* This is a long-term effort - sharks are tagged on an annual basis and we hope to gradually add more sharks to the app over time. Q: Why hasn't a shark moved in x days, weeks or months?

A: Locations only occur when a shark's dorsal fin, and thus the satellite tag, break the surface of the ocean and link to satellites in orbit. It isn't uncommon for the sharks to spend weeks underwater before coming to surface again

Q: How accurate are locations?

The longer the tag is above the water, the more accurate a location fix from satellites. Highly accurate locations are to within less than 250m while some very brief satellite fixes make locations only accurate to several kilometres which is why, at times, some shark locations may appear to be 'on the land' but it is due to lower accuracy locations, near the coast.

Some sharks appear to circumnavigate the globe between consecutive appearances!  There doesn’t seem to be any metadata to reflect the date(s) of any of the positions.  Great concept but would benefit from fixes to the above….

Most of the app map is covered with a white screen with advertisements. Then asked me to sign up to maps .

**Developer response:** Can you please e-mail a screenshot of this to innovate@thedreamfactory.nz ? We're unsure what map service you're being asked to sign up for and so far you're the only person to report having this issue.

The sponsors should only occupy a small banner along the bottom of the map, too.
