### 4/5 — Very very good

*2022-10-18, version 3.0.5*

The only negative is that seems to not be updated. I don’t any more features. Just trying to stay current with Apple is almost a full time job. I would buy this app for $5 to turn off the ads.

### 3/5 — Text edit ok but…

*2021-08-01, version 3.0.5*

It will edit text just fine but when I edited an include .txt file, it did not encode UTF-8 or the line ending was not UNIX (LF), the ‘JavaScript include’ stopped working.

### 4/5 — ?

*2020-04-19, version 3.0.5*

How can I display my file?

### 4/5 — Please app not work with google drive.

*2020-03-09, version 3.0.5*

Lastest version does not work with gdrive any more.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2019-12-13, version 3.0.5*

This is an awesome app that allows editing of text edit files. To achieve perfection, I have two wishes:

1. I wish it kept a local version of the Dropbox files. I use it for recipes and it kind of bugs that it has to be reopened and sync to Dropbox to open the file if the phone falls asleep in the middle.

2. Given it doesn’t do thing one, it’s really weird that it maintains its own file names. There are a handful of items that are capitalized on the phone, despite being lowercase on Dropbox. It should fix the names to match Dropbox. It’s extra insulting to not do that given that it doesn’t actually keep local copies of the files. It’s just weird.

### 3/5 — Not what I expected =(

*2019-05-29, version 3.0.5*

This app may be useful, but it has issues. It doesn't have the option to export text file to any file manager app other than cloud storage apps. I also can't import text file from the file manager app. If these issues are fixed, then I can write more positive review about this text editor app. Depending on how user friendly this app is and how many issues are fixed, I can give you somewhere between 4 to 5 stars.

### 2/5 — Good enough

*2019-02-21, version 3.0.5*

This app does what it says. It allows you to create a text file and save it as any extension so you can code and get that syntax and coloring for that language. However, that’s where it becomes bothersome . It took me over an hour to create a simple html form because this app doesn’t read the editor correctly. For example I attempted to create a ‘radio’ button but it defaulted to text input because the app wouldn’t read the ‘type’ attribute radio in the double quotes . Not sure if this is an app dev issue or iPhone keypad but I had to copy and paste the attribute from w3 (really anywhere but I was at work hence using mobile I don’t have all my usual resources) once pasted in this app I saved and ran the program it finally switched to radio buttons but when I returned to the editor the attribute went from blue highlight to black text and wasn’t reading they type attribute . Nothing I do fixes this issue besides pasting it in for a temporary solution. I would reach out to support on this but reading other reviews seems like they don’t really care and usually ignore the review and reply thanks for a review (seen several with questions never answered)
.....

In short : get this app if you want to do a quick and dirty review of some code (I have only done html ) so far only issue is the type attribute in the <input> based on how basic that attribute is I would believe there probably a lot more reading issues. If you are not coding something large this helps get you till you get to your computer but don’t expect much.

### 3/5 — Works well

*2019-02-10, version 3.0.5*

The editor works well. The only problem I see is that the cursor do not always position right. Many times when I tap the end of one line the cursor will be on the next line few characters out.

### 1/5 — “No file”

*2018-11-06, version 3.0.0*

Displays “No file” and none of the server buttons work.

### 1/5 — Just noooooooo

*2018-08-21, version 2.5.1*

No

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — How?

*2022-10-07, version 3.0.5*

How in the world do you use this thing? I tried so many times and I cannot even make a single font! Please tell me how to use

### 1/5 — Font size always 1 pixel! Nothing shows.

*2021-05-20*

When I create or edit a file, I can see on the status line that my text is entered, I see the number of characters and lines, but nothing shows. I change fonts and their sizes in Settings, but the size ALWAYS reverts to 1 pixel. In the upper left corner one can see a single pixel moving as you type, it appears that all the input goes there...

### 1/5 — Can't export files in any way. Files are stuck on iPad.

*2020-12-21, version 3.0.5*

The files you save in this app don't show up in the Files app in iOS, AND the export feature in PWEditor doesn't work. Both the local and internet versions of the export feature in PWEditor don't work, even after you download the OneDrive app and sign in. PWEditor always gives an error saying "No subdirectory in directory info list". I know that; I want to save it in THIS directory, but you won't let me. PWEditor WON'T let me save files to OneDrive. And PWEditor WON'T let me export files locally. And the files saved in PWEditor don't show up in the Files app on iOS. So the files I save in PWEditor are STUCK on my iPad. On this app, the only way to get the text files off the iPad is to open the txt file, manually select all the text, copy it, paste it in an email to yourself, then open it up in a computer and copy it to Notepad. And I just use txt files for notes, I would guess that you don't want to use that method if you're coding something -- which renders all the txt files stuck on your iPad with no way to ever get them off. For programmers, this app is completely worthless. For someone like me who just uses txt files for notes, this app is mostly worthless. I'm in iOS 14.

Also, the user should be allowed to write the contents of a file before naming and saving the file.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work - can’t get it to find any files

*2019-10-29, version 3.0.5*

No files found anywhere. Doesn’t ask for permissions. Zero responsiveness on iPadOS, cannot access other drives either (no prompt to log in or anything). No access to iPad file system. It was a free app, and may have once been great, but appears to not be kept up to date. Would be good once it works with iPadOS.

### 1/5 — Messed up html replacing characters

*2019-10-12, version 3.0.5*

Messed up my website. Changed dashes to underscores. Messed up the html by replacing characters.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2019-09-20, version 3.0.5*

Couldn’t even view files on iCloud Drive.

### 1/5 — Basic file access capabilities missing

*2019-08-23, version 3.0.5*

I am not a dgital technology genius but I am no novice to computers and software either. But using this app I could not even browse through my Ipad to find a locally stored file. Under that condition this app turned out to be completely useless for my needs.

### 1/5 — Does not save files to iPhone correctly

*2018-12-15, version 3.0.3*

Created file named test.txt. Saved to Files folder. Created 2nd file named testtwo.txt. The app would not save 2nd file. It saved test.txt over and over.

### 1/5 — But

*2018-12-02*

Pas d’affichage du fichier !!!
Écran vide !!

**Developer response:** Merci d’utiliser PWEditor.
Le fichier ne s'affiche pas au démarrage de la première application.
Veuillez appuyer sur le bouton "+" de la barre d’outils pour créer le fichier.

### 1/5 — Unicode

*2018-11-09, version 3.0.1*

This editor transparently substitutes multi character Unicode for straight text. Found this out in a test run trying to enter a simple Hello World program in C, when I typed “Hello World” the double quote characters (which should have been encoded as 0x22) were encoded as 0xe2 0x80 0x9c (left double quote) and 0xe2 0x80 0x9d (right quote), which made GCC choke. This makes this editor worthless to me for entering source code.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best test editor!

*2020-06-06*

Good for iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive and Box users.
Currently, not working for Google Drive.

### 5/5 — very nice

*2020-04-14, version 3.0.5*

loooove the app! 😺 needs some polishing but very very nice!!

### 5/5 — I really like your editor.

*2019-11-03, version 3.0.5*

I like text editors over rich text most of the time. So far, I have no disappointments in text editing or programming.

I would like to request one feature... share to (share sheet in Apple lingo?).

Continue the good work! : )

### 5/5 — iPadOS’s split view fully supported!!!!

*2019-10-24, version 3.0.5*

Now I can edit texts side by side with Safari or any apps supported for iPadOS’s split view mode.

Mult file edit function is great! You can go back and forth between multiple dropbox files by swiping menu bar on the bottom.

My favorite text editor is not supported for split view, so I was looking for a new one. PWEditor is exactly what I was looking for.

### 5/5 — Perfect for many uses!

*2019-08-30, version 3.0.5*

Initially, I downloaded this app as an alternative to Apple’s Notes app because I share iCloud with my wife and she loves to put photos into her notes which makes it insanely convoluted on my end... lol ...but I’ve come to love it as an html, css, js, php editor on the go as well. Thanks for developing this app! The only thing I could possibly ask for is that there would be a way to pay for a premium version (which I’d gladly pay!) so I could have the extra 1/2 inch of screen space on the bottom instead of a GoogleAd 😬

### 5/5 — Beautiful!

*2019-07-31, version 3.0.5*

This is amazing and it lets me edit my website via FTP or my personal offline Dropbox files. I just think there’s bit of a parsing error somewhere — I’ll have double quotes (") in my code but when I edit it I’ll see slanted double quotes (“) then I’ll have to go throughout my document and replace them with the straight double quotes (").

I’m on iPhone 6.

I wish it had a Dark Mode (in the Text Editor also) option too, that’d be beautiful for coding at night in bed before I go to sleep.

### 5/5 — Not what I expected, but great! 👍

*2019-06-27, version 3.0.5*

I was looking for an app that could let you edit code from video games. This doesn’t help you edit code from video games, I know, but it does help you write code for them, and that is just as good. This app is very helpful and I would recommend it to coders out there. It is a great app for writing code and I promise you will love it for coding. Please consider downloading this app if you are looking for something that follows that description. This is an amazing app, and once again, I promise you will love this app and all of its helpful tools to help you code more easily. If you are a coder, get this app for sure! 😉

### 5/5 — A tip!

*2019-05-15, version 3.0.5*

Turn off smart punctuation.

Prevents the conversion of double quotes to the curly ones.

### 5/5 — Not what I’m looking for.

*2019-02-06, version 3.0.5*

If I didn’t do robotics I would have no clue what this app did. When I downloaded it, I thought it would be more like to Grammarly, but it’s not. It’s for writing CODE. Which was purely my mistake. The app ran smoothly and works well, and I would recommend it. The app is just not my type.

### 5/5 — Very useful!

*2019-01-18, version 3.0.5*

My only suggestion would be to improve dark mode by using a dark keyboard (keyboardAppearance) as well.
