### 2/5 — App Does Not Always Refresh

*2026-02-04, version 10.0.51*

The app frequently has the previous day's newspaper. It does not refresh. When tech support is called I'm only told to remove and reinstall the app, which is inconvenient, time consuming, and should not need to happen on a regular basis.

### 2/5 — Requires constant updates

*2025-08-21, version 10.0.44*

App works fine to read an article but it constantly requires you to update it. So annoying. That's why I prefer the Banner

### 3/5 — The 10.0.39 release is a step backwards

*2025-07-17, version 10.0.39*

Maybe it was done to save server space, but the photos in the eNewpaper are now low-res when you “zoom in” while in full page mode, the comics go low-res when viewed in “single comic strip” mode, and the ability to view the comic archive is gone.

### 1/5 — Terrible app just got worse

*2025-07-02, version 10.0.39*

Updated version is worse than the previous one. Can’t even enlarge to full screen without cutting off text .
App developer must still be in elementary school

### 1/5 — Sports news and stats

*2025-04-10, version 10.0.36*

Where are all the news and stats on baseball, football and every other sport!! For years, there has never been any stats in the Sunpaper either online or hardcopy!! I’m ready to close my account and go with another newspaper!

### 3/5 — More Improvements Needed 4/2/25

*2025-04-02, version 10.0.36*

The recent update is an improvement but why can’t you enlarge the print version page and advance to the next page without first reducing the size of the page you are reading?

### 4/5 — Notifications

*2025-02-13, version 10.0.32*

I’ve used this app for several years with my virtual subscription. I’m used to the way it functions and find it generally ok. However, I wish there was a setting to limit the notifications. They are either off or very frequent. I leave them on because if there is truly a “breaking news” item, I want to know. Unfortunately, most notifications are just push notices for articles that are available and in many cases ones that I have already read. Please give the option for “breaking news” notifications only. I get multiple notifications each hour most days. I really only want critical news on my notifications.

### 1/5 — Women’s sports

*2025-02-06, version 10.0.32*

I think the recent executive order signed by Trump to protect women’s sports should be front page news but I had to dig to find it in this paper. Disappointing.

### 2/5 — Worst newspaper app

*2024-12-05*

This app makes reading the paper a real challenge. When you read an article, and want to go back to the headlines, it takes you to a different place than where you started. The pictures section is huge and has many of the same items day after day. You need to scroll past all of these to get to other sections. When viewing an article with pictures, the pictures take a very long time to load.

Compared with any other newspaper app, it doesn’t compare well.

### 1/5 — Dying newspaper

*2024-11-13, version 10.0.29*

David Smith is killing the Sun.

### 1/5 — Difficult to log in

*2024-11-04, version 10.0.29*

I have a paid subscription and have to log in multiple times to read articles

### 1/5 — Redundancy

*2024-10-31, version 10.0.29*

Hard to give it even one star. Daily redundancy of articles with very little to offer thanks to its primitive design.

### 2/5 — Pop up death.

*2024-08-06, version 10.0.14*

Impossible to read anything without continuous pop up advertising videos now. Even as a subscriber to the paper version. Even if you let the as play you just get it over and over. The Sun has set. Time to finally give up on a once great local paper.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Problem

*2026-06-30, version 10.0.58*

Difficult to put in password n have it accepted

### 1/5 — One-sided Republican Reporting

*2026-06-19, version 10.0.58*

A written version of FoxNews

### 1/5 — New update glitchy

*2026-05-16, version 10.0.56*

Forced to update and the new version is super glitchy. Orioles and Ravens coverage is great. But you have to take it with undisguised right wing political bias.

### 1/5 — Text doesn’t load in stories half the time

*2026-03-22, version 10.0.53*

The app doesn’t load articles correctly. Only the pictures are visible, not the story/text. I am canceling as a result.

### 1/5 — Ok

*2026-01-31, version 10.0.51*

When an article posts on Facebook- it asks me to log in instead of going straight to app. Problems signing in on the Facebook side. Very annoying

### 1/5 — Full of Ads and Broken Features

*2025-11-10, version 10.0.47*

While I enjoy most of the Sun’s content, their app is pretty bad. It’s full of garbage advertising that takes up too much screen space on mobile. Several features such as their live blogs as me to login again even though I am logged into the app already. Too much clutter and broken content to enjoy reading the Sun this way. The Baltimore Banner app Banner app is a far better experience.

### 1/5 — No access to digital paper

*2025-08-28, version 10.0.45*

I have not been able to access the Baltimore Sun paper for three days! Not happy with the Baltimore sun. I called I was disconnected.

### 1/5 — Missing functions

*2025-08-03, version 10.0.40*

Edited August 1: I use Chrome in Windows 11. I recently paid for an annual subscription. Sometime after July 18 the Puzzle button was restored, but every time I would click on it, a pop up asking me to pay to subscribe would appear. Logging in again would not stop this. Finally today I decided to try clearing the cache. I can now print puzzles, although not the ones I missed while on vacation when a new setup was instituted.

I still cannot clip and save ads or portions of articles. This is a feature that I used in the past and hope to see restored in the near future.

Edited July 18: The desktop app is still now missing the ability to print crosswords and other puzzles for ALL editions, not just those before June 30, as well as the ability to mark and clip a section of a page to print or download. Please restore these important features immediately. I sat down upon returning from vacation ready to read back issues and print out the puzzles. For a few days I could do so beginning June 30, but now the print button is entirely gone. We used to be able to mark and print portions of pages such as ads or portions of articles, but this capability is gone. Please fix this.

**Developer response:** Thank you for reaching out. Printing of crosswords, puzzles and other games is available on our eNewspaper again. If you do not see the feature, please be sure you are logged in.

Please restore these important features immediately. I sat down upon returning from vacation ready to read back issues and print out the puzzles. I could only do so beginning June 30 so I lost more than a week’s worth of puzzles. I still can’t print out ads. Yes, an entire page can be printed, but that makes things too small. Please fix this.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best Source for Maryland News

*2026-05-26, version 10.0.56*

The Sun keeps me up to date on local politics and sports, giving me insights into parts of Maryland I wouldn’t have otherwise. Its opinion section shares a diverse range of views and introduces readers to important viewpoints and topics. The Sun is one of two papers I read every day.

### 5/5 — Solid app

*2026-02-28, version 10.0.52*

Everything works just fine but the subscription is a little expensive

### 5/5 — Hard to use

*2025-10-09, version 10.0.45*

After reading a story and closing the story, the app returns to an entirely different spot so you have to scroll and hunt to get back to where you were. Very frustrating.

### 5/5 — A new reader

*2025-06-27, version 10.0.37*

I heard that the new ownership was going to provide more balanced coverage of the news so I gave The Sun a try. It turns out to be better coverage and more balanced than I ever expected. Bravo!!

### 5/5 — .

*2025-06-24, version 10.0.37*

.

### 5/5 — Old pimlico boy

*2025-04-11, version 10.0.36*

Sun still providing light for all. Great local and state coverage.

### 5/5 — Account holder

*2024-07-23, version 10.0.14*

His persistence of ads and trying to get rid of them he’s very disconcerting when looking at my son app I’m very close to getting rid of it. It’s too frustrating and I don’t know if I ever signed up for that. I would find out how to get rid of the constant ad when I activate my sun paper app

### 5/5 — Sunday paper

*2024-07-21, version 10.0.14*

I bought the Sunday July 21 paper and it was exactly the same as Saturday July 20th paper!! What a rip off. This is why you are losing subscribers.

### 5/5 — The latest redesign of the app is a keeper

*2024-06-08*

Even though the app limits us to portrait mode on a iPad, scrolling has been greatly improved and is customizable. The ability to scroll through thumbnails of pages on the bottom menu works well. I would like to suggest being able to set the width of the column when zooming in on a single article, and expandable views of single comics, when using the iPad.

### 5/5 — New Subscriber

*2024-05-31, version 10.0.13*

I am really enjoying my new subscription to the Banner. I signed up for 6 months for $1 great deal right? I get to a certain point then I am cut off. Said I had reached my limit. Geez!!
