### 3/5 — Keeps crashing after last update

*2026-08-27, version 13.45*

App crashes after launch within 3 seconds. Every single time. Unusable. Cannot use the browser version on the Guardian website because when I log in it opens the app automatically - which then crashes!

### 3/5 — Crashing!

*2026-08-25, version 13.45*

Crashing after latest update!

### 3/5 — Recent versions are buggy

*2026-08-25, version 13.45*

I read or scroll through every article daily.
At the bottom of articles the most read articles list appears at the bottom with only the entry numbers, no titles. After a short delay the most read list is removed from the article.
I like the new crossword design but after a few clues the crosswords stops responding to touch - to select different words, use the back arrow to close the crossword, or the pop up menu entries.

### 3/5 — News great; the app is a mess

*2026-08-20, version 13.44*

The Guardians journalism is often great. The app however stumbles from one vision of awfulness to another.

### 2/5 — Latest update is awful

*2026-08-16, version 13.43*

Only really use the app for crosswords. Used to have a subscription but couldn’t afford to keep it; fortunately the crosswords are included with the non-subscribed app. Silly to limit the number of articles you can view when you can view them all on social media and online. But my issue is with the latest update - it’s rendered the crosswords horrible to use. The setter’s name is hidden and it’s all off-colour. Just a massive disimprovement on a feature that did not need changing.

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-08-14, version 13.43*

Beautiful

### 5/5 — Quality journalism. Best in Australia.

*2026-08-11, version 13.43*

Excellent newspaper, relevant and informative coverage . Great to be able to switch to various overseas editions for up to date political news and insights - now sadly missing in any Australian offering

### 5/5 — Only two sites I read and pay for

*2026-08-09, version 13.42*

Guardian and the NYT.

### 5/5 — Excellent news source

*2026-08-06, version 13.42*

The Guardian has been a staple of my news diet. The articles cover a wide breadth of topics often missed by other outfits. Science, politics, history, art, it’s all there and it’s the first media source I reach for in my sequence.

### 4/5 — Great everything except remembering where you are up to in an article

*2026-08-06, version 13.42*

As above – I’ve been using this app for years, and it’s pretty sleek and very easy to use. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t remember where you’re up to in Reading any particular article for very long. It would be particularly useful for things that you’ve saved – the long read, for instance – and if it came up at the place you’d last finished it, that would be really helpful, even if you’d started to read something else.

### 5/5 — Objectivity and balance at every step

*2026-08-05, version 13.42*

Not owned or funded by corporations allows the Guardian to bring least biased journalism.

### 5/5 — Great read

*2026-08-04, version 13.42*

This is the first paper I read in the morning. Great coverage of the world and excellent commentary.

### 2/5 — Sunday crosswords never open

*2026-08-02, version 13.41*

I enjoy this app’s quick crosswords but all the Sunday ones are broken. I’m sure this issue has been going for a year or more. Please fix!!

### 5/5 — Excellent journalism

*2026-08-01, version 13.41*

One of few true journalistic masters

### 5/5 — This has become my essential

*2026-08-01, version 13.41*

I’ve ditched all social media and now lean into the Guardian for any phone dopamine and I feel a lot better. Regardless of paper (Guardian, Telegraph, Times, Sun etc…) I’d recommend it

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2026-08-28, version 13.45*

The current version crashes on nearly every article for me. Sometime lasting only a few seconds.

### 1/5 — Broken Crosswords

*2026-08-26, version 13.45*

Recent update completely broke crosswords. They no longer “solve”, selecting down clues isn’t possible and the amount of times you end up writing in the middle of another word is tedious.

### 1/5 — Remember when you promised you wouldn’t have a paywall?

*2026-08-23, version 13.44*

Liars.

### 1/5 — App keeps closing

*2026-08-19, version 13.44*

As of the update 2 days ago the app won’t stay open on my iPhone 15 Pro. I’ve tried reinstalling with no success.

### 1/5 — Murderers

*2026-08-16, version 13.43*

Hounded a black man to un-alive himself

### 1/5 — Signing in.

*2026-07-29, version 13.41*

Yet again the damn app wants me to sign in. The Guardian line on this is that it wants to test reader response to being asked to sign in in. (What?).
OK, so here’s my response: it’s a bloody nuisance and a breach of contract. I pay for this subscription, so when you block my access you are in breach of contract.
Since Rusbridger left there has been a considerable decline in the quality of writing and in the impact of the journalism. Your competitors (Byline Times, for instance) are braver, more inquisitive, and just get on with delivering the journalism.

### 1/5 — App vanished

*2026-07-01, version 13.37*

I cannot delete the app as it has vanished from my screen. If I search for it in apps all it shows is “open”
How to delete the app?

### 1/5 — Broken again

*2026-06-29, version 13.36*

Once again the app stops showing any article. Just delivers a photo and a headline. I’m paying for this and I expect much better. Usual Guardian slack attitude.

### 1/5 — The final review

*2026-06-28, version 13.36*

I love you!

### 1/5 — You have to pay a subscription

*2026-06-26, version 13.36*

I used to like it but now you have to pay a subscription to access anything. Deleted.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Favorite big news source by far

*2026-08-21, version 13.44*

I live in the USA but have been reading the Guardian now for as long as I can remember. Even for USA news I appreciate it more than any other English language “newspaper” including the NYTimes.

### 5/5 — The guardian

*2026-08-21, version 13.44*

Absolutely fantastic I love it, fun reads and serious ones which helps me better understand what’s going on in the world around me. Great app usage really modern and easy to use overall fantastic 😊

### 5/5 — The Best Independent News

*2026-08-20, version 13.44*

I trust the Guardian.

### 5/5 — The most important global publication at this moment of the 21st century

*2026-08-20, version 13.44*

The finest, the fairest, the fullest. Excellent guardian of truth telling and discovery.

### 5/5 — Integrity

*2026-08-20, version 13.44*

Independent, authentic reporting so badly needed now. I also enjoy the audio feature on almost, or all, stories. It's well worth investing in.

### 5/5 — Never miss a day!

*2026-08-15, version 13.43*

Always something I’m glad I read, learned …

### 5/5 — Everything I Need

*2026-08-15, version 13.43*

The Guardian offers information and insights into events that I don't find elsewhere. I can rely on the facts, the prose is clear and concise, and there is a level of intelligence and courage in their reporting that I appreciate.

Like most newspapers, the Guardian has a hefty lifestyle section but it criticizes as well as promotes consumerism and self concern.

As an American, especially, I am glad to have access to a thoughtful, internationally informed point of view.

### 5/5 — God save the Guardian

*2026-08-14, version 13.43*

As a news geek since 1966, I can say that the Guardian is the most objective and reliable news source I have ever read.

I read them all. I also love the NYTimes, but they are slowly becoming a Democratic Party platform.

My favorite columnist is Arwa Mahdawi. She is excellent, witty and always hits the bullseye. I am an elderly, straight white guy. But I call ‘em like I see’em!

Keep it up Guardian!!

### 5/5 — Thank you.

*2026-08-14, version 13.43*

The Guardian is spun from special cloth regarding quality and perspective. Almost certain to gift me a unique insight (or two) before I finish my morning coffee.

### 5/5 — We Love the Guardian !

*2026-08-14, version 13.43*

We enjoy all the amazing content from you. Thank you for your wonderful work.
