The Binaural creates personalized audio experiences using binaural beat generation combined with layered ambient and melodic elements. Put on headphones, pick a goal, and press play. Every session is procedurally generated. The audio engine builds real-time soundscapes from 25 ambient layers and 6 melodic elements — rain, ocean waves, forest, cosmic drones, singing bowls, gentle piano, and more. No two sessions sound alike. HOW BINAURAL AUDIO WORKS When you play slightly different tones in each ear through headphones, you perceive a third tone at the difference frequency. Binaural audio has been studied in academic literature as a sound design technique. The Binaural lets you explore this for focus, relaxation, and wind-down time. Fixes a rare click that could occur at the loop point on certain frequencies during longer sessions. ### 2.3.1 — 2026-07-07 Safer, smoother sessions. A calm, one-time safety note now appears before your first session and before Chest Mode, with clear guidance on volume, headphones, and when to check with a clinician. You can now minimize the player to keep a session going while you browse. We also tightened up settings, notifications, and a handful of rough edges. ### 2.3.0 — 2026-05-07 Chest Mode — listen without headphones. Lay your iPhone screen-up on your chest. The top and bottom speakers emit two slightly different frequencies that meet in the air over your sternum, creating a felt monaural beat — you both hear and feel it through chest cavity resonance. • Settings → Chest Mode to enable. First use shows a one-time disclaimer. • Beat-synced haptic pulse for sub-12 Hz beats (delta / theta / alpha bands). Toggle off in settings if you want pure audio. • Volume is auto-boosted in chest mode to compensate for speaker coupling. • "Chest Mode active" pill on Home so you always know the mode you're in. Headphones still recommended for full binaural beat sessions; chest mode is the no-headphones alternative. ### 2.2.2 — 2026-04-28 Bug fix release. • Audio plays correctly through the silent switch and continues in the background or when the screen is locked. Fixed an iOS audio session category bug that was muting playback the moment your device's silent switch was on. • Fixed sound layers blasting at full volume for a moment when first enabled, then fading away to silence. Layers now smoothly fade in to their target intensity. • Fixed manually enabled rain / ocean / forest / wind / thunder layers being silent in binaural-only sessions. Customize Sounds now works as expected — turn on a layer, hear it.
