## What is Tepi?

Tepi puts every tado° room in one place.

If your home mixes tado° V3+ and tado° X, or spreads them across two tado° accounts, you know the problem: two apps, or endless switching between homes. Tepi shows every room in a single list, with the same controls, and never asks which generation you meant.

LOCAL, AND NO TADO° SIGN-IN NEEDED

Every room, temperature and switch works without one. Changes go straight to the valve over HomeKit, on your own network: in under a second, with no round trip through anyone's servers, and they keep working when your internet is down or tado's API isn't answering.

Signing in is optional. It adds what HomeKit doesn't carry: matching rooms to tado°, device health, day-by-day history for V3+, handing a room back to its tado° schedule, and reaching your home when you're away without a HomePod or Apple TV.

WHAT'S IN IT

• Every room, both generations, all accounts, with current temperature, target, humidity and whether the radiator is actually heating
• tado° X paired straight to Apple Home, one room per room however many devices it has
• Instant control: drag the bar, nudge by half a degree, Boost or Off
• Room groups: switch Upstairs off, or send the bedrooms to Eco, in one tap
• Comfort and Eco: two temperatures you set once and send to every room or to a group
• Quick actions: All off, Comfort, Eco and Resume from the Home Screen icon
• Favourites, custom names, hidden rooms and drag-to-reorder
• Link a room to its tado° room by hand when the names don't match
• One tap to hand a room, a group or the whole house back to its tado° schedule
• Siri and Shortcuts: a room, a group or the whole house, by voice or in a shortcut
• Apple Watch: every room on your wrist, with the Digital Crown, Off, Boost, Comfort, Eco and your groups
• Room history for tado° V3+, kept by tado°, so it's complete even when the app was closed
• Battery, firmware and connectivity for every device

TEPI ASSIST (EXPERIMENTAL, OPTIONAL)

Off until you turn it on. Presence reminds you when you leave home and when you come back: one tap sets the house to Eco, or hands it back to its tado° schedule. Suggestions learn what you usually do and offer it at the right moment, as few or as many as you like. With Apple Weather on, it also suggests heating up before a cold evening. Tepi learns on your iPhone, and nothing changes until you tap.

WHAT IT NEEDS

Your tado° devices have to be visible in Apple's Home app. For tado° V3+ that's the Internet Bridge you already own; no hub is required.

tado° X uses Matter over Thread, so your home needs Thread, usually from a HomePod, an Apple TV or another Thread border router. Tepi explains what's missing.

PRIVACY

No servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Your tado° data goes from tado° to your phone and nowhere else, and nothing is collected in the background. If you use Presence, your exact home location stays on your iPhone too.

The only thing that ever reaches the developer is a support email, if you write one. You can attach a short summary of your setup: it's off unless you turn it on, and you see every word first.

FREE, AND DELIBERATELY SMALL

No subscription, no ads, no in-app purchases. Tepi is built by one person who got tired of switching between two apps to heat one house. Feedback is very welcome: hello@tepiapp.com.

Tepi is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by tado GmbH. tado° is a trademark of tado GmbH.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-12

Your tado° schedules, in Tepi

See each room's tado° schedule as a week, on both generations, and change it: move a time, split a block, set a temperature. Nothing reaches tado° until you press Save. Tepi tells you first how many of tado°'s daily requests it will use, and checks afterwards that tado° kept exactly what you saved. Earlier versions are kept, so a change can be undone, and a week can be copied to other rooms.

Turn it on in Settings → Tepi Assist → Schedules, with Show or Edit. It needs your tado° account.

- Tepi tells you when a room's schedule has been paused for more than a day by a temperature set by hand, and where to resume it.
- If Suggestions are on, Tepi can notice when what you set by hand keeps disagreeing with a room's schedule, and offer to change it. It never changes it on its own.

A fresh look

Room cards show what each room is doing at a glance: warm when it's heating, cool when it's off, "Heating to 22°" or "Set to 21°", and a thin bar from where the room is to where it's going. The room screen leads with the temperature you're setting. Devices puts what needs attention first. On Apple Watch, the ring shows where the room is now, and the house is summed up under the title.

Also in this version

- Tepi Assist has its own button on the Rooms screen, and a line there when something needs a look.
- Each room shows its Home app room under its name.
- See at a glance which firmware version each device runs: Devices now shows it on every device, with a summary per type of device at the top.
- Removing a room or a group removes it from Siri's suggestions too.
- Long room names and large text sizes wrap instead of being cut off.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-05

Tepi Assist (experimental)

Optional help that notices things and offers, and never acts on its own. It's off until you turn it on in Settings.

• Presence: when you leave home, a reminder to set the house to Eco. When you come back, one to hand the heating back to its tado° schedule. One tap does it.
• Suggestions: Tepi learns what you usually do, like "the living room to 21° around 18:30 on weekdays", and offers it at the right moment. You choose how many, from one a day inside Tepi to five as quiet notifications. Nothing at night.
• Outdoor temperature, if you switch it on: suggestions before a cold evening, from Apple Weather, only for rooms you've heated in similar weather.

Tepi learns on your iPhone. Presence only asks for your location while you're using the app, and your exact home location never leaves your phone. Outdoor temperature, if you turn it on, sends Apple Weather a location rounded to about 1 km.

Siri and Shortcuts

"Set the heating to Eco with Tepi". Or add any room or group to a shortcut: off, Comfort, Eco, a temperature, or back to the tado° schedule.

Apple Watch

Tepi now has an Apple Watch app: your rooms, with the names and order you gave them on the iPhone. Turn the Digital Crown to set a room, or tap Off or Boost; All off, Comfort, Eco and your groups are there too. The watch reaches your radiators through Apple Home itself, so the iPhone can stay in your pocket. Away from home it needs a home hub, as Apple's Home app does.

Now in Dutch, French, Italian and Spanish

Tepi speaks Nederlands, Français, Italiano and Español, as well as English and German.

Also in this version

The Devices tab now shows how many devices need attention: a low battery, or one that's offline. It replaces the notification Tepi used to send while you were already looking at the list.

A lot of rebuilding under the surface, so Tepi stays reliable as it grows. If anything behaves differently from before, please tell me: hello@tepiapp.com

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-29

tado X in Apple Home

If you paired tado X straight to Apple Home, Tepi now shows it. Each room appears once, however many radiator thermostats and sensors it has, and a change goes to all of them. If some don't take it, Tepi tells you.

Room groups

Put rooms together, like Upstairs or Bedrooms, and switch them off, send them to Comfort or Eco, set one temperature, or hand them back to tado in one tap.

Quick actions

Press and hold the Tepi icon for All off, Comfort, Eco and Resume schedules, straight from the Home Screen.

Fixes

- Fixes a bug that could sign you out of your tado account after a while. If it happened to you, sign in once more under Settings.
- Fixes a crash that could happen while changing a temperature, and a Rooms screen that could come back blank.
- All off, Comfort, Eco and Resume show their progress while they run.
- Rooms where Apple Home only has a temperature sensor are shown as read only, with what would let Tepi change them.

Also in this version

Tepi now shows only tado devices, as the tado app does. If Tepi can't confirm a room belongs to tado, it shows it with a lock until you link it to its tado room, and it won't change it until then. The demo home works better too.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-24

Comfort and Eco

Two temperatures you set once, then send to the whole house with one tap. Comfort for when you're in, Eco for when you're not. Both live in Settings and start at 21° and 17°.

Link a room to tado by hand

If your valve is called one thing in tado and another in Apple Home, Tepi could not match them, so the room had no history and no battery reading. You can now pick the right tado room yourself, and what you pick always wins.

Tepi now says when it can't read a device

Some heating devices report to Apple Home in a way Tepi doesn't handle yet. Until now those were simply missing, with no explanation unless every room in the house was missing. Tepi now mentions it, shows you exactly what your Home app is reporting about the device, and can include it in a report so I can add support for it.

Also in this version

Tepi keeps a short record of what it did, so a support message can say what happened. It never leaves your phone unless you attach it, and you see it first.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-21

The Devices list now names each row by room instead of by a device code, so a
house with a dozen valves is readable at a glance.

Firmware now says where the number came from. The same valve can report one
version to HomeKit and a different one to tado°, and both screens were simply
calling it "Firmware".

If your Home app has a heating device Tepi can't read yet, it now says so
instead of telling you there are no thermostats in your home.
