It’s super easy to use and navigate through articles and editions. The DH is the only news source on the world which gives a rip about our little town. Every citizen benefits and, so, every citizen bears a little responsibility for keeping the paper viable. Your subscription isn’t charity...in return for your support you’ll be regaled with stories that affect our lives, influence our decisions and connect us to our neighbors and and our land. It’s a great bargain. App worked fine until I renewed my subscription. Now won’t pull up readable format (ie: in newspaper form.) ### 1/5 — Fail! *2019-02-12, version 2.6.81* This app will not let me get past the Subscription Portal to actually see the Durango Herald newspaper. It will show me a long history of “available” issues, but hen I select one it just boots me back to the portal. It’s enough to make me want to cancel my subscription. I like it, but stability is a problem. It crashes at least once, often twice while reading an edition. it does boot quickly and remember your place, but it's disappointing there have been no updates to fix the stability problems.* I've been waiting for an ipad app forever, so really glad to have this. The interface is nice and a huge improvement over the previous e-edition. That said, it has crashed on me 3 out of 3 days using it and entered a weird state the second day I used it where it would cycle through opening and closing the editions window. I think it was trying to update to the current day's paper. When I turn my phone it logs me out of the page I'm on!! I love it when I move the phone it screws the app up. Could you make a better app? No way!! This app is super awesome!! ### 2/5 — One sided reporting *2025-04-10* As you are pretty much a monopoly my wish would be that you have reporters who believe in telling the truth and both sides to stories shared. Building an amazing community to only see one side of very important issues should be criminal and punishable. I am certain this will go nowhere. Perhaps a new publication reporting truth is on the horizon for Durango😉 ### 3/5 — Good, but! *2021-03-20* The eHerald app is excellent once you have accessed it. However, the frequency with which subscribers are required to log in (including those whose accounts are on autopay) is a real pain. I subscribe digitally to five different papers ranging from the New York Times to the Pagosa Springs Sun. The Herald is the only one that requires me to sign in at least once every week. This unnecessary inconvenience, based on someone’s paranoia about having a non subscriber view an edition, makes me wonder if I shouldn’t reinstate my subscription to the Denver Post as a better alternative for Colorado news for a seasonal resident. ### 3/5 — Difficult to manage *2021-01-28* Maybe it’s my fault because I haven’t taken the time to figure out how to best navigate the app, but I usually don’t finish reading it because I lose my place and don’t want to figure out where the rest of the story is. ### 4/5 — Good enough *2025-07-29* Navigation took me a while to get used to. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Works Great! *2026-07-08* I spend the winters away from Durango. I love it! ### 5/5 — Great reporting *2026-06-01* The Herald digs in to some topics that may not be on people’s radar but are important to our community. I know — that sounds like the definition of local journalism, but often local papers don’t have the reporting horsepower to take on as much as they might want to and rely too much on national feeds. And of course there’s no one better than Jerry McBride to provide great photos to help tell the stories.
