I used it a lot. However for about two months now the ap seams to malfunction. After scanning a song to detect chords only about 25 seconds of the songs chords will be displayed. The audio keeps playing the song but chords stop. I sent an email to customer support have not gotten a reply. Given that that don’t reply and haven’t issued an update for two years I’m guessing they are now milking this, they don’t care and have moved on. ### 1/5 — What happened? *2019-12-28, version 1.3.0* I used to LOVE this app! But it no longer loads more than 60 seconds of a song. Don’t be fooled. I have used this app for many years and it has served me well. Many times it has solved problems I was having figuring out which chords are being played etc. Now Apple In all its wisdom decide to upgrade the iPad software and rendered my Chord detector useless. It will not detect the correct chords and will only detect for the first 30 to 60 seconds of songs from my iTunes library. Tried contacting support....nothing. Still waiting a week later. I’m not holding my breathe. I will have to look elsewhere for a new app I think. Now three weeks and still waiting. ### 1/5 — NOT WORKING *2019-11-29* This was working properly at the initial stages. The functionality that is most useful: 1. being able to upload any audio file via Dropbox for analysis. 2. the key change option! This is a function I use a lot to train my ear while learning a song if the band wants to do it in a different key from the audio. 3. the user interface. It is so much cleaner and easier to read than other apps like Chordify. I’ve noticed that more recently the YouTube option has stopped working and that perhaps the app developer has lost interest in keeping this app updated. Add too those, the characteristic of utility and you can nearly, see into the promised land with clarity and resolution the pathway found within the "lay of the land" arrayed before you so resplendently! Step out and then in - to know what and where you are & then could, will must be! Your app is awesome! Very helpful by making possible a good, sound & solid place too start! ### 5/5 — As POWERFUL as an APP can get *2018-11-25* In reading some of the negative reviews this app is getting by seasoned musicians, I’m apt to write that CHORD DETECTOR is as powerful as this sort of “app” can get, being a seasoned musician. Caveat: I’m a seasoned rock & pop musician. By default it cannot be perfect. You don’t need to understand how the app processes any given piece of music (music you OWN or have created via a DAW, but you must have the digital rights, e.g. Soundblocks samples, etc), of course. But what other app in the market does this at all, and in this manner? Basics, folks: you prompt it (the app) to process a basic “lead sheet” which it does, and does so FAST, and elegantly. The fact that it generates the correct basic chord structures, as correct as possible for an “app” of this nature on a mobile device, is a tour-de-force. It is powerful: It’s extremely helpful to me in composing, from melodic creation to chord structures to tempo, and often “on the go”. I am in awe of its compression algorithm; if you’ve tried a DAW (like garage band) on the go, you’d “get it”. You can transpose, change tempo, and extrapolate your music theory knowledge re: why it may have “chosen” the wrong chord in the context of a given song, b/c it does not choose a “wrong” chord in context. It surprises me that the app doesn’t “explode” or “implode” in this sense. It has never crashed on me, which I find amazing. Of course it’s not ideal for extremely complex pieces, but this is not a “learning” app. Yet it’s my favorite app-tool to learn and create music, period. And I’m a pianist-vocalist, not a guitar player. The fact it can generate (to e-mail, etc) a chord lead sheet is priceless. You’ll have to fiddle with it, of course, but it helps more than having the sheet music of a rock song for your covers band. Or your originals band. Or when working with raw music files in a DAW. I can only back up my claims in terms of my own music creation as a DIY musician in a rock band called Neuro or Neuro NYC. One release, an album called “Mind Altar”, available everywhere, is a testament of songs which this app helped me write, communicate, refine, record and record. FIVE STARS ++!! ### 5/5 — SoundCloud song chords unlocked! *2018-11-05, version 1.3.0* Thank you soooo much, as a very novice banjo and Uke player I am so grateful to have this tool!
