I am a type 2 diabetic mom and they have a section dedicated for moms! I love the support I get from the community, the resources they offer and the overall fact that it’s an app dedicated just for us diabetics! Like I see you can chat and introduce yourself but how do you actually make friends with them **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and question. To add someone as a friend, simply click their profile photo which will redirect you to their profile page. From there, click on the "Message" button. This will send them a friend request. Once they accept the request, you will be able to start chatting directly to them. An app for us with diabetes! *2020-08-17, version 3.12.4* I was unsure about an app like this at first and how it could be different from the Facebook groups I am in. Now, I know the difference! The creators of this app have done so much research to see what people with diabetes would want in terms of community support! Mental health support? ✅ Recipe ideas? ✅ Want to connect with others with diabetes and share your story? ✅ this app has it all and more. Deleting and redownloading does nothing ### 1/5 — Grifters taking Advantage of Diabetics *2021-10-11, version 3.43.2* Need I say more? We’ve had enough. ### 1/5 — Trash app *2021-10-03, version 3.43.2* This app is trying to sell you upcharged diabetes products. Don’t bother. ### 1/5 — Bare Bones App, Questionable Business Practices *2021-10-02, version 3.43.2* The app itself is not impressive at all. Lots of issues with bots joining and trying to message you for “dating”—this is not a dating app, is supposed to be a diabetes community app. The Diabetes App (TDA) said that they released a fix for it by requiring users to verify their accounts by confirming via a link sent to our emails, but it doesn’t seem to have helped. You can’t delete private message convos at all, so every spammer who messages you will stay in your inbox forever. Not to mention the app is so bare bones it’s almost useless. It’s just one gigantic feed of everyone on the app, and you can only filter for a 5 groups—all types, type 1, type 2, type 1 adults, and type 1 kids. You can’t search for common interests or even find new friends local to you—you just have to post a message and hope that someone in your area is looking at the app around the same time. TDA also doesn’t seem to want to pay diabetic creators for their content, and just rips them off instead while also contacting these creators asking them to pay to advertise on the app. Instead of apologizing, they tried to gaslit the creator who called them out and also announced their intent to IPO in the same semi/non-apology. They plan to make money by creating a pharmacy within their app and also by having ads, but they seem to have no plans to make the app a good experience for users. ### 1/5 — Stealing Miss Diabetes Art Ideas *2021-10-01, version 3.43.2* The app developers have stolen multiple ideas from Miss Diabetes (a T1D artist) because she didn’t want to have her artwork on their app. They then offered for HER to pay them to advertise. Unreal. Unfortunately, it seems like this app has fallen into the moral ambiguity of every other service offered to diabetics. We are viewed as cash cows and that’s about it. ### 2/5 — Not what was expected *2021-03-29, version 3.29.4* I’m not finding great information for me and my T1 journey on this app. I also received my first creepy message on day 1. I have used it to ask questions and opinions on all things diabetes. The only thing that’s a concern is people who send “please accept my flower” messages. I’m not sure why but it does make me a little uneasy. I’m not sure if others are experiencing the same thing. I’ve made so many new friends off of it and I’ve been able to help some people to and I’ve gotten help from a lot of these amazing people too! But one thing that is a little annoying and you guys can’t do anything about is the amount of men who just friend you and then start messing you really weird stuff. A lot of them you guys have blocked off the app but other than that I absolutely love this app!
