Reminiscent of classic chose your own adventures. ### 1/5 — "Absolutely terrible" is an understatement *2014-12-12, version 1.0.1* There's no story or characters, just a random, disconnected series of events strung together by bland and amateurish writing. I get the impression that it's trying for dadaist humour. However, even dadaist narratives need a bit of context or depth to work, and this has none. No effort has gone into weaving a story, or even just creating an interesting, detailed world the player will feel motivated to explore. Moreover, it's not a text adventure when the only choices you are ever given are "yes" and "no," and even then the game railroads you into making the "right" decisions. The game constantly badgers you into changing your answer when you choose "wrong." Or rewards you with a sudden and inexplicable death. This game bears the questionable honour of being the first freemium text adventure (or at least the first I've had the misfortune to play). When you die, you are forced to wait five minutes to come back to life, or else pay five dollars for unlimited lives. That ties this game with the epic, intricately-plotted Tin Star as the most expensive title in the Choice of Games/Hosted Games library. Worse yet, the game is pretty much only winnable through brute trial and error, so it almost seems designed to frustrate you into buying the IAP. It's the Candy Crush Saga of interactive fiction. I'm sad that Choice of Games/Hosted Games have gone the freemium route. ### 1/5 — CRAPFEST *2014-12-06* Utter waste of money and time. COGS booooo hiss ### 1/5 — Seriously? That's it? *2014-12-06* I've played nearly EVERY one of Choice of Games LLCs products, but this is a new low. Granted, I believe this is a hosted game, but I've played nearly all of those too. Some others ate the dust as well, but many were pure gold. This...this is embarrassing. The stats just include a few items of interest, and that's it. The story wasn't even half backed. The characters are arbitrary and lifeless. The plot itself was oversimplified. I was able to finish several games in just an hour. I should be occupied for much longer with just ONE campaign, unless I'm speeding through. It just seams like no effort was put in this at all. I'm glad that I was able to get it for free before paying, but that doesn't change the fact that this game is not worth the trouble. And the paid version is 5 bucks?! I bought Steve Jackson's Sorcery! for only a dollar more and I got WAY more for it. Overall, wait for CoGs next installment, as this ones dead on arrival. ### 2/5 — Not good *2014-12-05* This is one of the worst stories on hosted games.
