I check the app daily for articles and book reviews. The user interface is quite poor though. I click on an article and then click to go back to the article page. But the back button brings me to the home page. Also sometimes articles have white backgrounds with white text making it impossible to read. Namely articles from the Keller and Carson Center. ### 2/5 — Lacks Functionality *2021-09-22* The app is well designed and nice if you’re looking for current things. It does have one glaring problem. No search feature. Sure there is one listed but it’s only for “media” which just means any podcast or sermon. There’s no way to search previous articles or blog posts. Not user friendly. I’m not sure if that is something that can be fixed in future updates but it would be a nice feature. ### 3/5 — Listen to Reviewers! *2019-05-06* As many other reviews have mentioned, the content is wonderful however please make it an app that is more enjoyable to use! Allow the full title of the article to be visible from the home screen instead of just the first few words so that we can get a quick glimpse of the content instead of having to click into each article. Also when reading an article, the green toolbar at the top is either too sensitive or just not working correctly because it constantly slides down then disappears when scrolling. This becomes very distracting when trying to read. Would be great if the toolbar was only visible if you’re at the very top of an article. Keep up the great content! ### 3/5 — Display full titles *2019-03-30* I agree with the reviewer who suggests displaying full titles on the list of articles. It would be so much more helpful to know the full title of each article before you go to the article. There appears to be plenty of room in the title boxes for this. It is Gospel centered and very informative, however, the full title of each article needs to be shown in order for one to even know what it it about. I only wish the full titles of the articles could be read on the app. Having to open each article to read the title keeps me from using the app very often. ### 4/5 — Useful App *2016-03-02, version 4.1.0* I love having TGC so easily accessible on my iPhone. It has been a great resource to me in encouraging & building my faith. My only recommendation for the developers would be to make it so that I can see the whole title of each article as I scroll through the feed. It's a little tedious to tap on each article to find out whether I want to read it or not. ### 2/5 — Great Content, but the APP has real problems *2015-11-16, version 4.0.1* I love the TGC, but the APP just doesn't work well. The articles are not sync'd correctly. You press on the article title on the right and it brings up the wrong article text. Some work, but most don't -- and it seems that the most current articles are the ones that don't sync. I click on one and am given something completely different. Looks good, if it would work. ### 3/5 — Great but needs work. *2015-06-20, version 3.26.1* I can see this being a great resource for great and biblical articles, however when I go to an article it sends me to another completely different article, thus having to go to the main website, which I feel the app is supposed to be for. Please fix this, other than that fantastic articles and ministry. ### 3/5 — Great content but disorganized *2015-05-24* After hearing about the TGC conference in the spring of 2015 but being unable to find recordings of the presentations online after work on the days it was happening, I was excited when I saw this app on someone's iPad and downloaded it to my phone the same day. However, while there is a rich trove of recordings available (and thank you for it, TGC!), I have had to go back to the website with my browser to eventually find the recordings of the conference. Perhaps the iPad app is more organized, but the iPhone version is lacking. Tapping on "conferences" within the media area does not give you a list of conferences, just another list of audio and video files in no order that I can discern. The Alphabetical list and the Recent list do mostly seem to follow the order they claim, but without telling you the date, the speaker(s), or the topic until you click on each individually. Without a method to sort or search by topic/tag, these aren't really great organization strategies. My request: Please provide a way to find groups of messages that belong in series or focus on the same topic, at least as much as the old Desiring God app that was discontinued a year or more ago - surely that's not too much for a more modern app. ### 3/5 — Update? *2014-07-13, version 3.21.2.1* The Gospel Coalition is a great online resource but you guys need to updat the app so that your resources can be available offline! Would love to see the app being more interactive so that theologians, leaders and pastors can utilise what you have to give, for the sake of the Gospel, better. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not too good *2025-04-16* White text with a white background often appears for articles making them impossible to read. The new advertising banner frequently freezes and won’t exit out so I can read the article or I can’t click on it completely negating its presence. After reading an article it goes back to the man Home Screen and you loose your last place. ### 1/5 — If I wanted non-Christian commentary, I could just go to CNN. *2021-11-08* It’s become really hit or miss (and usually miss), depending on writer. The opinions are often identical to those of secular media sources, in which case, I could just go to them instead of TGC. ### 1/5 — Too much Marx, too little Truth. *2021-01-20* TGC has gone the way of the woke Marxist. Time to jettison the TGC APP. ### 1/5 — Sharing functions diminished *2020-08-11* There used to be an option to share the article on iOS operating systems via text. Now with the new update the only options are Facebook, Twitter, and email. ### 1/5 — Not able to download talks *2020-08-03, version 4.12.6* Lots of difficulty downloading talks. After downloading, it shows up as 0 minutes of talk. Also, if a talk is downloaded and you open to play it, the app very often crashes. Sad that it’s not possible to hear talks easily anymore because of these issues. This has been happening for months now. Please could app developers fix these problems? ### 1/5 — Content not loading *2019-05-16* I deleted the app because the sermons/podcasts weren’t playing. Sooo frustrating. Makes the app very close to useless. App is also generally buggy, seems to crash an awful lot. ### 1/5 — Great App. Needs Debugging. *2014-06-12, version 3.21.2.1* As others have mentioned in the reviews, the "Features" section in the "Latest" tab will always load in the first listed article, regardless of the selection. In addition, the "Right Now" section and "Book Review" sections are not updating their articles. However, it does appear that the contributors with regular blogs (Kevin DeYoung, Trevin Wax, etc.) are working fine. I enjoy the app and I hope it get fixed. ### 1/5 — Bad app *2013-10-04, version 3.19.2* No twitter or fb sharing. Doesn't work as update says. I use the articles to help me sort through difficult or sometimes simple theological questions I need answers for, and I usually come away with more clarity and understanding on the topics.
