## What is Tesla Screen Mirror?

Relay mirrors your iPhone's screen onto your Tesla's own browser nothing is installed in the car.

Open Waze, YouTube, Netflix, TikTok or anything else on your phone, and watch it on the car's centre display. The picture streams directly between your phone and the car over WebRTC, encrypted end to end.

HOW IT WORKS
• Pair once by typing the six-digit code shown on the car's browser.
• Relay remembers your car next time, it reconnects on its own.
• Works over Wi-Fi or LTE. When the car and phone are on different networks, Relay routes through an encrypted relay automatically, without you doing anything.

BUILT FOR THE CAR
• The picture stays upright, however you hold your phone.
• Up to 1440p, switchable live without dropping the connection.
• Adapts automatically to a weak signal instead of freezing.
• Optional microphone audio alongside the picture.

PRIVACY
The video is never recorded or stored, by Relay or anyone else. It travels directly between your two devices, and stays encrypted even on the rare route that needs a relay server to get there.

RELAY PREMIUM
The first 24 hours after pairing your car are free. After that, Relay Premium is $3.99 USD a month (or the equivalent for your country), billed through your Apple ID and auto-renewing until cancelled. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-24

Clearer error messages if Sign in with Apple or a purchase doesn't go through.

The subscription panel now only appears once it's actually relevant.

Automatically lowers streaming quality if your phone is running hot, instead of pushing it further.

Onboarding now explains that Tesla pauses browser video while driving, the same as YouTube or Netflix — not something Relay can change.

Minor accessibility and stability improvements.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-14

See at a glance when picture quality drops to keep up with a weak connection.

Copy your account code with one tap when adding it to another car or screen.

Under-the-hood stability improvements.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-11

Error messages now appear in your own language. Some, including the one shown when a purchase could not be confirmed with Apple, were still displayed in English.

Subscribers whose purchase could not be confirmed will find it recognised automatically the next time they connect to their car.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-05

Fixes two ways a cast could stop on its own.

Sharing a full-screen video no longer ends the broadcast. Scenes where most of the picture changes at once could push the screen-sharing extension past its memory limit, and iOS would shut it down.

The cast also survives losing signal now. Tunnels, dead spots and switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data used to end the session after about half a minute; it keeps reconnecting for as long as you leave it running, and picks the car back up on its own.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-04

No release notes.
