## Newest reviews (4 of 24)

### 2/5 — No controls on audio lesson!

*2011-02-12, version 0*

This CRITICALLY important and useful function is missing in the Thai WN app, Which is otherwise useful and one of the better free language apps.

### 2/5 — Sounds weird

*2009-11-15, version 0*

I think the person in the audio course doesn't sound like a native Thai at all. I'm Thai so I know the differences. Many pronunciation sounded like Chinese!

### 2/5 — Nomad? Hardly

*2009-06-25, version 0*

Though they use an authentic Thai speaker for translations, this app is extremely wanting. It does not address tones, I've found several mistranslations (sanook means 'fun' not 'like'), and worse: several mistransliterations. It's one thing to opt out of tones (beginners won't grasp it anyway) but transliteration is quite easy. It's not like Chinese script. Thai is not pictographic.

I gave it two stars because of the Travel Safety phrase 'Those drugs aren't mine!' Apparently, this app is for uninformed Australian college students on holiday.

### 2/5 — Not bad but very limited use

*2008-12-22, version 0*

The coverage provided by this guide is far too basic! I deleted it within a week for this reason. For instance, under time/numbers, months and days of the week, etc. could have been included, instead of just 1 to 10. Its usefulness will be limited in areas where only Thai, not English, is used. For a free app, however, it is not too bad.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — terrible translation

*2012-07-12, version 2.3*

is this a joke??? don't bother.

### 1/5 — WRONG Translations!

*2012-03-28, version 2.0*

My mother is Thai and I was born there, and know the language well enough to know that the Thai phrases given are wrong. The single words given may be correct, but adjectives and verbs are not only used wrong, but are not pronounced properly. This app was OBViOuSly created by a foreigner and NOT an actual Thai speaking creator. Booooooo. Buy a lonely planet book instead. Thai people don't mind if you pronounce words wrong - as long as you Try.

### 1/5 — 1 star

*2010-06-23, version 0*

The audio quality is poor, some of the words or phrases have been sped up.

### 1/5 — The Worst Phrase App I've Ever Seen

*2010-01-10, version 0*

This is by far the worst phrase app I've ever seen. All the translations are written in English, there is no Thai. On the loud streets of Bangkok it is easier to show someone what you are trying to say rather than handing them your phone to try and listen to the speaker. Also the so called Language Lesson is nothing but a conversation between a Thai and a farang. There isn't actually a lesson here, but rather a converstation that you can't pause or rewind to try and study further.

### 1/5 — Mr

*2009-01-09, version 0*

Could be a very nice program. Good interface, but way to few words and phrases. Hopefully more to come soon.!!! Also would be nice with more mumbers.

### 1/5 — 2 wrong translate

*2009-01-05, version 0*

Everything is fine except the "place to stay " 2 of them are wrong. I dont like this and i like this are saying very fun and not fun.

### 1/5 — Not bad

*2008-11-29, version 0*

Good app for leading basic Thai mainly for travelling purposes

### 1/5 — Free for a reason

*2008-11-29, version 0*

Not much in here. A few words, some numbers, and one audio coversation between a tourist and a Thai selling shirts (with an ad plug at the end for travel insurance). You can't pause or reverse the audio "lesson". One star, because the price is right.

### 1/5 — Stay Away From This (Update)

*2008-11-26, version 0*

(update - as of writing this, the only review on this app is this review showing 1 star, but the average star rating is 2 stars, how is that possible? Also, 0 of 2 people found this review helpful. One may not agree with the review, but to vote that the detailed informatoin did not help at all seems interesting, especially since app developers who are angry with low ratings can just click that it was not helpful and even write fake positive reviews. I won't be wasting any more time trying give detailed reviews and to Apple, this review writing system will give more and more B.S. reviews like "rock on dude" or "I like glass." )
Pass on this. Even for free, if the information is not all correct or at least full of useful information, what's the point? There is a grand total of 26 phrases in this plus numbers 1-10. The audio pronunciations in the introductions section are clipped by the speaker and sound a bit off. The language lesson is filled with a "Thai" person "teaching" a foreigner how to speak, but many times not completely clear. There is also no way to pause, fast forward or rewind the long lesson; you have to listen to it from the beginning every time. Also, the number of phrases per section is anemic. Example - under the heading "Dates" there are only four entries: Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday, Now. The "Thai" speaker pronounces the "nee" part of "wun nee" with the wrong tone and the English phonetics do not have tone marks, so you have no accurate information at all in that case. TO EVERYONE WANTING TO FIND A GOOD ENGLISH PHONETIC PHRASE APP OR BOOK...YOU MUST FIND ONE WITH A TONE MARK SYSTEM IN IT. Using a wrong tone in Thai changes the actual word to a different word or a nonsense word. They even mention this in the little language lesson in this app, yet they don't put tone marks for the phonetics. Bottom line, if you want to learn and listen to Thai numbers one through ten, then for free, this has it. Again beware in introductory language instruction like this; if it does not teach you correctly from the start, then even free is too expensive.

### 5/5 — nice app

*2008-12-11, version 0*

*2008-11-17, version 0*

多くの日本人に馴染みのない声調を無視しては全く通じないタイ語。
バンコクですら英語はあまり通じませんから、そんな時このソフトは役に立つと思います。
タダなのが信じられません。（語彙はやや少なめです。）
タイ語の超初心者が練習するときに発音を聞き取る教材としても通用すると思います。

### 4/5 — Power la

*2009-08-27, version 0*

Power la

### 4/5 — Helpful

*2008-11-16, version 0*

Great program for some common phrases. The language guide is particularly amusing and helpful and was useful in giving me some basic language knowledge.

### 3/5 — No audio

*2013-12-20, version 2.5*

There is no audio on the words that are suppose to have audio. The audio would be useful.

### 3/5 — Good
