### 4/5 — Love The Bulwark, app needs a little love

*2026-05-04, version 1.0.1*

Overall, I love the Bulwark app—much better than Substack. One glitch: The feed for the Bukwark+ Takes podcast is almost always way out of date. Today, May 4, for example, the most recent episode it shows is April 6.

### 4/5 — Comments are too small

*2026-03-30, version 1.0.0*

I like the app, but i am unable to read comments anymore on phone or ipad bec print is too small and can’t be expanded as before. Can you fix this?.

### 5/5 — My Favorite independent media

*2026-03-24, version 1.0.0*

I don’t always agree but I always learn something and I am frequently entertained.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2026-03-13, version 1.0.0*

I love the app. What took so long?!?!

### 5/5 — The best way to stay informed AND sane

*2026-03-10, version 1.0.0*

The Bulwark is my daily dose of sanity in this mad, mad world. Proud to be a Bulwark plus member. The information and opinions are worth every penny. The sense of community is outstanding.

### 5/5 — New app

*2026-03-10, version 1.0.0*

I love the ability for the articles to be read to me. I find it hard to consume all the articles The Bulwark produces. Noe I can catch up by listening. Great job.

### 5/5 — Best App to Understand the News

*2026-03-09*

This is heads and shoulders above any other app for helping to understand what is happening in the US and the world. Their policy of “radical honesty “ is exactly what’s needed in these times of openly lying politicians and leaders. Get it, read it, listen to it, watch it, you won’t be sorry!

### 5/5 — Bulwark Podcast

*2026-03-08, version 1.0.0*

The best and most important app in the U.S. right now.

### 5/5 — Best independent media

*2026-03-08, version 1.0.0*

Come here is you want high quality and non-crazy independent media

### 5/5 — Awesome! 🥰

*2026-03-07, version 1.0.0*

Stop reading this and wish Sarah a joyful birthday by preordering Sarah’s new book: How to Eat an Elephant, One Voter at a Time.

### 5/5 — So valuable

*2026-03-07, version 1.0.0*

We rely on the Bulwark for first rate political commentary. Good to have everything in one place on this new app!

### 4/5 — Bulwark has an app

*2026-03-07, version 1.0.0*

I use many news apps and this is one of the best. It’s easy to use and I get content from people that can slip through the cracks. Highly recommend

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Comments are too small

*2026-07-25, version 1.0.2*

I like the app, but i am unable to read comments anymore on phone or ipad bec print is too small and can’t be expanded as before. Can you fix this?.

### 1/5 — Frustrated

*2026-07-19, version 1.0.2*

I bought a subscription two months ago. No matter what I do, your system continues to show me as a free rather than paid subscriber.

### 1/5 — Room for improvement

*2026-03-20, version 1.0.0*

It would be great…if it worked. The videos are slow to upload to the app and some aren’t there a week later, even though there is clearly a place held for them to be uploaded. Videos inconsistently have the option for captions which is important to me as someone who has a hearing loss. Most videos do not have the caption option. Why is it so janky?

### 1/5 — Better than Substack?

*2026-03-06, version 1.0.0*

Unfortunately the video feed. Disappointed.

### 1/5 — Another app? Are you kidding me?

*2026-03-04, version 1.0.0*

I struggle to see why this is needed beyond the Substack app. Now I have yet one more vanity app on my phone.

### 2/5 — Love the Bulwark, app is awkward

*2026-04-06, version 1.0.0*

Not easy to navigate and the format is off putting. Prefer Substack.

### 3/5 — Dropping the signal.

*2026-03-13, version 1.0.0*

Podcast keeps stopping third Korean halfway through. Tried three times to resume and kept being taken back to the beginning. Sorry to miss what seemed an important piece of news.

### 4/5 — The Bulwark stands alone

*2026-07-27, version 1.0.2*

I’m so glad The Bulwark exists to help me navigate this insane timeline we’re living through. I enjoy getting their content here without the clutter of YouTube ads and other creators voices interrupting. I only gave 4 stars bc being able to save is great, but I’d also like to have the option to throw a like on an article or video, and to be able to track those. Sometimes I’m confused about how this app is intertwined with Substack, too. I’m so grateful for all of the intelligent Bulwark conversation and perspective.

### 4/5 — Love the content-hate the playback

*2026-06-04*

Love listening to the podcast. However, if I get a call while I’m listening to a podcast with my earbuds, it cuts me off from the podcast completely and I can’t get back to the spot where it left off. Other than that it’s a great app.

### 4/5 — Love bulwark but please fix video

*2026-05-26, version 1.0.2*

Love The Bulwark, love the takes, love the articles. What I would love even more is if I close the app and then come back to it and can play the video I was on at the timestamp where it stopped.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very Smart Content!

*2026-06-29, version 1.0.2*

The volume and quality of content is impressive!! I love being informed and entertained at the same time. The Bulwark rocks!!

### 5/5 — Why independent media is essential

*2026-06-03*

I am super liberal, always have been but this fight is bigger than policy differences. I might not always agree with the takes but I love the honesty, the fight and the necessary cautionary notes doled out on the daily by one JVL. I enjoy the range of talent at the Bulwark, the rapid responses by The Fingering Trio (I hope I have that right), and others to events as they happen. In sum I’m a fan and deeply grateful for your shows and newsletters.

### 5/5 — A Long Time for a Good Thing

*2026-06-02, version 1.0.2*

I’ve been waiting for an app so I didn’t have to long into substack every time I wanted to read an article. Thanks, Bulwark! This app is intuitive and easy on the eyes.

### 5/5 — Madness

*2026-06-01, version 1.0.2*

We’re going to get through this with JVL’s smart snark, Tim’s outrage, Sarah’s intelligence, Sam’s giggles and Mark’s fortitude.

### 5/5 — Easy access

*2026-05-20, version 1.0.2*

BW really is the better writing and the array of subjects are impressive. From “justhitmeintheheadwithabat” news ( courteous of MSW listener),
Every day it’s where’s my bat today news?
I swear I’m JVL’s long lost sister.
His supposed dark side I’d rather “Listentothetruththanbeliedto”.
Thanks!

### 5/5 — The Antidote for All That Ails Us

*2026-05-19, version 1.0.2*

Smart news and politics with a centrist heart and they won’t take any baloney from gaslighting authoritarian sex offenders in the Epstein Class. Perfect.

### 5/5 — Exactly What I Wanted

*2026-04-26, version 1.0.1*

Excellent app! Clean, easy to use, smooth functioning, and some of the best political analysis around.

### 5/5 — smart minds

*2026-04-21, version 1.0.1*

the Bulwark is my favorite news source , 100%

### 5/5 — Love the Bulwark, video freezing

*2026-04-18, version 1.0.1*

Nice to have everything in one place. Sometimes audio stops while video runs and vice versa.

### 5/5 — 😊

*2026-03-27, version 1.0.0*

Love these folks!
