### 4/5 — Augusta Chronicle Review

*2023-05-09*

I enjoy reading the articles of this newspaper; however, it would be beneficial for arrival authors to have the minutes to review the grammar and punctuation before the news goes to print. I love the pictures that quickly give the main idea of the article meaning when their viewing audience has many things to do that morning.

### 4/5 — My thoughts

*2023-02-06, version 3.6.13*

The comics are the best thing. The Post & Courier is great I
Get more SOUTH CAROLINA news up to date than I ever had.
Sorry that is just how it is.
                                                   Richard

### 4/5 — Love reading a local newspaper

*2023-01-28, version 3.6.13*

I read the Augusta Chronicle every morning. I love that it is set up like a traditional newspaper and I see so much local news as well as around the world. I do wish they would get the typos under control though. Those show a lack of caring.

### 5/5 — Good app for digital Augusta Chronicle

*2022-01-22, version 3.5.08*

The app is very versatile.
Suggest: instructions on how to fully use the app be published every so often e.g. every 3 months.

### 5/5 — I love my the Augusta Chronicle

*2021-08-25, version 3.2.64*

I enjoy the Augusta Chronicle and keeping up with the latest events.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-07-26, version 3.2.64*

Enjoy using the app.

### 5/5 — Easier access

*2021-06-24, version 3.2.64*

So glad the bugs have been worked out! So much easier to access

### 3/5 — Some improvement

*2021-05-06, version 3.2.64*

Software much better than early years where lock-ups and crashing were common. However, with the latest sale the paper has lost much of its local flavor and reporting. Is now just a low-cost USA Today reprint.

### 5/5 — App improved

*2021-04-20, version 3.2.64*

It is so easy to use the new, improved Augusta Chronicle app. 100% improvement

### 2/5 — Not enough local news, events

*2021-04-03, version 3.2.64*

New format needs more local news, less repetition from USA Today articles, which often appear twice in same issue. Tighter editing may help.Today's Events needs to return to second page.

### 4/5 — Was Unfortunately Bad - Now Getting Better!

*2021-04-02, version 3.2.64*

UPDATE: New version of this app is MUCH better than the former. Requires a single login which my mobile device holds for the next sessions (I.e., you don’t have to log in with credentials every day).
So far it seems stable and designed by a different source. Glad to see this update!

This app I regret is substantially inferior to other newspaper apps. For the past several weeks, it requires that the user log on EVERY TIME one uses the app. Then following successful log on, the app freezes. User must then quit the app and relaunch it; THEN it permits reading the newspaper.
I have reported this problem innumerable times to the Chronicle but with no results.
The same problem appeared with the release of an updated app in April 2019 and the problem at that time was addressed.

But the problem now recurs with no fix from the Augusta Chronicle.

### 4/5 — New App

*2021-03-25, version 3.2.64*

The new Augusta Chronicle app is a big improvement over the previous one. The old app was terrible. I could never get anyone at the Chronicle to provide any help. I hope that some help will be provided for the new app if needed.

### 5/5 — Easy way to read the paper

*2021-03-15, version 3.2.64*

I like the print version, but this app is an excellent way to read the paper on my iPad. I’ve never had trouble accessing any edition I want, and enjoy being able to zoom in and/or flip between pages. The new update is even clearer!

### 2/5 — Love reading my paper on my iPad. Hate the app

*2020-11-16, version 3.0.2*

I have to log in twice everyday to read the Chronicle. First time, it lets me in but the pages are frozen. Second time allows it to work. Why can’t I stay logged in? Crashes occasionally.
It didn’t always behave this way.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible app!

*2022-09-04, version 3.6.13*

Rarely works correctly, horrible to navigate, and no help available.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2021-04-15, version 3.2.64*

Pressing on any thumbnail of the newspaper gives you an error message. Help line is foreign and of no help. The “I’m sorry” message also comes up on other choices. The other app doesn’t offer “print edition” or sub categories for news. The owners need to get their act together and offer one app that serves all needs and WORKS!

### 1/5 — Pretty good app

*2021-03-27, version 3.2.64*

Allows me to read the local newspaper by page or story form. Allows me to have access to crossword and comics as well. Overall good

### 1/5 — Lost

*2020-10-31, version 3.0.2*

I have been using the app for several years. Usually has an issue here or there, but generally reliable. Now for two days I have been unsuccessful opening the app AT ALL! It will pop up a message that says update available, (hint:there isn't one), click reload app and NOTHING HAPPENS! What the hell is going on???? The Chronicle has been declining for a few years, but their app is completely done.

### 1/5 — Don’t know what happened to this app!

*2020-10-20, version 3.0.2*

Awful. You click on it, it MIGHT take you to the front page of the current edition, but then it freezes! Nothing happens! If you call the paper for help, they have no idea what you’re talking about. Even if you delete it and re-download it, you get the same problem. Not worth my time anymore.

### 1/5 — It was once good....

*2020-06-27, version 3.0.2*

...but now is bad. Why do I have to log on and wipe out the app each time? Very buggy and not well vetted.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-03-24, version 3.0.2*

The app is terrible and disappointing. Constantly you have to delete the app, reinstall the app because it freezes conscientiously without reason. Many complaints have been made, but no corrections. Please fix this, or give people back their money. This a problem with many subscribers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, please share with us. Extremely important to be updated with the latest news especially with our current crisis. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2016-11-16, version 3.0.1*

This app makes reading the paper just about impossible. The issues are too numerous to list but here are four.
The insulting, and flashing, ads at the top of the screen that you cannot turn off even though you have a paid subscription.
You never know what will happen when you touch the screen. Will the app show the previous page, the next page, zoom in, zoom out, or show an ad?
The translucent images that obscure the newspaper text.
The fuzzy font that only gets worse when you zoom in.

It seems this company truly hates their customers and this product is not worth even one star.

### 1/5 — Very Poor Upgrade!

*2016-10-22, version 3.0.1*

The newest version of this app is absolutely the worst since I started using the original Augusta Chronicle app on my iPad.
* Navigation is very clunky and not intuitive.
* We're paying for this app, yet have to close additional advertisements just to see the overview of each page.
* We've also lost the ability to see the additional and full-size pictures that accompany each article.
* This is just the tip of the iceberg for the list of negatives.
The latest version is definitely a step backward and may cause me to drop my subscription at renewal time. Fix it!!!

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2014-01-30, version 2.12*

I downloaded the iPad version, attempted to download the newspaper. All it does is spin. Never asks for my Press+ information - I think that's part of the problem. I can't find anywhere to ask for help with this app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great so far

*2023-07-23*

So far everything is working well. And the content it’s pretty good.

### 5/5 — Good app, lack of local news

*2023-03-29*

The app works very well—just like it should for this kind of content. I like being able to read the actual page images (and being able to zoom in with a single tap), which is well-suited to a smaller newspaper like this one than for a digital version of a larger appear like the NY Times or Washington Post. But I must say that the proportion of local news is amazingly small. It’s shocking and disappointing that the opening of a fast-food chain in a suburb can be a front-page, above the fold story in a city the size of Augusta. The quality of the local coverage should match that of the app.

### 5/5 — Augusta Chronicle online

*2023-03-01, version 3.6.13*

I really enjoy the online edition. Not quite like holding it in my hand but very handy. I don’t keep anyone awake while reading articles in bed on my phone.
The puzzles are not fun but the comics are. I prefer the actual paper but there times when digital is more convenient. Thank you for both.

### 5/5 — App

*2023-01-29, version 3.6.13*

Very user friendly

### 5/5 — Augusta chronicle

*2022-12-24, version 3.6.13*

App works very well

### 5/5 — Augusta Chronicle Digital

*2022-10-26, version 3.6.13*

I’m always too busy to get the paper let alone to sit down and read it but with the digital version I can read on the go just sorry I didn’t subscribe sooner

### 5/5 — App reply

*2022-07-13, version 3.6.13*

Functions very well. Glad I subscribed.

### 5/5 — Save money

*2022-07-09, version 3.6.13*

Need to discontinue print edition

### 5/5 — Solid app

*2022-05-18, version 3.6.05*

Works great and is consistently showing no signs of issues. Has so far been a reliable application. Easy to use.

### 5/5 — Usually works well

*2022-02-28, version 3.5.08*

Enjoy being able to read local paper wherever I am and on all my devices. For most part app works well. Some aspects aren’t intuitive but that could be because I’m not a “digital native”.
