You can’t even participate in some events without purchasing specific things for the event. The graphics are painfully outdated, the animations are rough, and the whole experience feels unfinished. I wanted to like it, but the visuals alone made me uninstall. And don’t get me wrong very addictive game first day I played it I was on for 9 and a half hours. But having that little save file might help people keep the game but you only get one each anthill that falls so basically a game over life like here’s one more chance to keep this going. I am docking one star because the game forces you to join a guild to progress into the story line, and I like doing stuff on my own. The strategy, the ants, the events - when it works, it’s chef’s kiss 🐜👑 Now for the “when it works” part. The Crashes: The game has a nasty memory leak. If you’re on a phone with 2GB RAM, expect crashes every 15-20min during big events or when your mail blows up. Support’s answer? “Your phone isn’t good enough.” Except I still hit top ranks in some events on that “not good enough” phone. So maybe fix the mail system instead of blaming players? The Billing: This is where it gets ugly. I’ve been double-charged after game glitches with zero notification. I’ve been billed for “subscriptions” that didn’t even exist in the store at the time - then magically appeared later. I was gaslit by support telling me a $5 charge was for a $29.99 item. I now ONLY buy currency through the website because I don’t trust in-game purchases, and even that has failed me. Customer Service “Fairy”: If you ever have a problem and need support, good luck! You’ll get canned responses, “clear cache,” on repeat. I’ve reported bugs with screenshots and was told it’s my device. I’ve disputed billing and was told “working as intended.” They protect the game, not the player. I WANT to spend money here. I WANT to recommend this to friends. But I can’t, in good conscience, until StarUnion fixes their support and billing practices. To new players: The game itself is incredible. Just know what you’re signing up for. Screenshot everything. Don’t link your main card. And if you crash a lot, it’s not you. To StarUnion: Your players are out here ranking in the top on “unsupported” devices while you’re picking their pockets. Do better. We love the anthill. Stop setting it on fire. Still playing though. Every single update makes it worse. Red dots that lead to and nowhere constant disconnecting. You can play an entire season and not once hatch an ant that’s newer than season 2 or 3. This game attracts the worst sort of people. They have an event called “New Beginning”, but there is no proper restriction to keep new zones balanced. I am in a new zone and the ant king didn’t know how the migration works, so he let a bunch of people from earlier zones come in and it created a huge gap in power. There is no realistic way for newer player to catch up. A game should reward strategy and progression, not create impossible situations where newer zones are dominated so early in the game. You know what i think? They do this so next migration, you spend alot of money to transfer OR YOU SPEND ALOT OF MONEY TO CATCH UP with the power gap but there is no way I am spending $1000 to catch up as the gap is 5 million vs a 30 million anthill power. The tutorial will FORCE you to join an alliance that is almost full and constantly online so the bad people can get to you! This happened to me and less then a minute after I was forced to join I got a message from the leader of the alliance who FIRST thing asked for my age and where I live? Absolutely not! After telling him I won’t be chatting on the alliance and after I left he still had access to me, and ended up asking once again for that same information! I don’t know what he was going to do with it but I ended up deleting the game and after reading more reviews for it I learned that that’s actually a HUGE problem, fairy/the ants player support even says they found many alliance’s made FOR farming players information and stealing, money. property etc and instead of doing anything about it just gives you a warning about them, while it may seem like: “if you do it it’s your fault” kinda thing because they warn you they are avoiding responsiblty and even though they know who’s doing it they won’t ban, kick, or give ANY penalty at all, worst of all people pray on kids and sometimes target women and harass them till they leave the game, and if you don’t give them the info they want they raid your anthills as punishment. The way the game is structured and styled and with relations with other player a really help make ant kingdoms a strategic game. However I have started to realize that hatching solider ants are a requirement in order to finish some events in the game. The problem is that once you hatch the solider ants you can’t get rid of them. This creates the problem of players hatching ants over and over until you start to realize that their meat output and plant output start to drop. There should be a function to decompose the solider ants to increase their meat and plant output. Otherwise if there is no function players would be force to kill there ants by fighting bosses manually and always having an annoying heal icon on your screen.
