This game actually shortened my reaction time so now, I'm a better AWP user. This game has it all, plus an homage to Bruce!!! I'm goo-goo for 8-bit and 16-bit, and the music is perfect. My only gripe is that it doesn't work well on my older iOS device (v 6.0.6). Otherwise, this game is gold. The latest update was great. Will there be another amazing update or a part 2!?!? Great job Curl King! You will counter high and low strikes as well as throwing weapons to advance through levels. You will be able to upgrade your health and outfits by earning points. It's simplistic controls, yet tough difficulty, amazing 8-bit visuals and the fact that it's pretty much a tribute to one of the greatest martial arts legends makes this game nothing short of a national treasure. It takes inspiration from old games like Karateka and movies like Kill Bill. There is one single IAP to remove ads which allows you also to continue with out ads as well. You use in game currency earner by actually playing to by extra life hearts and outfits. The gameplay has a lot of depth and is really fun and intense. The devs are very responsive to player requests and are communicative on the Touch Arcade forums. Just a phenomenal game! Absolutely 5 stars. Thanks for the upgrades, but the new Super version still freezes when I get hit by a boss character. I like the addition of kicks. It would be better if the hero's strike commands would randomly mix the kicks in with the combos. But this is game of death. It's a fun game I'm not going to deny that. It's good. But is his family getting any royalties for this? I somehow doubt that. Sense it's got a funky name change. Bit this is Bruce Lee. You can tell from the art style to the sound effects and it's based on game of death. I'm not going to give star a game when the only real idea they have here is the combat system. Everything else is taken from someone else hard work. There are 3 reasons why I don't like this game 1. The game has barely any plot. The only thing is that you have to save some girl and who even are you and what happens for you to get in this situation. I think this game makes more sense. 1- star 2. The controls of the game is so confusing and I don't know how to play. I mean really it's not that hard to add a how to play thing!! 2- star 3. The last think I don't like is that you have a small screen to play in. However, it's a very old styled game. I understand people like that, and so do I to an extent, but it's getting old. Literally. It would also be nice if there was some storyline to it. What am I striving for? Why do I need to go up these floors? Without motivation, people lose interest quick. I'd say it's good for starters but needs more content. As fun as it temporarily was, it still didn't cut it for me. ### 3/5 — Has potential *2016-07-01, version 1.0* But the main menu screen is glitchy with character sprites all over, ads show up right away after one loss and no option to pay to get rid of ads. Would be cool to have your character hit the enemy more than once for more satisfying game feel, but maybe that comes later. The ad thing soured me on playing for too long, so you might ignore this. Art is nice, music is great, definitely has potential! Picky note: cinematic starts off with PLAY note like on VHS but then shows old reel flicker and film grain. I'd stick with VHS effect and stay consistent. :) ### 4/5 — Cool and addicting *2016-07-12, version 1.1* This game is very well done and easy to understand. The difficulty goes up smoothly and the animations are good. Pro tip: Countering at the last possible moment gives you a COUNTER OF DEATH that kills enemies life bars instantly (the blue flames). It’s a great game with fun challenges. The inspiration for the game is awesome and over all you’ll have a fun time with it. But every time you want to support the game and pay for the extra characters the game locks up. I appreciate this game’s appeal as someone that likes learning fighting games. I can vouch for the challenge that comes from the last two bosses and the other two modes. (If I’m correct, the fastest attacks you block are...16-18 frame punches?) This is game is purely about reaction. Don’t try to predict attacks and don’t get flustered when the enemy hits you. Keep that in mind and you’ll improve. The only thing I’d suggest is more costumes, perhaps different combat animations for your hero. It’s free, you only have to pay to get rid of ads, and the ads aren’t invasive. There’s a grind for hearts (max hp increase), but you can reach max capacity quickly if you get good. This game is pretty cool. ### 5/5 — Awesome game *2019-04-27, version 1.55* Would like to see the game updated for today’s ios and what not. Um really wish that when you enter a floor and when you die you can start at that floor instead of doing the previous floor first before getting to the floor you were on. Kinda redundant to do that since the floor is a checkpoint since when you continue even at the boss stage you must start again at the beginning of the floor. One suggestion: you should DODGE the shuriken instead of blocking them. You would need to press the opposite direction to dodge instead of block.
