It's been OK but needed a few tweaks. They have recently changed the format/provider and it was just problematic until a week ago when it wouldn't load up. Have written to them but no acknowledgement. Jury is out but I don't hold out much hope as the news content itself seems to be on the decline. ### 1/5 — Unable to log in after eventual upgrade *2017-10-05* Despite the length of time it has taken for the developers to upgrade the app I now find that I can’t access my account. The halp page says that as an iTunes user I should click the restore subscription tab. Guess what, there isn’t one. So despite them still taking my money they seem intent on denying me access. Constantly returns to the subscriber management page and then nothing works. Need a ruddy 'ology to work out why I have been billed again 9 days after I signed up for one month. Maybe it back dates my months subscription when I join to back to when I loaded the app for a trial? You guess is as good as mine. As per form with the Argus tho, there is often more news in the Friday-Ad. ### 1/5 — Subscription? *2012-04-21* Not at all clear if you need to unsubscribe from auto-subscription after 30 day trial. ### 1/5 — Very difficult to cancel subscription *2012-04-05* Unfortunately this is just an electronic version of the paper with little interactivity with the app. I have tried to cancel the rolling subscription to the paper and after 45 mins have had to email the company to find out how. Still waiting for reply. I have now noticed that to cancel you can only do this on the last day of the valid day of the subscription as this us the only window of opportunity making it difficult to cancel. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-08-05* I’ve paid the subscription. Deleted and re installed the app but all I get is a picture of deck chairs on the beach. Nothing else. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback - It sounds as though the app has not installed correctly. Can you please try uninstalling and reinstalling? If you are still experiencing problems after trying this, please contact us directly at nq-digital.subs@newsquest.co.uk and we will help resolve this. ### 1/5 — Is there anyone out there? *2022-07-27* I can’t believe that Newsquest is happy to allow this app to limp along. It really is a disgrace and like a previous reviewer has let you know buying into a years subscription is money down the drain. The bottom line is DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE SUBSCRIPTION. It would also be good to know if anyone has noted this message and intends to fix it? **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Think it’s best you you return my money. ### 1/5 — Diabolical *2022-02-23* Subscribed through the App Store but apparently still need to pay for a subscription to access the content. I pay for the newspaper through Apple but can’t go any further. I asked The Argus but they couldn’t help as I have an Apple subscription. ### 1/5 — Does not work *2022-01-27* After paying the charge for a year I found that the app does not work. Whenever I click a link on the home page for more information about a news item I just get the subscription page which shows I have paid but I can’t go any further. The developers have suggested I try a number of things (clearing caches, reinstalling, etc) but nothing sorts it out. Now they have given up trying to help. ### 1/5 — Poor after sales service. *2018-11-07* Had the app for two years now as it’s a lot cheaper than having the actual paper. I’ve been trying to find out my password for more than a year now without success. It would be useful if you forgot your password to click a button and they would give you the chance to reset it like every other site does. Also we often get a few pages missing when we download the paper. It’s a very amateurish effort at providing a basic daily paper. I’ve now cancelled my annual subscription and will rejoins again using fresh details. Perhaps then I can sign in my wife on her iPad so she can read it. We have the Daily Mail Plus online which works perfectly. Why can’t the Argus use the same system. ### 1/5 — Ian *2018-07-24, version 3.0* What happened to the original app? This is a subscription app and I only want to know what’s happening with the Albion. Bring back the original App which was free to download. ### 1/5 — Useless *2018-06-13* Got slower and slower to open and now cannot open at all. Had to reinstall once a few months ago. Paper clear to read, pricing reasonable when trial runs out. Only thing I found disappointing was that at 7.30am, today's version was not available. As its Saturday and only the first day (although there were several older days available) I will give them the benefit of the doubt and monitor for a few days. I would expect the paper to be available by 6am on a weekday to enable me to read before work. Update: Monday and Tuesday - not available before 7. Friday - edition available at 6am. ### 2/5 — Poor *2016-01-14* Forever crashing, then you need to delete And reload. About once a week it gives the message that the sub has expired. You have to delete the app and reinstall, it then works ok...
