Purchased the epaper (apparently) on iPad yesterday. Had the full app on iPhone. iPhone said no subscription. Why in gods name are two apps with same name in store. Why does company not recognize a purchase on one as a purchase of paper in either version? Waste of 90 minutes search for solution with Apple Support. ### 2/5 — A downgrade *2026-03-03, version 6.1.5* I often find it difficult to access the Globe as I cannot make the previous day’s addition disappear. That was not a problem with the previous iteration of this app. Needs to be fixed. ### 2/5 — Not a good as the old globe App *2025-11-02, version 6.1.5* A few days after I stopped being able to open the globe app on my old iPad I contacted support and was advised that they were phasing out the globe app and I would have to use the e paper. I’m not impressed… pages often won’t slide over, sometimes they are blank. It’s glitchy, there is a little page icon blocking part of the articles. Why did you have to fix it… It wasn’t broken, actually compared to the Globe app that I gave up on in disgust 15 ? What’s the problem?? ### 3/5 — Ok, not great *2024-10-28, version 6.1.4* I like being able to view the paper in its original format, and I like that one can click on an article and it will open in its own window. When forwarding an article, the app will often grab just the picture and caption and forward that instead of the whole article. I haven’t found a solution to this other than blocking and copying to paste in another application. Finally, and this is a real issue, every so often the paper is just not there, and all you can get is yesterday’s edition. This usually fixes itself sometime during the day, but it is unacceptable when you read the paper first thing in the morning. I don’t know if this is an app issue or whether someone at the Globe just forgets to push the edition. ### 4/5 — Satisfied *2024-09-03, version 6.1.4* I read the Globe on my iPad Air, and I really like being able to share articles. I like the full page view, to remind myself that it’s a newspaper, though I mostly enlarge to read. However, while reading on an iPad Mini is much better than reading on a phone, it’s not great. I have discovered a workaround to get the current day’s paper, but that daily task should be easier. I need to adjust font size in each article I read. Font size adjustment is not saved throughout the paper. The “Save” selection does not work. iPad Air Gen 3 iOS 17.6 ### 1/5 — Outraged over video ads in epaper! *2024-06-02, version 6.1.2* I can’t tell you how much I HATE the new ads peppering the epaper. I read the Globe every day and like most loyal newspaper readers today I’m a senior. The sudden inclusion of multiple moving, shaking and blinking ads in almost every article are rendering it almost unreadable. Stop it! The e_paper option is often unreadable. I switched to digital when the Globe stopped delivering my subscription. I get the sense that they just don’t care. ### 2/5 — Difficult to Turn Pages on iPad *2024-04-14, version 6.1.2* Latest update has made it much more cumbersome to turn pages. The arrows that used to be on the left and right margins have been eliminated, so if the swipe-left action doesn’t work, which happens frequently, it usually takes multiple tries to flip to the next page. I’m not the only one to have this problem. Please correct this bug and issue an update. ### 1/5 — What was the Globe thinking? *2024-04-12, version 6.1.2* I used to enjoy reading the Globe epaper because it was formatted just like its regular newspaper, Not like its regular website version. This “new” version of the epaper is impossible to read. It is formatted in such a way that no matter which way I attempt to read it on my IPad, vertical or horizontal, the print is soooo SMALL that you would need a magnifying glass to do so. Also, I have noticed that in scrolling from one page to the next, one page may be connected half of another, so you are looking at 1 1/2 pages at once. Also, there didn’t seem to be any way to enlarge the print manually. Redo this app for the epaper ! It should be formatted to present the paper as a regular newspaper- showing one page at a time, and with the print large enough to read it. Disgusting! I’m going to delete this app. ### 1/5 — Latest update makes the Globe app look 30 years old *2024-04-04, version 6.1.2* Just updated on April 4th, 2024 and now the app just has small text headlines with tiny pictures. This is a terrible UI. When it started to have issues, I downloaded the latest version. It didn't work for a week or so and I tried the other e-version. Not acceptable. Today, I deleted the old app and re-installed the new app. BANG! Right back to the great version I have used for many years on 3 iPads!! Please don’t ever drop this app! It gives you the experience of reading the paper without all junk in the margins. AND - is much easier to download editions for off-line use. It's now the best newspaper app that I'm aware of. In the past the Globe had two big advantages: it looked on the screen the way it does on paper, and the whole edition downloaded once, so that it could be read offline. But navigating the pages was often a chore, especially on my slower 3rd generation iPad. Somehow all those problems have been fixed. Now it's a breeze, easier than paper. ### 5/5 — Very pleased with the current clean 'old school' version *2015-11-29* I have used every version of Globe electronic edition over the past 10 years or so, with mixed results. I have to say I am very pleased with the current version! It's look and feel has gone 'back to basics' with the old school page layout that simply looks exactly like the print version. Instead of alternate views of articles and adjusting fonts, I simply tap to zoom and drag to pan, just like with the real paper. To continue with an article on another page, I just read what it says and use the navigation at the top to get there. (I almost wish it linked to the continuation page, but I appreciate the simplicity and cleanliness of not having the embedded link.) The paper downloads smoothly, and reading is fine on my somewhat old first-gen iPad Mini. I'm as happy as I've been with my Globe subscription in a while. I get home delivery on Sunday only for the coupons/circulars and Globe Magazine, and read the paper any day I want on my iPad. I think you got it right this time Globe.
