## What is The Bike Shed?

Track your bikes, components, and service history in one private place, with automatic mileage, wear tracking, ride import, widgets, and iCloud sync.

The Bike Shed is a privacy-first tracker for people who love their bikes. No accounts to create, no advertising, and no third-party analytics.
Add every bike you ride and let the app do the math: mileage flows from your rides to your parts, so you always know when a chain is worn, when to wax it, when to bleed your brakes, or when to refresh your tire sealant.

Log rides by hand, import your own GPX and FIT files, or sync automatically from Apple Health, Ride with GPS or Strava, complete with route maps to make assigning rides easy. Wear and lifespan tracking show how much life each part has left, and "due soon" and "overdue" reminders are tuned to how each component actually wears.

Features include:
• Unlimited bikes with photos, specs, and documents
• Components tracked by category, with serial numbers, prices, and warranty dates
• Part swaps with accurate per-component mileage across every install
• Wear and lifespan rings, fully customizable
• Maintenance reminders for lube, wax, bleed, sealant, and service
• A component health dashboard that surfaces what needs attention first
• Mileage and usage trends per bike and across your shed
• Cost-per-mile, total spend, and a full service log
• Ride import from Apple Health and third-party services, plus GPX and FIT files uploading
• Home screen widgets for a quick look at your shed
• JSON export to keep a copy of everything

The Bike Shed is free to start with a full-featured trial. Premium unlocks unlimited bike tracking, and if you'd rather not have a subscription, a lifetime license is available too. Your existing data is always free to view and export.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 2.3.0 — 2026-08-05

The biggest update yet! I've been hard at work adding features and tweaking others, and doing a whole lot of testing.

Spare parts (and the Parts Bin)
You can now see every component in your shed on a single screen. Shelve a part so it keeps the miles it earned with you, ready to go back on at any moment. Wax a chain sitting in your spare bin. Forgot to add a part you've already ridden? Backdate the life it's had.

Chains, on a schedule
Tell Bike Shed your lubrication system (oil, drip wax, immersion wax) and we'll remind you when it's due for a reapplication. Log it with a single tap. It's that simple. Plus, if you take regular chain-wear readings, we can project when a chain replacement is actually due.

More rides, fewer taps
Synchronization is way smoother now, and happens in the background. When you have rides pending confirmation, the app will notify you (with your consent, of course). Also, Strava sync is now supported!

Siri support
"How many miles on my chain?" "What's due on my gravel bike?" Log a ride or a service by voice, or even straight from the Home Screen widget.

When things go wrong
The new After a Crash and Bike Stolen features guide you through what to do after things go wrong and helps you centralize all of your information in one place. When you're ready, Bike Shed can generate a report for insurance or the police.

And many other new tools:
We've added a handy tire pressure calculator based on your weight, the bike's weight and where you're planning to ride. Also included: component weights, so your total weight is accurate to the gram.
Generate printable service summaries so your bike mechanic knows what's up with your bike.
Add components you're looking to buy to your wishlist and simplify tracking them all.
Add torque specs and notes on your components, so you never forget which nuts and bolts are problematic.
Retire a bike without deleting it.
Share a bike as a spec card or as a file another rider can open.
Choose which parts Component Health tracks, per bike.
Search your whole shed.

### 2.1.0 — 2026-07-19

Quite a few additions in this update. We've implemented per-bike heatmaps so you can see where you've taken each of your bikes, and an analytics section full of fun graphs.
Don't use any of the supported third-party platforms? We're working on it! In the meantime, we've also added GPX/FIT file import to manually-added rides so you can track your routes.
Also in this version: an easier-to-navigate components menu, with a toggle for a categorized list or overlaid on a bike diagram, and home screen widgets!
Also, squashed some bugs here and there, as usual.
