## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless

*2024-03-28, version 1.3*

Crashes immediately on launch; I haven’t yet caught a glimpse of the user interface, let alone TeX a document.

iPad Mini 5, iPadOS 17.3.1, 256 GB storage (192 GB free). Perhaps the developer only tests on an iPad Pro or suchlike.

### 1/5 — Crashes on launch

*2024-02-09, version 1.3*

The app sounded very promising, but it just kept crashing on launch. Please fix this issue (iPad Pro 6, iOS 17)

### 1/5 — Crashes immediately upon opening

*2023-12-27, version 1.3*

I have a 4th Gen iPad Pro running iOS 16.1.1.

### 1/5 — Dead app

*2023-09-19, version 1.3*

This app will not open: I try to open it and it immediately crashes and closes.

### 1/5 — App crashes

*2023-08-11, version 1.3*

Hasn’t been updated in years and doesn’t work. Avoid

### 1/5 — Don't buy

*2023-06-23, version 1.3*

This app was great when it worked, but for the last year it crashes on startup.

### 1/5 — Dead app

*2023-05-23*

This app will not open: I try to open it and it immediately crashes and closes.

### 1/5 — CRASH on the ipad os 16 or later

*2023-05-20, version 1.3*

I have tried so many times but it cannot work on ipad os 16 or later. Feedback to the developers comes with nothing. No update, no response at all. Be aware that THIS IS A PURCHASED SOFTWARE BUT CANNOT WORK! I would rank 0 star to this app if possible. I hope Apple could investigate this app and its developers because it is unacceptable that you provide an app that cannot work for so long time. Now the developers website seems to be unaccessible. This is ridiculous that Apple Store has an app which need purchase but cannot work at all. Any official responses?

### 1/5 — Crashes on Launch

*2023-04-17, version 1.3*

Crashes on launch still (April 2023)

### 1/5 — App no longer works - don’t buy!

*2023-02-25, version 1.3*

As the review title says - ever since the most recent update it no longer works… great…

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great

*2022-06-06, version 1.3*

You can import packages from CTAN and have your local texmf files. Import .Tex files from iCloud and also folders. Uses a local TeXLive repository. I have all the Tex programs and this is one i have been using a lot. There is a shortcut menu bar that takes up a lot of screen space. Since you will only use these once in a while better leave time to key-combos and/or be able to hide that part of the menu.

### 5/5 — Amazing App.

*2021-08-17, version 1.3*

Studying first year maths and physics and it works like a charm. It has a matrix maker so you don’t have to manually do the code as well. I learnt latex on this and it was really easy, now I use it everyday and I haven’t had a single issue. Anyone on the fence, you can’t go wrong, you’ve got a free trial period to test it out. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to learn or use LaTeX on their iPad (and works even better with magic keyboard).

### 5/5 — Really handy app

*2021-03-23, version 1.1*

I’ve been using it for my notes and the figure drawing feature is really handy for quick diagrams. Could see this replacing overleaf for me. Would be nice to have dark mode.

### 5/5 — Pretty easy to use

*2021-02-27, version 1.0*

Matrix editor was helpful to do my math 241 hw. Tutorials were helpful to get started too.

### 5/5 — This is what I’ve been looking for!

*2021-02-21, version 1.0*

TeXable is the first app to make use of the fact that the iPad has a touch screen that can be used to draw things, perhaps to add them as a figure. This is massively helpful in generating quick LaTeX documents for homework when you don’t have time to create fancy images and just want to draw a quick figure to convey the meaning. Good stuff!

### 4/5 — Promising

*2021-05-10, version 1.3*

The app seems to be a great solution to write a LaTeX project on the iPad. However, you cannot link a folder from the Files app. This means everything you do is siloed in the the app’s own folder, and to sync with other computers, the only way seems to be by manually exporting and importing the project. Once this feature is implemented, I think this could be the best solution for TeX on iPad!

### 4/5 — Cool but needs polish

*2021-04-20, version 1.3*

Cool app, but some of the ui and interactions could use a bit more polish. It would also be nice if there’s git integration to import and sync projects.

### 2/5 — Pretty cool, but no typesetter support

*2022-01-08, version 1.3*

This is actually a really impressive and fairly polished project. I still had a heck of a time getting files into the app because it isn't exposed to the iPad's sharing menu for some reason. The ZIP import fallback did work.

Unfortunately, I can't use the app for my projects because they require XeLaTeX or LuLaTeX support for typesetting fonts. Texable only supports pdfLaTeX.
