### 4/5 — Favourites list too short

*2026-07-28*

After choosing my ticket I tried to make it a Favourite. It was told my Faviurites list was already full. How on earth, at that stage , can I delete something to make room for this journey? I can’t see it in the menu or on the home page. Annoying

### 2/5 — Yes or maybe later model

*2026-07-10*

It’s really far too cluttered an app with lots of small icons everywhere, and journeys showing as part cancelled is a confusing message. However, it also won’t stop pinging up an awful ‘yes or maybe later’ dialog over all the stuff I want to see nagging me to turn on notifications. No, I don’t want them, ask me once and I go to setting if I change my mind.
Journey planning needs an update too because it’s basically focused on selling you a ticket not planning a journey for a ticket you already have or might buy, meaning you keep having to add tickets to baskets to see details.

### 3/5 — Existing selected rail card not applied

*2026-05-31*

Since the app was updated it is no longer applying my railcard to the ticket prices. It shows that the card is selected but does not apply it. I cannot remove the card selection. I can add and remove other railcards but not the one that was selected before the app update. Please fix!

### 3/5 — Add to apple wallet stopped working

*2026-03-12, version 5.0.13*

Great app until recently when add to wallet started opening google and won’t save!

### 2/5 — Needs work

*2026-02-11*

The app is about useable, could be much slicker. Here’s an annoying one: if I use up my 8 passes of a flexi ticket before the end date (which I think is the most likely case), and I’ve now bought a new flexi, the old ‘expired’ one hangs around at the top of the ‘active’ tickets list until the end date. This is the path to get to your actual active ticket so it’s just annoying to have this useless clutter in the way pushing my active ticket down off the bottom of the screen. I’ve got 11 days now of having to scroll past an old ticket every time I need to get through a barrier. Should be an easy fix to just move it to the expired list, please? It even says ‘expired’ on it.

### 4/5 — Good app - just a bit more info please

*2025-12-02, version 5.0.9*

Would benefit from additional info on planned engineering works to save going to national rail site

### 2/5 — Just make the screen brighter when showing QR code tickets

*2025-11-06, version 5.0.6*

Every traveller has to go into Control Centre themselves to manually set their screen brightness to maximum for the QR code to be scanned. It's easy for this to be automated. I would happily give this app a five star review if this was implemented:

To add code to your app to put the iPhone on full brightness when displaying a QR code, you can use the following Swift code snippet. This code will set the screen brightness to the maximum value when the QR code is displayed and revert it back to the original brightness when the QR code is no longer visible.

import UIKit

class ViewController: UIViewController {

    var originalBrightness: CGFloat = 0.0

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
        originalBrightness = UIScreen.main.brightness
    }

    func showQRCode() {
        // Set the screen brightness to full
        UIScreen.main.brightness = 1.0

        // Display the QR code
        // Your code to display the QR code goes here
    }

    func hideQRCode() {
        // Revert the screen brightness to the original value
        UIScreen.main.brightness = originalBrightness

        // Hide the QR code
        // Your code to hide the QR code goes here
    }

    // Example usage
    @IBAction func showQRCodeButtonTapped(_ sender: UIButton) {
        showQRCode()
    }

    @IBAction func hideQRCodeButtonTapped(_ sender: UIButton) {
        hideQRCode()
    }
}

### 3/5 — Less good

*2025-11-03, version 5.0.6*

The update has made things worse in terms of usability.

### 3/5 — Website

*2025-10-04, version 5.0.6*

Be very careful when booking a ticket on this site, as it’s not user friendly and it’s easy to book the wrong ticket. Everything else is fine though

### 2/5 — Poor UX

*2025-10-02, version 5.0.6*

Looks like something developed 10 years ago and could do with an overhaul…

### 2/5 — Doesn’t show the cheapest ticket options

*2025-08-12, version 5.0.3*

Inexplicably doesn’t show when a super off peak ticket is available, which makes it almost useless.

### 4/5 — Better with the operator

*2025-07-22, version 3.0.19*

Pleased with TFL, Trainline was impersonal and impossible to get support from.

### 3/5 — Suggestion

*2025-05-15, version 3.0.17*

I’d like to be able to add my sTicket to Apple Wallet. Having to find the app then open the ticket every time I get to a barrier is cumbersome

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Will not activate key ticket - could get you unfairly fined

*2026-02-04*

Crucial flaw that means you could get fined unfairly. It just goes straight past the load and view page on the key ticket. An app is the only way you can activate a ticket as the station green access light is not accurate. Edit: Of course, I had already contacted Thameslink before writing this (with difficulty because video is needed to show the error and that wasn’t allowed). They did nothing. A few weeks later, it did eventually fix itself but no confirmation bug has been addressed.

**Developer response:** Sorry you’ve had trouble activating your ticket this shouldn’t happen. We’d like to investigate and fix this quickly.

### 1/5 — Omnishambles

*2025-10-13*

Bought a weekly season ticket online. Despite every effort to get it to load onto my key smart card using this app it simply does not work. Blackfriars ticket office tried as well and told me they see hundreds of these issues with Thameslink tickets bought online. Described it as a complete lottery. No warning offered on the website or app. Frankly a fraudulent sale in my opinion. Avoid! Maybe buy a bike…

### 1/5 — Let me see trains that have already departed!!!!!

*2025-09-29*

Why, why, why won’t you let me check on trains that have already left the station, or show trains due that are delayed? Eg a train that should have been at Farringdon at 14:46 but due to delays actually arrives at 15:01? If I click on earlier trains nothing comes up which is so frustrating if you’re trying to track a particular train OR trying to advise when you might arrive at a station.

### 1/5 — Let’s you buy tickets but doesn’t give them to you

*2025-08-24, version 5.0.3*

Good luck getting your tickets and enjoy spending time with customer service to get your refund.

### 1/5 — Whelmed

*2025-08-12, version 5.0.3*

Can you please remove the five minute ticket restriction before travelling.
They’re enough cancellations on this network can you consider the customer before your dated systems

### 1/5 — So unreliable

*2025-06-21, version 3.0.19*

I’ve had so many problem with Thameslink. They are very often cancelling trains even last minute and putting customers and their jobs in danger. I don’t recommend this company at all.

### 1/5 — Terrible for foreigners

*2025-06-16, version 3.0.19*

Took me 3 bloody tries over 2 days to buy a ticket!

### 1/5 — Display

*2025-05-04, version 3.0.17*

Not overly clear display, poor colour scheme, unpleasant to look at. Clattered with information that is rarely needed.
Station accessibility and CO2 footprint could be under a click for more info. This display makes it too busy.

*2025-11-09*

Credit where it’s due, this is a fantastically made app. Whilst I don’t use it for a wide range of purposes, I’m a regular commuter who needs to buy the same ticket over and over again. It’s easy and reliable on this app.
