Reference evapotranspiration is modeled with the FAO-56 Penman–Monteith framework, WeatherKit data, and modeled solar radiation. Plant-specific crop coefficients translate atmospheric demand into estimated plant water loss. MODELED SOLAR ENERGY Incoming solar radiation is modeled from sun position, location, date and time, terrain elevation, and cloud cover. The same value is used in the evapotranspiration calculation, displayed in the app, and synchronized to widgets. A MODEL, NOT A SENSOR Terra does not measure soil moisture. Estimated Water Reserve is a meteorological and physics-based model, not a direct reading from your soil or plant. Use it alongside your own observation of the plant, soil, and growing environment. Terra cannot account for every site-specific process, including runoff, canopy interception, deep drainage, container geometry, overhead shelter, infiltration, root restrictions, or water applied.
