### 4/5 — Readability

*2022-12-28, version 3.2.3*

Overall satisfied but sometimes a line or two of type disappears at the end of a story.

### 4/5 — It’s The Blade

*2022-06-02, version 3.2.3*

If you’re from the Toledo area. It’s The Blade, pretty good especially the local news, sports and obits. Not so much for most of the right wing cartoons and op-eds. Except for Keith Buress on sundays seems to have had a change of heart

### 4/5 — Uploading not happening

*2020-11-19, version 3.2.3*

The paper frequently will not upload.

### 4/5 — Improvements

*2020-07-28, version 3.2.2*

Your crossword puzzle should be interactive. I have to print it to do it. You can also expand the puzzle section.

### 4/5 — Convenient with a drawback

*2020-06-20, version 3.2.2*

I like having the convenience of The Blade on my phone, especially on days when there is no physical paper. The problem is trying to read more than one day’s paper in a single day. I don’t always have the time each day to read it, but the app almost always freezes when trying to download another day.

### 5/5 — A complete newspaper

*2019-12-30, version 3.2*

The Blade’s digital newspaper, the eBlade, is the mirror image of its sister print edition. But it also includes extra pages extra photos, games and information on pages not available with the print product. It automatically uploads to your tablet just after midnight. Stories can be emailed, photos enlarged with the tip of your fingers and many photos turn into a video enhancing the attached story. Advertisements are linked to the merchant’s website allowing e-commerce. The eBlade is one of America’s great digital newspapers published 7 days a week. It’s reliable, easy to use and chock full of international, national, state and local NEWS and opinion along with all the trimmings.

### 5/5 — Mrs. C.O.

*2019-12-19, version 3.2*

To be able to read the Blade at my own convenience is a plus.
Thanks, for making this a possibility.

### 4/5 — Good App most of the time

*2019-12-14, version 3.2*

Love reading the paper this way vs the slide. It’s the full blade including ads and comics. The app does occasionally have issues and sometimes needs to be reinstalled

### 5/5 — Blade App Review

*2019-10-08, version 3.1.3*

This is the best app for a newspaper you can find! Looks exactly like the paper. Doesn’t miss a beat. Thank you for making the eBlade convenient for me.

### 4/5 — Puzzles need “pop” out.

*2019-09-23, version 3.1.3*

Puzzles (I.e. cross word)either needs a “pop” where you can play on your device or an easy way of printing out.

### 5/5 — Blade on line

*2019-08-24, version 3.1.2*

Had to relocate to another state 4 years ago. With the on line version I am able to keep a heart beat on the City I Loved to live in for over 60 years. When I talk with my friends in Toledo I am able to talk current events in this City. I also find that the national news is more informative in a precise condensed format. The local paper where I now live I have not been able to warn up to like I have with The Blade.

### 5/5 — Blade review

*2019-08-15, version 3.1.1*

I have become totally hooked on reading the Blade online. This did not come easy. I was a rebel when it came to needing to have a paper in my hands to read. I was very upset about loosing a couple of newspapers. Then I downloaded the App!
I fell in love with the vivid color and ease of accessibility of articles. My favorite thing is that you can look at previous copies. Change can be good 🙂

### 5/5 — App will not open

*2019-07-21, version 3.0.2*

Looks like we had a recent update now the app will not open. Please fix. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Morning paper maybe

*2019-07-08, version 3.0.1*

I thought the blade was a morning paper and enjoy the print version before leaving for work at 6:30. The electronic version doesn’t show up until much and I can’t do the crossword so I can’t give it five stars but otherwise it’s great

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why, why, why

*2020-03-10, version 3.2.2*

I am unable to read the Blade today. This happens again and again. Why do I very frequently have problems downloading the Blade to my iPad? Why are words often missing at the bottoms of columns? Why don’t you make sure that everything works before you upgrade the app? I am paying for this and feel cheated.

Happened again after several months of uninterrupted service. I am unable to access the Blade on my iPad. I have been a customer for many, many years but am very disappointed in today’s digital product because of the unreliability.

Some days I can read the Blade and others not so much. Very disappointed!

### 1/5 — Not allowed to read a Blade

*2019-12-19, version 3.2*

I must pay for a subscription in order to read The Blade with this free app. Doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t like the format of the news slide. I pay the Block family enough through my cable/internet every month. Very Frustrating.

### 1/5 — Blade

*2019-03-12, version 3.0.1*

Obituaries, sports, both top notch. Your corps of sports writers are second to none. The coverage of local sports both high school and college are well done. Outdoor section is always ercqa great read. I say that, being I am not an outdoor sportsman. But the column is always very interesting and informative. Sports page junkie since mid sixties your writers have always been top notch. Also enjoy editorials especially ones done by local people. Please stop publishing Carty Finkwieners letters. The man is a fraud and full of himself. His opinion is no longer relevant. Thanks Bill Declercq

### 1/5 — Horrible update

*2018-11-30, version 2.1*

Yesterday I was prompted that I needed to update the app to version 2.1. After doing so I am unable to use the app. Upon opening the app a login pop up appears for a split second. I have been unable to download the latest edition of the paper since. The bug fixes introduced a new bug. Customer service has yet to reply.

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2017-07-22, version 1.9.5*

My elderly father gave up his paper newspaper because of vision issues. The iPad version works great for him except for the constant problems with it downloading. Which then causes phone calls early in the morning to me wanting to know what is going on. He faithfully deletes old versions and closes the app but to no avail. The only fix is to delete/reinstall the app which is too complicated for him. Now the app won't install! With print media going out of business or converting to strictly electronic versions, you would think the Block family would supply a better electronic version of the Blade. And just like everything the Block family does, a day late and a dollar short.

### 2/5 — Dictionary function Bugged

*2020-12-04, version 3.2.3*

Looking up words by highlighting them and opening the dictionary works fine, but hitting the “done” button does not work whatsoever, and I am locked out of the rest of the app until I kill it and restart it. Please look into this!

I love the content and having the Blade available on my iPhone but this is very frustrating.

### 2/5 — Saturday’s paper

*2020-09-14, version 3.2.3*

The format for most of the lead in captions were missing some of their words and then in some of the articles themselves some of the paragraphs leading into the next column were missing words and made no sense.

### 2/5 — Blade online isn’t

*2017-11-29, version 1.9.5*

For a technology company The Blade sure can’t seem to get it right. One of the greatest American newspapers! I don’t think so. So many problems with trying to load the ap on a new and old ipad it is pathetic. Weeks this has been going on and still the same. It ties up. I delete the ap clear cookies and nothing better. Great service you provide for all of the money your charge in subscriptions. Finally the last straw as I will NOT be renewing after decades of subscribing. Lived in the Toledo all my life and this rag continues to be the anchor for Toledo holding it back.

### 3/5 — Only slightly better than the news app

*2021-04-24, version 3.2.3*

Got rid of the Blade News App because it wouldn’t load properly. I now have the Blade Newspaper App and it takes forever to load and I can’t delete any of the past newspaper issues, after I read them. I think someone should fix this app and the other app also. They’re both lousy and pretty much useless. Sorry, I know that the truth hurts, but it’s true.

### 3/5 — Loading

*2020-02-12, version 3.2*

Sometimes it automatically loads the new edition and usually have to make it load.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Happy reader

*2022-10-15, version 3.2.3*

The Toledo Blade has the best coverage of the news in all northwest Ohio. I enjoy the sports coverage, especially high school. Keep on being an unbiased news source.

### 5/5 — A Sharp Blade

*2021-09-18, version 3.2.3*

Having The Blade online allows a way to increase the size of print of the articles. It is also easy to maneuver through the sections and pages. When necessary one can return to previous copies of the newspaper. The though provoking articles are appreciated, and I can either download many articles or mail these to former Toledo friends.

### 5/5 — Blade Feedback

*2021-01-16, version 3.2.3*

It takes a few days getting used to reading The Blade on an iPad vs. newspaper format, but, you will get used to this. I like being able to read The Blade early...4/5 a.m. before the day begins. I supplement this with the WSJ, Detroit Free Press, and the Fox News website. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Non-liberal bias

*2020-12-11, version 3.2.3*

Finally a paper I can read that tells the news and doesn’t constantly bash the conservative viewpoints. I ended my current city’s newspaper subscription and now read the Blade every single morning for all of my news. I have never experienced any problems downloading the issue. Great job.

### 5/5 — Quality

*2020-11-14, version 3.2.3*

The quality of the app is excellent and very easy to navigate. I cannot think of any suggestions or improvements that need to be made. Extremely pleased.

### 5/5 — Gary Incorvaia

*2020-09-15, version 3.2.3*

I really enjoy reading on-line paper, which is available anytime I want to read it or get caught up on news and sports.

### 5/5 — Options in Blade Apps

*2020-05-16, version 3.2.2*

Of the three options in Toledo Blade apps, this standard newspaper layout seems to work best. Media editors need to watch cutting off columns too closely. We lose letters that are clipped off at end of articles.

### 5/5 — It’s 5 stars for me.

*2020-05-04, version 3.2.2*

I love the online format of The Blade. The format is like the print version but less bulky, less ink on the fingers and no paper to recycle. The photos are sharper with better color. I like how I can email links to articles or print them out.

### 5/5 — Blade App

*2020-03-31, version 3.2.2*

Highly functional and works great plus no paper to handle and recycle. Thanks for asking!!!

### 5/5 — Consistent Bug

*2020-02-01, version 3.2*

Anytime I have highlighted a word to “look it up”, I can’t go back to reading the Blade newspaper until I delete the app and reinstall.
