## What is The Curry Guy?

Ever wanted to recreate curry house style meals in your own kitchen? Or want to learn how to cook popular Chinese, Thai, Mexican dishes and more? Look no further!

The Curry Guy app features over 300 recipes (over 25 of which are free of charge). Each of these recipes includes illustrated step-by-step instructions, designed to keep things simple in the kitchen.

The Indian restaurant style recipes are the result of years of travelling up and down the UK, visiting countless restaurants and learning the tricks of the trade from some of the best chefs in the industry. From chicken tikka masala to lamb vindaloo, onion bhajis to tandoori chicken, you are certain to find the curry house style recipes you love.

This is the best curry recipe app BY FAR. The recipes are authentic, easy to follow and absolutely delicious. The one time access fee is great value once you realise the quantity of recipes and how unique they are. So why only 2 stars? Because the app takes at least 10 minutes to download its content every single time it is opened. I have an iPhone 17 with updated software, I’ve deleted and re-downloaded the app, it makes no difference. While it’s downloading you have to keep the app open and the screen unlocked, or it starts again. It’s INFURIATING. This means I’m super reluctant to plan recipes from the app because the thought of waiting for it to open is so irritating and really unfortunate. So - 5 stars for app content, but 0 stars for app performance.

The recipes are great, they look nice. Every time I open the app it spends 40 minutes downloading images. It doesn’t cache them (as far as I can tell), it doesn’t continue in the background so I have to keep the app open and my screen unlocked, and it doesn’t start from the same place if there is a network error- it starts again. Immediately uninstalling and will try and get a refund on the subscription.

I understand the photos are helpful, and the recipes are great. But Stuart, PLEASE implement a local cache for this app so that it doesn’t have to download the entire gallery every time I open the app. It’s not just the initial open, it downloads images EVERY time I open the app, and has done for the last year or so. It really takes stars away from an otherwise amazing tool

The recipes are good but be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes to load recipes, images etc every time you open it unless it’s only been a few days.

**Developer response:** Hi and thank you for the review! Recipe updates are released every couple of months, so only a handful of downloads per year to get those extra recipes. We've also recently updated the app which should see much faster downloads when recipe updates are released. The app is OK but seems expensive for what I can get just as easily off the website. There are some errors and confusion, e.g. beef rendang overview mentions , kerisik, as rice powder but seems to be coconut powder further on. It’s useful and the recipes are good but for the price I was expecting something more.
