjust the settings for iWatch, it makes no difference - backhands are forehands and vice versa. Now I could have a very strange stroke style, but my real tennis doesn’t suggest this. So until this basic feature is sorted then I will enjoy the link to my health data and use Zeppelin for analysis. Now, if it were just a matter or waiting for Apple sensors and software to catch up with Tennis keeper then I’d expect you would increase the amount of data I could store (my history) but no, you want me to upgrade and invest in an app that doesn’t really work. Strange business model you have there.

### 3/5 — Please Update

*2019-10-11*

As an avid player it is frustrating how often this app on my watch glitches out, doesn’t track correctly, or crashes. It was working fine, idk what happened.

**Developer response:** The app was just updated a week ago. Perhaps it is your update of the app that is not working properly. Please delete the app from your iPhone and install it again. You may also want to restart both your phone and your Apple Watch.

### 1/5 — 5 dollars get nothing

*2019-10-11, version 3.1*

The pro edition get no useful features, you need to subscribe monthly to get the useful features.

### 3/5 — Question:

*2019-09-26*

Are we able to input our stats and shots manually?

**Developer response:** You input your stats by entering your event date & scores, then stats such as time spent or win/loss will be calculated automatically. You input your shots by tracking your swings via your Apple Watch.

### 3/5 — Help

*2019-07-20*

I do love this app but I’d like to delete many of my activities. The instructions do not work, I cannot swipe left, it does not have an edit button. Help!

**Developer response:** There is an Edit button, it is on the Activities Page top left hand corner. To delete an activity, you must be on the Activities Page. Follow these instructions to find the activity and swipe left on an activity to delete or use the Edit button.
http://www.tenniskeeperapp.com/support/deleteactivity.html

Also, please make sure you are running the latest version.

### 2/5 — Meh

*2019-06-20*

So I wish I would’ve used the app a little before paying the $5 for it or however much it cost. I honestly can’t tell you what the paid version gets you bc you still have to shell out more to do any of the features beyond tracking your scores, strings and shoes, all I’m sure are included in the free version.

Sadly, as of lately, the app doesn’t even stay working and crashes on the watch so it captures nothing. I set it up 3x tonight, to find out later it crashed and didn’t capture anything. Also, you must wear your watch on your swinging hand, which makes sense, but I cannot play like that as it is too bothersome. However, I did once to capture the statistics and I set it up correctly according to their instructions in the app on the phone with hand orientation and all and it still didn’t work accurately at all. It honestly made no difference.

Sadly, I wish it did more but it doesn’t without having to pay way more than I already have and even then it doesn’t work accurately. I’ll stick to solely using it to record usage of my shoes and strings.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-09-28, version 3.28*

Absolute load of rubbish. Purchased in good faith to find it all very clunky and unable to distinguish one shot from another. Tried following instructions to no avail and tried adjusting swing analyser settings but it just randomly identifies shot types incorrectly. Tried to contact developer for some help but no replies.
Don’t waste your money, this is garbage.

### 1/5 — Loses extras regularly

*2025-02-27*

Here I am paying extra for swing analyzer and the app keeps uninstalling it which I find out after playing. Waste of my monthly subscription

### 1/5 — Save your time and money

*2024-10-20*

Doesn’t work. It’s like the developers just stopped working on it years ago. Clunky, inaccurate data, and no real way to fix the mess by the user. I’m sorry I wasted my time and money trying (wishing) it would be what it promised to be.

### 1/5 — Great idea…horrid execution

*2024-01-31*

Hit with the ball machine. 150 balls, 4 forehands to 3 backhands. Groundstrokes only. App records volleys off both wings and 285 forehands and 158 backhands as well. Uninstalled and request a refund, along with reporting a quality issue for an app that would still be worth for $0.00. Definitely not worth any money.

### 1/5 — Great idea…horrid execution

*2024-01-28*

Hit a around with the ball machine.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-02-01, version 3.22*

Ten times I dropped a ball and hit a forehand drive the App correctly classified them as forehands. I did the same for 10 one handed backhand drives and the app classified them all as Serves/Smashes. This means the apps analysis of a normal game will be useless. After a couple of email exchanges with their support team it became obvious that they can’t fix this, it’s something todo with the hand speed and height

### 1/5 — App vanished from watch

*2022-06-16, version 3.19*

I had a really good experience with the free version. So I decided to buy the £4.49 also I bought £1.29, for the swing analyser.

But now the app has completely vanished from my Apple Watch. I’ve tried to unsync my watch, and sync it again, no success.
Tried to install the app many times over and over but no success.

Please can you unfix this, this is a great Apple Watch app, that now doesn’t work, I’ve paid for the full version but it has completely vanished from my Apple Watch.

### 1/5 — Apple watch app keeps crashing

*2022-03-03*

I can't even open the app after this update. Waste of money

### 1/5 — The number of shots and type of shot is off totally off

*2021-09-21*

How can I review this app except with a 1 star when the count of shots and the type of shots is so far off that it’s not even funny.
I have not changed the default settings. I wouldn’t even know where to start.
I had great hopes but at the end of the day
Great disappointment

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-09-20, version 3.8*

Hopeless app that promises so much. I wear the Apple Watch but it doesn’t record movement, steps or heart rate like it says. It tries to sell you additional capabilities even though you pay for Pro level. Not worth the money.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Too good

*2023-03-03, version 3.22*

Don’t understand why people rate it so lowly but I can positively say that this app is amazing for players of any skill level and especially players who are willingly trying to get better every day in tennis and other racket sports

### 5/5 — Great update

*2021-12-17, version 3.16*

Just the functionality I’ve been waiting for. I was always forgetting changing the wrist setting before starting. A step by step guide to shortcuts would be helpful though. Also, at the end of the play, another shorcut that stops, saves and reverses wrist selection would make it even better.

### 5/5 — Great App! Good support!

*2020-09-02*

Been using App for several months. Helped and continuing to help me with the timing of my ground strokes, plus more. Recently had an issue with the app. Emailed support and assisted me in resolving the problem in a timely fashion. Really enjoying the app. Strongly recommend it!!

### 5/5 — Best I’ve found, more functionality would be nice!

*2019-09-26*

I am a club and USTA league player, and I no longer hit without using this app.

I have tried all of the available apps for tracking personal tennis play and info, and I think this is the best option. There is more functionality I would like to see, but I think TennisKeeper and the pro upgrade is worthy.

I cannot hit well with my Apple Watch on my hitting wrist, so the stroke tracking feature is something I do not use.

There are many other essential features that I would not want to live without, however. Consider this package, and I think the pro is worth it even without stoke data:

1. Tracking court time and heath data, integration with Apple health app and apple workout app, logging of steps, heart rate, etc.
2. Tracking of opponents, logging strengths and weaknesses, tracking of record against specific opponents/head to head.
3. String tracking—automatically assign a string job to a specific session, and it will keep a tally of the number of hours played on that string job. Absolutely worth the price of admission just for this feature.
4. Reporting of workouts, by week and month, gives you visualizable data on court time and frequency of play.
5. Health data is approximated and reported even if you do not have an Apple Watch.
6. Shoe tracking, something I do not use, but more competitive match players might.
7. Creating teams, I'm exploring with my doubles partners. No reportable experience yet.
8. Live match tracking, have not exported this nor will I likely be paying the subscription fee for this functionality.

Features I would like to see, which I have expressed directly to the developer:
1. Data export to CSV or XLSX, for workouts, opponents, strings, everything.
2. Data import from CSV or XLSX into the iOS app, especially regarding opponents.
3. Easier access to notes on opponents.

Overall, I'm happy with TK. There is always room for improvement but I feel this is the best option out there, the most functionality I've found in a single interface.

If you're serious about your tennis, you'll have to keep track of the things that this app keeps track of, and you get to do it in one place in a pretty good format with TK. If we were able to export this data, it would be even more useful, but as it stands, every time I walk onto the court, I start TennisKeeper.

### 5/5 — Awesome App!!!

*2019-07-10*

Been using the app for 2+ years with Apple Watch. Keeps track of everything, and I mean all you’ll ever need! Totally worth it!
Keep up the good work!!!

### 5/5 — I LOVE THIS APP!!!

*2019-05-16*

So much so that I switched wearing my watch from left to right for the first time in my life! As a new tennis player I am already hooked and bought the Pro! No player should be without this app ... from beginner to professional. It tracks your steps, calories, number and type of swings, heart rate and more! Thank you for developing this app! It is truly my favorite!

### 5/5 — Great app still learning how to use with watch

*2019-02-11*

This app has been a great way to keep track of my tennis. I’m a beginner always looking for the science behind consistent ground strokes and serves. I’m still unwrapping the app using the Apple Watch component. I still need further study to make use of the novel interpretation of the collected data points. The app gives you a lot to think about and work on! I’m off to a good start! Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great app, tons of data

*2019-01-10*

I love this app. So far, I’ve only used it during lessons, and not for match statistics. It works great automatically. Can sense forehands and backhands and “other” (serves, overheads, and I expect volleys), and gives detailed metrics on every swing if you buy the premium version - swing speed, 2D and 3D views with playback, number of each swing, footsteps, heart rate and more. I’ve found it very easy to use on my Apple Watch - just click lesson, indoor and start and everything logs automatically. Plus, the developer is super responsive and helpful with questions. Definitely a 5 star app for me.

### 5/5 — My own personal Tennis Coach

*2018-12-22, version 2.13*

Use with Apple Watch. Initially downloaded to keep scores and stats. Have now upgraded to Swing Analyser. I have a look at it after a match and it gives me extra info into how I’m hitting the ball. Info is only really relevant for ground strokes but gives a good insight whether the approach and follow through are in the zone. Has helped me concentrate on hitting through the ball and have noticed a definite improvement in my game. Would def recommend.

### 5/5 — Great

*2018-07-04, version 2.6*

Really great idea!!
