Thanks! ### 5/5 — Anglicans are not praying to Mary *2023-06-21, version 2.0.4* Let me clarify on the point that everyone is talking about in the evening prayer “That we may be bound together by your Holy Spirit in the communion of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all your saints, entrusting one another and all our life to Christ, We entreat you, O Lord.” The prayer mentioned is asking the Holy Spirit to bind all Christians together. This is in line with the Reformed Anglican understanding of the Communion of Saints. The Communion of Saints is the whole church, past, present, and future, united in Christ. God the Holy Spirit brings all believers together. Traditionally, the Blessed Virgin Mary is employed as the symbol of the church in the Communion of Saints. This is because she is seen as the mother of Christ and therefore the mother of the church. She stands as a symbol of the unity of all believers in Christ. The prayer is for the unity of all believers, including those who have already passed on to be with Christ, those who are still living, and those yet to come. The unity of the Virgin Mary and the rest of the saints is seen as possible now, as they are not truly dead but are at home with the Lord. This is in line with the Reformed Anglican Theology belief in the resurrection of the dead, where all believers will be raised and united with Christ. ### 5/5 — Praying to Mary *2023-06-13, version 2.0.4* Anglicans do pray to Mary, so keep it in. Thank you. ### 5/5 — Awesome *2023-02-10, version 2.0.4* I am not Anglican, but have used this app, and the actual prayer book, for the past couple of years for daily reading. The developer has been great in responding to several email questions I have had and sincerely wants to make an app that is helpful for its users. I recall asking about some additional settings that have been incorporated in the new version. I remember asking about adding some additional translations which the new version has done! I remember asking about adding the occasional prayers in the prayer book for easy access on the go, and not only has that been done, but you can actually add them to appear in the text of the daily office for any of the prayer times. When I first started to use the new version there were some glitches (what app doesn’t have some) for example when choosing a translation that doesn’t have a version of the apocrypha it was blank for those readings. I emailed the developer who responded with an apology, fixed the problem, and emailed me back asking for further feedback on the problem to ensure it was fixed all same day. I love the app so much that I offered to support further development financially and was assured that things are covered, and that wasn’t necessary at this time. There aren’t too many apps in the App Store where a developer uses their own time to create something simply for the benefit of others without any expectation of a reward. Sounds a lot to me like gospel ministry in a somewhat unique, and powerful way to me personally, and I’m incredibly grateful for the work that’s been put into this app. ### 5/5 — I love it! *2023-02-04, version 2.0.4* The family prayer mode is especially sweet. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — ACH! Nah… *2025-02-25, version 2.2.1* This is the electronic version developed by the racist sexist republican acna group not in communion with the rest of episcopacy. Their prayer book version was a bigger joke than they are. If you’re going to prefer a traditional prayer book, use the 1928 BCP. Flipping your nose at the 1979 and making a more chaotic mess than the 79 is certainly a look. No thanks. ### 1/5 — Settings do not work *2024-09-10* Cannot select Bible version and some other options No matter what you choose, app settings are stuck on what the default setting is ### 1/5 — New version awful *2022-11-30, version 2.0.3* This has been my favorite app used daily for a couple of years but the new version is awful. The font is huge and it does not remember what you set it to. The clean look is gone and it now looks like an old website that should have been updated long ago. It lists officiant/people on the left (formerly you knew one was bold and the other was not), leaving only enough room on the right for very short rows of text (so annoying!!!). Why did they have to destroy such a good thing? Previously it was so aesthetically pleasing it encouraged you to use it just by its beauty; now it is so awkward and bulky I can hardly stand to use it. It just shows a banner to financially support the app but doesn’t show the readings. I loved the app before the update! ### 3/5 — Get rid of the blue arrow! *2025-07-22, version 2.2.1* Please get rid of the blue arrow that with the lightest touch scrolls all the way up or down in whichever daily office you might be doing. VERY frustrating. Also need to fix the glitch that causes the text to be too big if your phone is orientated differently ie you turn it from vertical to horizontal or from horizontal to vertical. Do Anglicans pray to Mary? Lately we have noticed bible passages in the daily readings that appear to have missed the eye of an editor as we see instances of the text missing spaces between some words (e.g., Jeremiah 26:2 for Tuesday Jan 27, 2026) and shortened versions missing many verses (e.g., Genesis 25 for Monday Jan 26, 2026 - missing verses 19-34). It would be really great if you would fix these issues.
