## What is Thaqafa?

Thaqafa surfaces a verified historical event from Islamic history every day, in both Hijri and Gregorian calendars. Every entry is hand-vetted against the classical Sunni sources (al-Ṭabarī, Ibn Kathīr, the Six Books) and carries its citations openly so you can verify what you read.

A daily ritual, not a feed. The app shows today's event — no infinite scroll, no algorithmic noise, no ads. Read it once a day, set a quiet reminder for whatever hour suits you, and let the calendar bring you back tomorrow.

    pinch with two fingers anywhere in the app to zoom.
  • Pick your reading size during the welcome flow, with a live
    preview of the actual reading text.
  • Body text is larger by default for more comfortable
    long-form reading.
  • Slide from the screen edge to go back — works in all three
    scripts, including right-to-left in Arabic.
  • Today is now a permanent tab in the bottom navigation —
    one tap to today's reading from anywhere.

  Notifications

  • Daily reminders now respect your device's local timezone.
    Notifications that previously arrived hours late now land
    exactly when you set them.
  • Just one notification per day — the duplicate "open the
    app" reminder has been removed.
  • Daily notifications are off by default. A small choice,
    on your terms.
  • New "Send a test notification" button in Settings — verify
    in five seconds that alerts come through.
  • Clearer warning when iOS itself has notifications blocked,
    with a one-tap shortcut to system settings.
