### 4/5 — Eagle App

*2025-12-21, version 3.18.27*

Good to have the app and all the latest news at your fingertips. The app works and it’s fairly easy to navigate. Thanks BE

### 4/5 — Frequent Updates of Local News

*2025-08-11, version 3.18.23*

I really enjoy getting regular updates of news through my Berkshire Eagle app. I easily use my subscription to the paper much more frequently…

### 4/5 — Keeping local news alive

*2025-05-24, version 3.18.05*

The importance of our local and independent news outlet cannot be overstated. The recent stories on the Pittsfield Mayor’s proposition to ban homeless from sleeping on public properties and poor funding for meals at rehab/long-term care facilities. Not 5 stars for poor coverage of the plague of gun violence facing people, especially youth, and the failure of the Mayor, the DA and Sherrif to adequately fund PREVENTATIVE programs.

### 5/5 — Convenient

*2025-03-02, version 3.12.04*

Local news reported

### 4/5 — Terrible

*2025-02-24, version 3.12.04*

This is the worst app I’ve ever used! The worst part is that I pay for it monthly! It constantly crashes! I can’t even view the obituaries, I have to leave the app I pay for and look at them through safari. Smh...very frustrating, you’d think they would work on it.

### 5/5 — The Berkshire Eagle

*2025-02-19, version 3.12.04*

Great clarity when reading fine print .No problem with WiFi while reading Europe.

### 5/5 — Enjoying local news

*2024-12-16, version 3.12.04*

I have been enjoying reading the local news paper every morning. Since having the app I am able to have new articles or local news updates instantly. Plus the app gives me up to date stories daily. Great app.

### 5/5 — The Berkshire Eagle is fantastic!

*2024-12-03, version 3.12.04*

This app is user friendly. It allows you to access not only the daily digital paper but past issues as well. The pages fit to screen and you can easily toggle between pages.

### 5/5 — Great local news

*2024-10-26, version 3.12.04*

I absolutely love all the local sports coverage, great pictures. Plus all the great articles keeping us involved on what’s going on around us locally and nationally.

### 5/5 — App

### 5/5 — Great coverage of best stories

*2024-10-24, version 3.12.04*

Great writing and a smart curated approach to reporting on the most important and most interesting stories.

### 3/5 — Have to wrestle with this app.

*2024-10-01, version 3.12.04*

Not terribly user-friendly. When you search in a category and read an article and go back you have to re-search to the category again to continue to another article. Pop-up windows make the obituaries insanely difficult to scroll through. Very frustrating. Simply put, it is poorly structured. I expect better from a news publication.

### 5/5 — Berkshire Eagle App

*2024-08-21, version 3.12.04*

Much improved. Will give it 5 stars next year if this continues.

### 5/5 — Great app for reading

This is a great news app. Easy and functional.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2024-07-23, version 3.12.04*

This is a terrific newspaper!

### 4/5 — Good articles, difficult to store.

*2024-06-23, version 3.12.04*

Like the articles, but find it somewhat complicated to save a link to the article for future reference.

### 5/5 — Thank you for the app

*2024-06-06, version 3.12.04*

REALLY great to be able to read the Eagle every day from far away. Lee F.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad user interface

*2024-07-09, version 3.12.04*

The navigation on the app is terrible. You go from 1) home to 2) the list of obituaries to 3) an individual obituary then you hit back and you are return to the home screen starting over again. In between navigating clicks you also need to close several pop up ads.

Also, why aren’t there dates on the articles?

### 1/5 — Good paper, bad app

*2023-02-02, version 3.6.23*

The newspaper is fine. The app is brutal. Falls way short compared to other newspaper apps.

Three big problems: First, on the home page, every headline is cut off, so they read like, “Pittsfield Mayor Announces…” or “Tanglewood Summer Features Robert…” None of my other newspaper apps do this. It’s ridiculous to not be able to scan headlines.

Second, it takes forever to load individual articles after clicking on the partial headlines. Again, just comparing this app’s performance to other newspaper apps.

Third, the search function performs poorly. If I search, for example, local high school baseball scores, I’ll often get results featuring scores from years ago before scores from this week show up. Why?

Good paper. Deserves a much better app.

### 1/5 — A Perfect Example of How NOT to Design an App

*2019-05-27*

The app crashes, obscures articles and has a terrible layout. To top it off, users aren't able to subscribe to the service within the app. When a user exceeds the three-article limit, a pop-up appears with a single option: Logout. That "feature" alone would seem to run counter to cultivating a subscriber base. In its current form, the Eagle is simply inaccessible via a smart phone or tablet. Please, Berkshire Eagle, you've got great content. Roll out an app that will do your editorial staff proud.

### 1/5 — Can't log in, very frustrating!

*2017-11-30, version 2.7.31*

I can't log in on the regular online version, at least not easily. I can do the email, but cannot type on the password line. If I do get on and leave the site for a moment, I have to totally log in again. This happens on the iPad not on the iMac.

### 2/5 — No dates on articles

*2024-11-03, version 3.12.04*

The reporting of this paper is what you’d expect for a rural location. It’s a decent paper except that if you read articles in the app (unless you click on the virtual paper section), none of them are dated. I find it very frustrating not knowing when an article was reported. How strange for a newspaper not to date its work.

### 2/5 — No way to switch out of e edition!

*2022-10-02, version 3.6.23*

Seems like a real UI FAIL offering no way to switch OUT of e edition back to the live web view! Force quitting the app seems like the only method to switch back.

### 2/5 — What, no paper this morning?

*2019-09-04, version 2.9.42*

We switched to digital and today no paper with the app crashing on every iPad device, mine and my wife’s. You expect more from your hometown newspaper, but goal number one ought to be consistent delivery! App is unstable, maybe find a vendor who can deliver better quality.

### 2/5 — Not user friendly

*2018-07-17, version 2.9.10*

I don’t like this app. Considering cancelling my subscription. Too much sports and not enough other content. Can’t look back. Times I’ve wanted to read, there were no articles at all. Needs major improvement.

### 2/5 — Crashing

*2018-03-09, version 2.7.31*

For the past 2 weeks the app keeps crashing then when you are able to reopen it won’t let you read what you were trying to read in the first place. Very frustrating!

### 3/5 — Always have enjoyed reading the Eagle

*2026-01-20, version 3.19.15*

A great local paper. Terrific content especially during the darkest year of our lives, including two overseas deployments. Thanks for keep it real, honest and relevant.
