## What is Tensora?

Tensora is a precise offline string-tension calculator for guitar and bass players.

Build a setup, choose tuning, gauge, construction, scale length, and reference pitch, then see per-string and total tension update instantly. Tensora supports electric 6/7/8-string, acoustic 6-string, bass 4/5/6-string, baritone, drop tunings, open tunings, multiscale and fanned-fret setups, saved instruments, Finder recommendations, comparison, and reference learning tools.

Version 1.5 adds Setup Risk Brief, a luthier-style preflight card that scores the active setup and flags large tension spread, strings outside the expected comfort band, and interpolated gauge estimates. It helps users decide when to adjust gauges before saving or sharing a set.

The calculator now scores the active setup and flags large tension spread, strings outside the expected comfort band, and interpolated gauge estimates. It gives practical setup notes before you save, compare, or share a string set.

- Flatwound strings - two new string construction types: Flat Wound (electric guitar) and Bass Flat (bass guitar). Flatwounds run 7-18% heavier per inch than roundwounds of the same gauge, producing meaningfully higher tension. Unit weights are back-calculated from published per-string tension data. Both appear in the string editor, Finder, and unit-weight reference table.

- New Learn guide - "Flatwound strings": explains why flatwounds are heavier than roundwounds, who uses them, and how to factor the tension difference into your gauge choice when switching from rounds to flats (or comparing both in the Compare tab).

- Three new glossary entries - Flatwound string, Roundwound string, and Linear density.

New Tuning Range tab: pick any string and Tensora sweeps its pitch up and down to draw a live tension curve, showing exactly where it crosses from slack to balanced to dangerously tight — plus the lowest and highest comfortable notes and how many semitones of drop/raise headroom you have from your current tuning. Also hardened the saved-library loader (a single corrupt setup no longer wipes the whole library), fixed a string-editor gauge-picker warning, and made the Finder recommendation refresh when you switch instruments.

• Compare tab — put two setups side by side. Pick any saved setup as "B" and see total tension, average per-string tension, spread, and a string-by-string delta compared to your current setup "A". Great for checking whether a gauge change on one guitar matches the feel of another.

• Share your setup — tap the share button (↑) in the calculator header to send a complete tension summary (notes, gauges, construction, per-string tensions, total, average, spread) to Messages, Mail, Notes, or any other app.

• Stainless steel wound strings — a new construction type modeled from the published steel/nickel density ratio (≈6.5% heavier than nickel wound at the same gauge). Brighter tone, longer life, and now accurate tension figures in the calculator and Finder. Includes two new Learn guides and a glossary entry.
