### 1/5 — Awful

*2017-08-20, version 2.07.03*

Hardly ever works and when it does it isn't very good.

### 1/5 — Should be ashamed of themselves

*2017-07-28, version 2.07.03*

We paid over 1000 pounds for a new alarm system and we're told how wonderful it's connectivity was... Only to later experience the abomination that is this app. Only ever managed to get it to work two or three times in two years. Absolutely diabolical. I run a software company and in this day and age it's actually quite a feat to build software so utterly bad. But congrats to these guys, you managed it ... and then some.

I doubt Texecon read this but if they do maybe they'll realize the false economy as many people will never ever buy their products again

### 1/5 — Very poor

*2017-06-28, version 2.07.03*

I use Texecom equipment daily and have done for years as it is generally solid and user friendly. This app is surprisingly bad with lots of room for improvement. Avoid until improved.

### 1/5 — So disappointed

*2017-06-17, version 2.07.03*

Unfortunately this app is so poor it's unusable, please invest some time / money and make it work!

Won't connect / screen freezes / App shuts it self down...

I can connect to my panel with wintex and a laptop robustly every time so it's not the wifi or setup.

Not yet setup the notifications but as I can't simply connect inside the same network I don't hold much hope for the more advanced functions.

### 1/5 — Very very bad..

*2017-02-03, version 2.07.03*

Laughably bad and unreliable. Typical Texe on. Time to find an alternative brand.

### 1/5 — Desperately needs updating

*2016-11-21, version 2.07.03*

Really needs updating. Still buggy and slow and often have problems. I really wouldn't rely on this to tell me if my alarm actually went off.

### 1/5 — Really poor

*2016-08-23, version 2.07.03*

Just had a new alarm installed and have nothing but problems with this app not connecting. Normally have to quit the app (double tap, swipe up) and restart it. Not quite the experience I was hoping for. Really dated app...

### 1/5 — Embarrassingly bad

*2016-07-24, version 2.07.03*

I write software for a living and I would cringe to release something this poor. Once you have managed to get it working (which is tricky due to inaccurate instructions in the manual) you find that the app is clunky, buggy, crashy, and unintuitive. The entire premise of this app is to replicate a cheap keypad with a two line display on a modern smartphone. It is like going back two decades and using my first mobile phone, a Nokia 3210, all over again.. but with much smaller buttons.

I question the security of this app too, given that you are required to punch a hole in your firewall to use it, and there is research online that finds a lack of encryption in the communications. I recommend connecting to this via a VPN rather than punching a hole in your firewall.

The old alarm business is going to be turned on its head by the startups like Nest, Canary, etc. With app offerings like this, it will be sooner rather than later. We can only hope.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2016-07-07, version 2.07.03*

The app is just unusable. If i had known had bad the app was then I would have bought a different alarm system. Will never buy this make again. So difficult to setup and so confusing to use day to day.

### 1/5 — Er...

*2016-06-30, version 2.07.03*

Looks and behaves like something from Space Quest 3. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish

*2016-06-19, version 2.07.03*

UI is rubbish, app keeps crashing, the 0 features it does have hardly ever work. The whole panel display looks cheap and ugly. Nowhere near up to the standards in looks, features and app stability to today's standards and compared to other apps. School kids could make a better job of it seriously texecom sort your dev team out! No easy way to arm/disarm alarm and no easy way to setup email alerts/notifications using the app. Would give a 0 rating if I could as even a 1 would suggest there was some sort of app stability/good feature. Really frustrating

### 1/5 — Worthless!

*2016-06-18, version 2.07.03*

Crashes. Non-intuitive. Bad design. Can't even use this to remotely set alarm.

### 1/5 — Awful - other alarm companies much better

*2016-05-30, version 2.07.03*

Very disappointing, UI obviously hasn't been updated in a very long time. Clunky to use - certainly wouldn't use it everyday. Arm/disarm controls buried within app when should be on the first screen.

I hope Texecom realise that apps are now a core part of the product not just a gimmick.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App stopped working after IOS update 8.4.1

*2025-05-20, version 2.0.13*

Reported issue with Texecom over 2 weeks ago still not fixed 🙁

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2021-12-07, version 2.0.13*

Never works

### 1/5 — Load of rubbish

*2019-03-20, version 2.0.11*

I payed one thousand pounds for an alarm with an app to inform me of what’s happening at home and the app is useless, for all I know now someone could be braking in whilst I type this and I wouldn’t have a clue , spend your money on something else people.... this app had had lots of complaints but Texecom clearly don’t care what there customers think ....

### 1/5 — Did work, now doesn’t

*2018-11-28, version 2.0.11*

Used to work 90% of the time. Since most recent update, now doesn’t work at all and won’t connect to my system!

### 1/5 — Poor

*2018-11-05, version 2.0.10*

The Oct 2018 update has messed up encryption so I can no longer login to my panel. Keep getting not encrypted error.

### 1/5 — Can't connect to my site since update

*2018-10-13*

I've just moved to the new iPhone XS Max, app worked perfectly like it should until the recent update, before this supposed fix. Since that update i receive notifications but can't connect. Settings are as they were before.

### 1/5 — Just erased my settings

*2018-10-11, version 2.0.8*

There is a note on the latest update that says “don’t install this update if you have one site”. Don’t they realise that customer have auto update .. now I’m stuck !!! Horrible...

### 1/5 — Your update is not working

*2018-10-11*

Please fix your update. When I login the letters look like Chinese.

### 1/5 — Settings Deleted

*2018-10-10, version 2.0.8*

Downloaded the update all the settings and passwords have been deleted rendering the app useless

### 1/5 — Does not work on 4g

*2017-09-21, version 2.07.03*

This is a good idea, and it works fine on wi fi, however, it will not connect on 4g rendering it pretty much useless !

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wifi com

*2017-10-15, version 2.07.03*

I've just installed the Texecom premier elite panel in using expander in shed. I've got the com GSM and everything works great

As for the wifi and the ip com as to what I believe u gotta know a quite a bit to set it up

I main thing is u gotta power ur system down everytime u add new hardware n to what I've been reading here and there this will only work if u got Texecom systems Eg wifi com GSM com ip com installed to ur alarm system

I'll let u guys know how it goes when I get mine r u even using wintex

### 5/5 — Good for now!

*2017-06-30, version 2.07.03*

Ignore the low reviews, this app works. Yes it's a little clunky but it works. I've got a feeling there will be a big update for this once texecom connect range is released. Needs to be setup and explained by a security installer, not a DIY installer without IT/security knowledge.
Instructions that come with the comIP or ComWifi are spot on, don't understand the other reviews? Technical support also very helpful.
I have used this with issue on most of my sites a works like a dream remotely.

### 5/5 — Com wifi

*2017-05-24, version 2.07.03*

I have got several customers using this app now and it works fine. you need some networking experience to set it up but that's just like anything now.

### 4/5 — Useful

*2017-01-09, version 2.07.03*

We use this app to part arm the system every night once we're settled down, it's worked well for a few months now. Recommend encryption (which isn't on by default) and strong passwords though!

### 4/5 — Good to see

*2016-09-08, version 2.07.03*

Unlike some reviews I will be constructive with my approach

This App is slightly clunky, but most of the time it's down to the device being used and the network coverage
I recently setup this app on 4 devices, and they all connect to the system ok, I noticed that one of the devices had low signal and also was generally slow at opening all its apps and functioning them, all other devices were great !
Another thing I noticed was when you close the app it will state closing please wait, however you are better to close the app down after in the background.
This will let you connect straight away to the app no problem.
If you do not do this you will find connection issues, and also no display on the keypad once connected.
All apps start somewhere and this is not bad giving the functions you can do using it.

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2015-12-30, version 2.0.5.31*

When I first got the alarm the person that installed it didn't really know how to set the Internet part up and it kept dropping in and out all the time and kept blaming it on IT problems. So I got an alarm/IT specialist in (very rare" and it works a treat no matter where I am, wether I'm on the home wifi or at work. Only had it done a week ago but so far so good!

### 2/5 — Oh dear

*2018-12-11, version 2.0.11*

Another in the long line of “apps” with a silent prefix spelt “Cr”

This offering is in stark contrast to the hardware which is extremely good. However, this is so bad in its execution, it would have been better had it been removed rather than let out.

### 2/5 — Can be frustrating

*2016-09-07, version 2.07.03*

I am an engineer and install these a lot for people.
It's certainly not smooth ride.
Sometimes it works straight away, other times it doesn't.
It can be annoying when you have to explain to the customer if it fails to connect, close it down completely and re open. :-s
lol. Bangs head against wall.

### 2/5 — Needs Work

*2014-03-20, version 1.0.32*

This needs work - lots of it please Texecom.
1. Crashes regulalry
2. No back button in landscape screen
3. Screen changes OK from portrait or landscape but won't change back - you just get a white screen.
4. Login succesful is displayed when you have not logged in
5. You can select a site when you log in but the change the site once you are logged in so you don't know which site you are looking at. See 9 also.
6. Too many times get UDL Code request when logging into keypad when nothing has changed - this login process can be very unreliable even on WiFi.
7. Too many times the app crashes and the only way out is to close the app and start again - even on WiFi
8. The Smartkey is very poor: says the area is alarmed when it is not and seems to get confused between zones; no feedback on button press to say successful or not; reports (sometimes) cannot set alarm as zone insecure when it is ALL secure (proved by Area Status); LEDs - no text to say what they mean; instructions LED 1 has pink, blue and turquoise modes but I get orange too.
9. The fact that you can change the zones say from 'A' to 'B' once you are logged in means you do not know which zone the Smartkey is logged in as.
10. The system cannot manage going from Smartkey to Keypad and displays 'Connecting...' or 'UDL Password'. If you then go back to the login screen it wiks OK - even on WiFi.
11. The instructions are woeful. I needed to add a second zone (the app calls this a 'Site') even though the app has space for three sites or zones the instructions do not cover how to add additional zones by trial and error.
It seems like a typical app that has not been tested fully and it is a matter of luck whether anything happens the way you want it to happen. Come on Texecom, you are a worlwide professional company, can we see this refected in these apps please?
