### 2/5 — Dilapidated app

*2025-12-22, version 8.2.1*

Doesn’t remember your login, no Face ID.
Alongside this you are dealing with exorbitant ticket prices and ticket inspectors who need evidence that your 8 year old child is a TfL travel card holder. No common sense used at all.
Boats are packed despite more users than ever (mainly down to popularity of Battersea Power Station).
The problem with this is that you have to activate a ticket BEFORE joining a queue to board… so if you give up on boarding a boat due to queues then you have flushed money down the toilet.
The actual experience on the Clipper is great… the rest of it is pants… and this app needs basic modernising.

### 2/5 — Circularity Bug

*2025-09-08*

App keeps asking me to download the app to see live schedule!

### 1/5 — Boats great, app less so

*2024-02-05, version 7.8.10*

So never tap map from within the app. You’ll get stuck and will not be able to return to the app. Not great for showing a ticket ……

### 1/5 — Dismal App

*2023-11-08, version 7.8.10*

Needs reinstalling daily as crashes all the time. Shame as service is good

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-10-22, version 7.8.10*

Tried this app as I wanted to use Tate to Tate boats. The amount of knowledge necessary to make sense of the piers doesn’t make it an easy app to use ( I’m not a Londoner) - then I tried to buy tickets. Absolutely hopeless. Despite deleting and reinstalling it won’t allow card details to be added. I’m removing my account as I can’t use it and don’t trust it.

### 1/5 — How can first boat of the day be 30 minutes late

*2023-08-12, version 7.8.10*

Would use this service so much more often but it’s so unreliable, no live departure information in app so cannot plan

### 1/5 — Utterly useless

*2022-09-02, version 7.8.0*

Won’t let me log in! Created an account on their website but when I enter my correct details, all it says is invalid username/password SDK-105. How the hell I meant to buy tickets with it until you sort this out? Now I’m stuck with single/return fares, costing me more per trip. Not happy.

### 1/5 — Useless App

*2022-08-22, version 7.8.0*

I’ve tried to log in - get an error message. Deleted and reinstalled the app - tried to buy a ticket - couldn’t get past the log in page - another error message. This is totally useless!

### 1/5 — What has happened to this app?!

*2022-08-20, version 7.8.0*

It used to be basic (live departures never worked) but at least it saved card details and was a dedicated app. Now all my saved information has disappeared and it just seems to be a link to a rubbish clunky website, that cannot save card details.

### 1/5 — I can’t log in

*2022-07-30, version 7.8.0*

Useless. I can’t even log in or reset my password. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it.
Zero stars.

### 2/5 — Rubbish

*2022-07-21, version 7.8.0*

Worst payment handling app ever. Does not retain credit card details, asking for security code on every use.
Timetables are just a link to a pdf on a website.
Amateur, hard to use

### 1/5 — App totally useless

*2022-07-19, version 7.8.0*

Basic behaviour is not working - eg create an account, sign up - which is pretty much just a dump button and nothing happens.

Timetable could be presented in an easier way, some information is a webframe.

Really bad app! Expensive tickets and not even the app is a good one.

### 1/5 — On trend with the service you get

*2022-07-18, version 7.8.0*

At least the app corresponds to the level of service you get at the ticket offices and on the piers. Shocking! For £8.70 single fare I think anyone would expect something better than this mess. The app constantly crashes and does not have an up to date schedule. There is no place to enter a discount code either which at least the website offers. All in all Uber should be ashamed of this. Stay away from this terrible app and the sub par expensive boats.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Requires account

*2026-04-03*

Lack of Guest login option. Forcing to open an account

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. If you wish to buy a ticket without creating an account you can do so on our website https://www.thamesclippers.com/ . Please keep in mind that season tickets and carnets are only available in the app.

### 1/5 — Cannot trust the capacity info

*2025-08-23*

The capacity info says ‘Quiet’ yet when the boat arrives there is not enough room for us to board. :-(

### 1/5 — Why Hide The Timetable

*2025-07-06*

Terrible redesign

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We listened to our users and created a journey planner to make it easier for our passengers to check the timetable on the go. But we understand that some people prefer to see the whole timetable, so we have brought it back and can now be accessed from the menu. We hope this helps.

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2025-02-18, version 7.8.24*

Absolutely overkill. Used the app but on every journey I had to use my concession card in conjunction so begs the question why use the app. Far better just to tap in with your Oyster Card

### 1/5 — Dreadful App

*2025-01-02, version 7.8.24*

Truly dreadful app that positively prevents travel on the Riverbus! No matter how many times you reset your password - at the App’s insistence - it NEVER updates. Epically bad.

### 1/5 — It works eventually but it’s a poor experience

*2024-07-08, version 7.8.10*

Hard to use, understand and pay.
I can only imagine that development is purposely stalled on this app (given the money flowing through the business) so that people give up and have to use the ticket sellers that charge a 20% premium. Disgraceful business practice.

### 1/5 — Can’t Use

*2024-06-26*

App won’t allow me to add credit card so it’s useless.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and sorry to hear about your experience! We’d love for you to check out our new app—it includes new features designed to improve your experience, such as journey planning and boat tracking. You can also buy tickets using Apple Pay. Please give it a try and let us know your thoughts!

### 1/5 — Live Service Information please!!!

*2024-04-17*

Not having any reliable live service information is a huge weakness. Boats are regularly late and there is no way of knowing how far away they are or when they will arrive. It makes planning travel effectively impossible. This is such a basic component of an effective transportation service, and Uber is a digital organisation! Please fix!

### 1/5 — This app is designed to deceive and scam you

*2024-03-27, version 7.8.10*

There is nowhere you can find information related to activation. When you are a first timer you might end up activating your ticket too early and it expires. Once ticket is activated you have 1.5 hours to use it. They purposely didn't mention it anywhere.

### 1/5 — Very buggy app

*2024-02-13, version 7.8.10*

The screen gets stuck so impossible to toggle between ticket wallet, timetable and pier updates. Can only be reset by switching phone on and off. Needs an upgrade.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — V8.0

*2025-06-11*

The latest update to the app (V8.0) is a very welcome update. The changes to the UI and UX has made it so much easier to use the app.

And bringing real time departure and capacity information to the your personal phone is very welcome.

**Developer response:** We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We're happy to hear you're finding our app useful.

### 5/5 — Uber upped their game

*2025-06-05*

A total game changer for the best of London travel. The ease to get tickets and see departure times is a vibe. Impressed.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-06-05*

Really love the app. It’s easy to use and makes planning my journey so simple. The Where’s My Clipper feature is my favourite, being able to see where the boat is on the map is such a game changer 🫶

### 5/5 — Good App

*2022-07-04*

I never had any issues with this app. So more, i do recommend this app to be used for tickets purchasing. Very simple 1-2-3 steps and you always have a tickets machine in your pocket. Great job to a creator 👍🏻

### 5/5 — Works perfectly

*2020-07-02*

Way more reliable than it used to be! It would be great to have a ‘live departures’ board for your favourite pier on the home screen, so you can easily see when the next boat is coming just by opening the app, but aside from that, it’s pretty good now.

### 5/5 — Effective

*2019-03-13, version 4.29.2*

Good solid ticketing app. Works well every time

### 5/5 — Simple happiness

*2016-11-25, version 3.2.5*

Easy to buy and activate my ticket, looks nice. Would be good if it had geolocation so it knew where my origin station was to offer it as first option.

### 4/5 — Doesn't accept amex

*2026-05-08*

If you try to enter an amex number, it doesn't complain, just pretend you're still missing a digit. Won't allow you to store a credit card until you buy your first trip, but tickets last for 90 days so it's probably not a deal breaker. Not much in terms of when to activate tickets (like, does staff need to see you do it - appears they don't). Also, doesn't keep the security code, that's silly

### 4/5 — Functional app which works fine (Jan 2024)

*2024-01-30*

Signup easy enough, purchasing tickets easy enough, ticket options and prices fairly flexible but worth exploring the day before to get the best value out of the options available.

Live departures works fine as long as there are any boats still on the schedule for that day, otherwise it’s just blank.

The only disadvantage for me is the lack of Apple wallet support for either payments or tickets. You can save payment cards in your booking profile but there’s no indication of what security measures protect your stored info so I didn’t.
