Could possibly be because I’m on an iPhone 12 and that’s an older phone. Everything else works fine. It has access to photos but still says it’s missing permissions. ### 3/5 — Great but needs work *2026-07-13* Great app and ease of use! It works most of the time but there are two bugs that continue to come up. 1-saving a single photo will crash the app every time. Group download fine, but no singles. 2-Rotating the photo will not save, it just reverts back to the original scan. Won’t download the way you rotated it either. ### 4/5 — Good so far *2025-08-28* Have only used to view photos uploaded this far, but the app crashes out each time I delete a photo from the album. ### 2/5 — Initial order *2025-06-21* Trying to set up to get roll developed. Seems intuitive, but once I select all the options regarding my roll, it just tells me the shopping cart is empty. Secondly, kept booting me from app after entering mail and billing address (why not have an option to check a box and that says both are same?) and not saving it. Shelving this for now and developing elsewhere. It gets 2 stars because I can’t say I’ve actually had any success using it. ### 3/5 — Provide Alternative Backgrounds *2024-12-21* The Darkroom lab is awesome. Absolutely nothing but respect for them and their services. It’s really cool having an app to access my photos. One thing I wish they would change is the background when looking at the photos. It would be nice to be able to change it to a solid color or just black, white, or dark grey. The current background is distracting. Apart from that, no complaints! ### 2/5 — Could be good, but is objectively bad *2024-12-07* Let me start with the good: An easy way to access your scans from your order, and love the ability to quickly rotate the photos. The bad: the app crashes to springboard maybe 50% of the time that I tap on a photo I want to view. Insane how often it happens. Also the inability to zoom in within the app is so weird. Fix the constant crashing and allow people to preview in full screen and zoom and you’re good to go. ### 3/5 — I LOVE you but I’m begging for you to fix the app 😭 *2024-03-16* I saw another person also mention this frustration but the photos don’t save in the correct order when you save the whole album. Then on another note the app is buggy and will be in the middle of downloading images and freeze with 6 or 7 left to go, and because all the images are not in order, it’s a pain to figure out what pictures I didn’t get. Plz I love your film lab so much and how quickly the pictures get developed, the scan quality and everything is perfect but the app :(( ### 3/5 — Character limit on email address? *2023-11-13, version 3.1.5* Tried resetting my password for the app, and it says I can enter my username or email address. However, I can’t type my full email address as there seems to be a 16 character limit. ### 4/5 — Great app and company, Fix saving order though! *2023-09-29* Love this place and the app but my only issue is when you save your roll as a whole to your camera roll, it saves in a random order. Not the order that the roll was shot in. Although, having the app would be quite flexible and easier to access photos. It just shows a blank screen ? ### 2/5 — Sleeker app loses features *2022-10-26* Bummed by the new update which makes a sleeker looking app, but unfortunately loses some aspects of the old app that I loved (plus I loved the low-key version - it was very simple looking and functional). Now when you download your photos to your phone, it doesn’t size them for social media as the old version did. So photos are too big and get cropped on Instagram, for example, and you need to use a second app if you wanna edit it to make it fit. ### 2/5 — Can’t Login App *2022-03-30* First, let me say I LOVE DarkroomLab. They have amazing service and are my go to developers for 35mm film. However, I can’t seem to log on to the app. I’ve changed my password multiple times and verified by logging into the website but the app still says it’s incorrect. Every time “my cart is empty”. Ok I give up. ### 1/5 — Bummer *2025-07-07, version 4.0* Used this once before and was really happy. Now it just keeps saying my cart is empty after choosing my options. ### 1/5 — Can’t place order *2023-10-31, version 3.1.5* When putting in my card info I never get a complete processing. Now I’m on my second complete delete and reload, we’ll see if that works. And, when it was partly working, there was constantly a badge notice on it, that I could not remove. Hope they can improve it, would make things very handy. Latest version has an odd bug which prevents saving images to Photos app. Says “Image saved to Photos”, but nothing is saved. Why? It seems that the app is not making use of the iOS Photos permission option to “Add Photos Only.” App is requiring FULL access to Photos or download fails. App doesn’t need full Photos access, so I don’t grant it. Very good otherwise. A company that develops your film and not only do they do it at such a nice resolution they also make it in different sizes and borders and matte or glossy. They fixed the app photos permissions very quickly, and the app now makes use of the option for Limited Access plus Add Photos (if user selects). Purchasing the processing and sending it out was super easy, the photos were processed within a day and a half of getting there and I got my negatives back about 2 days after that. High quality scans, even with the cheapest option, an easy process and solid communication the whole time with updates. I’m so happy I found The Dark Room as my county no longer has any options for developing film. I’m even happier with The Dark Room app. It is Easy to use and basic in all the right ways.
