But one less star because I *hate* horror movies. *2021-04-30* Script, acting, filming, all is quite top level. The interactivity is not really there, just a tap from time to time to make you feel in control. Butvyou're not really. For example in the FMV Erica, you make decisions which really count and change the story. This is worth five stars but I can not do that for a horror movie. ### 3/5 — Good but... *2019-05-29* Entertaining video action movie game, but takes up too many GBs on initial installation, and is very quick to play. These types of video action games are fantastic, but this one seems to require very little skill or problem solving. The theme is also pretty miserable being depressing post apocalyptic, also it is quite creepy and a bit gory, so not good for younger or the squeamish! I like horror and I found this depressing. ### 2/5 — Not for gamers *2017-08-27, version 1.2* There's really no getting to this, it's more of just a movie with a little interaction. There's really no alternate endings and any decision you make really have no affect on the story. Actually There not decisions but continue buttons to the next scene disguised as decisions. Now if you want to watch a halfway decent indie short film then it's OK. ### 3/5 — Amazing but... *2017-07-09* This game is brilliant, and such a refreshing change from so many games out there that are basically rubbish. The whole concept is great, and it's very tense too. Was really enjoying it...until I reached level 4. I've arthritic fingers and carpal tunnel and you have to tap sooooo fast to progress I've been left in excruciating agony and my arm is so painful I've had to take pain killers. No game should cause one physical harm. There were so many of these 'fast' tap points that I had to quit the game and will be asking for a refund. So disappointed - as was thoroughly enjoying it. Devs please take note! My husband is 70 and I've had to ask for his help, but at this point he can't tap fast enough either! It's not necessary to have stages where you can't progress unless you're young and/or able to tap super fast. I got passed one bunch without too much trouble, but others take forever and a lot of pain to move on. I've been waiting for a game like this for iPad. I played a lot of similar games on PC. I hope there are different scenarios though as I finished it in 2 hours. So, £3.99 is a bit steep if there aren't any other ways through the game. They were all fun to play except this one. This isn’t really a choice-based game like the others. With the other games, you’re given at least two ways to respond to a situation and you get different outcomes based on your response. With this game, you choose objects to click on and if you pick the wrong one, the character tells you and you just pick another object. Not much choosing here. The objects you pick are mostly things to read like books, manuscripts, and computer screens. Boring. Other times, after choosing a door to open, you then have to click another dot to turn the door knob. Seriously, how is this choosing? I played up to the part where my character keeps falling off a ladder with no clear instructions on how to stop that from happening. A dot appears on the screen that I assume I’m supposed to press, but when I do, nothing happens. He still falls and you must replay the same, tediously long scene that takes him to the ladder over and over again. Boring. Because I liked the other games so much, I took a chance and paid $5 up front. I feel cheated because this game isn’t really a choice-based game like the others. It's a horror themed choose-your-own-adventure with no real choices! You're basically tapping to get to the next part of the story. How this achieved a "game of the year" award astounds me. It's a decent story, but that's all it is. You get only 1 real puzzle in the game, and it isn't hard. If you want to watch a short movie (although it's not that short--you can't skip any of the narrative sequences) go ahead and buy this. If you want a real game of some kind, save your money and move on. Gave me wrist pain and I couldn’t finish game. Why, just why? The puzzles are so stupid why not just let us enjoy the story 😠 ### 2/5 — A pale attempt at a narrative *2020-01-26, version 1.2* The game was a fairly poor attempt at anything resembling a game. Your choices make little difference, if any, and the same ending occurs regardless of anything you do. The acting is subpar, particularly with the main character. He looks so weaselly and pathetic that I was almost rooting against him, hoping he’d find some new way to get injured or thwarted in his mission. The big “twist” is a yawn. I won’t give anything away, but prepare to be incredibly disappointed if you waste the money on this “game.” If you like FMV games, try “Her Story” instead. The actor that plays John, and the child actor that plays younger John did a fantastic job. Really compelling story, rather bleak in places but very realistic imo showing how someone may act in that situation out of desperation(I’m referring to his mum). Really digging this developer at the moment and have downloaded quite a few of their film games.
