I paid for a one-year subscription, and it worked for 24 hours. After that, the app asked me to restore my purchase, so I did. It went through, but now the app is asking me to pay a higher price. Is this a bug or a scam?

Some shady apps do exactly what I stated above: let you in briefly, then push you to a higher price point, hoping you’ll give up and pay.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve faced with the subscription. This is not intentional or a scam — the issue is due to a temporary technical problem with the annual plan, which is currently unavailable for all users.

As we’ve mentioned in our email, you can request a refund directly through Apple, and your money will be fully returned. In addition, once Apple approves our new monthly subscription, we will send you a promo code for one free month as a gesture of apology and appreciation for your patience.
