The only problem is that the second part isn’t free. I paid the 2.99 only to find out the game finishes pretty much straight away with what is clearly lazy writing just thrown in after paying with oh let’s fight some barbarians for the sake of it. The repetitive battles turns to order troops is clearly there to ramp up the word count by the thousands. Even choices such as do you want to have an affair feels forced. I’m left with so many unanswered questions such as: who were the infiltrators really, did we actually agree on a defense alliance, etc etc. I also noticed far more spelling and grammar mistakes which makes it also feel like a money grab as proof reading must have been limited. I paid for it having loved the first one and the 2nd story up until paying, this has made me lose trust in paying for others books. Even a few characters from the first didn’t appear again. I got excited about the stamina stat, again disappointed that you barely use it. Also the choices same rather obvious about who would you take with you as your second, etc. I mean would you really trust a guy that heavily drinks during duty or someone that managed to get himself jumped, or a young guy with zero combat and leadership experience. ### 4/5 — Short *2019-05-25, version 1.0.4* I was not nearly as good as the first and was short but still very good ### 3/5 — Not quite satisfied *2019-02-18, version 1.0.4* I really enjoyed the first story it was very intriguing and really felt like you was involved every step of the way but the second story is good but I couldn’t play the rest due to the fact I have to pay for the full version. When the first story was for free I feel a bit disappointed and not satisfied that I have to pay with all due respect I feel cheated in a way but I hope my words and review help out. 👍👍 ### 4/5 — First is better *2018-08-20, version 1.0.4* This game is good dont get me wrong but i have to concerns. 1) i chose to be king in the first game and in this one it says i chose to be married to hannah and i lost all of my skills which resulted me sucking at combat lol 2) The main game is too short however i have not played the scenarios which could make up for it, *Side note* It could be that, in the first game it says hannah rules as queen regent before you politically take the thrown from her which can make sense in this game but it still says i chose to marry her which i did not. ### 4/5 — The Great Tournament 2 *2018-05-02, version 1.0.3* It’s a good game I’m only real complaint would be no save feature during the game. Second, I think that it is wrong to say that I am King in the first book, but then I have to vote, and I don’t end up becoming kinks so it’s like I am granted a BOON four no reason. ### 1/5 — Lazy *2020-07-11, version 1.0.4* The first was great and i felt the choices actually matter , but the boon i picked was reform to a republic and it just ignores it the only good part was when i got to lead the army ### 1/5 — Frustrating and a Chore *2019-01-31, version 1.0.4* I loved the first game. It was not perfect by any means. But to have such an immersive and rich story for free was a surprising, but welcoming, find. I can’t say the same for the second installment. I would have expected “The Great Tournament 2” to improve on the first game’s shortcomings. Like adding save points (or files) so we don’t have to start such a long story from the very beginning, tapping mindlessly to reach where we left of. This game also has numerous other problems. The game sacrifices depth for variety. There are many ways to play, yes, but many lack an extensive story. For example, playing as Hannah’s husband has a considerably shorter story than playing as a Lord in many cases. When engaging in battles, it is just frustrating to tap for around 10 minutes (I’m not kidding) in order to finish the battle. Whether you end up winning or losing, it doesn’t matter; you still have to tap through it all (unless you select something like Retreat). The Staff of Power mode is horrendous. Even in Easy mode, it was far to easy lo lose and, at this point, I haven’t even bothered to finish it because it is just so random at times to be able to kill something so simple as a wolf. Plus, I don’t want to keep tapping over and over again just *to see* if I’m able to get through that same wolf so that I can truly get to the point where I was before. Finally, the story isn’t as fleshed out as the first one, where we saw plenty of plot development and purposeful narration. This game is frustrating; feels like a chore instead of a game, and is, at many times, unpredictable. Sadly, I have to say: don’t pay for this game. If they ever do release a third installment, I hope they fix these issues and once again release something of value. ### 1/5 — Disappointed... *2019-01-25, version 1.0.4* Last year I posted a 3 star review saying I was disappointed and some of the story didn’t make sense, while that is still the case, I decided to get the full version upon seeing the different starting options, at first I was pretty impressed. But I couldn’t have been more wrong, this has to have been one of the shortest, most shallow stories I’ve read and considering what a gem the first one was, and the price, it’s even more of a disappointment. It’s clear they weren’t planning on making a second novel and it’s a real shame as it feels not a lot of effort was put into it, it seems to me to be more of a cash grab. Would not recommend this, even the new survival scenario gets dull after a few turns. It has some potential, but it’s been executed horribly. Wouldn’t recommend at all and I’m incredibly disappointed in it. ### 1/5 — Awful *2018-02-13, version 1.0.1* The first game was actually really good, it had an interesting story and a unique take on combat compared to other Choice of Games apps. But this is terrible, it’s much shorter than the original and just not even interesting. A big part of the Prince/King storyline is war with other nations and its by the far the worst part of an already bad game. The “battles” consist of selecting the “Send in the troops” option 30+ times watching a number tick down from about 2000 or more in very small increments. I’m already excited to play through again with different choices, but I’ll want to bring in a new character for that from the first game. I’ll leave a better review when I can play through fully! ### 5/5 — Played both *2021-01-19, version 1.0.4* I like the first one better and would suggest playing it before playing this one because it’s more of a ‘part 2’ sorta thing. This one is GREAT, you will get sucked into it if you like story’s, any text based games, or even mid evil stuff (which I learned a few things from this series). The creators never stopped working on it, although I am curious if they created another book for it which I really hope they do.
