Decided that it would be awesome to have all the photos that we missed on our big day and the day prior for rehearsal and dinner. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! I sent out the info to all my guests, though some decided not to join initially, on our event days we got over 1,200 photos and for the skeptics that decided to join after..... they were able to upload photos and others were able to view all the photos! Everyone LOVED it and many of our guests said they wished they had this app for their big day! 💏💕 ### 5/5 — Perfect app for events! *2019-07-08, version 2.0.5* This app really surprised a lot of people that participated in my events. I tested it out first at a wedding shower and the few people who used it loved it so I decided to use it at my wedding also. It turned out perfect for my wedding! Everyone that joined got to see pictures from both sides of the family and pictures that were taken of themselves that they didn’t get. I wished I promoted even more for my wedding because of all the pictures I got to look at afterwards of our families. I love this app and would recommend to anyone who has any event coming up and loves looking at pictures from so many angles!!!! ### 5/5 — Great social media free option/auto sharing optional *2019-06-24, version 2.0.5* I don’t use social media and being able to take/share and view photos without having to set up or use social media accounts what AMAZING and exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for making the night so much better by allowing us to share and view other peoples photos! Loved that you can also turn off the auto sharing mode for those that might take more risqué photos! Plus you can go back and delete some if you need!!! My favorite part has been that after my wedding people are still downloading it and it just pulls their photos from the wedding time frame so I’m still getting more pictures! However, adding guests is TEDIOUS if you don’t have them in your phone address book (I wanted to invite by email not number and those were not in my phone), and I didn’t have time to do that so I just didn’t and had resulting low participation. However, I still have lots of GREAT photos from the 15 people who did use it (I will say it’s easy for people download and manually add your event), and as I said I love that I can add more people even after the wedding. Clunky guest input the only reason for 4 stars ### 5/5 — Could use a filter option though *2019-05-06, version 2.0.5* I love that my guests could share pics immediately or select some to add later but whatever they chose or when they were uploaded, all pictures show up in chronological order from when they were taken not uploaded) I understand that some may not like the auto share feature but it was easy enough to toggle when I didn't have want to share just yet. Not a big deal to me. The only suggestion I have would be a filter option so you could take a look at pictures from a specific person. Love it so freaking much ### 4/5 — Very easy to use app *2019-04-01, version 2.0.5* We used this for our wedding and everything worked beautifully and would have given 5 stars except it would have been helpful if they showed me in advance what the text that went out to invite friends and family was going to look like. I had indicated us as “The Bride” and “The Groom” and the text that went out to everyone said “The and The invite you...” I had to send a separate text to explain. My fault for thinking I was being cute! I always love when apps show me in advance what something is going to look like before it goes out, so you can make a change if necessary. After that snafu everything worked lovely, in fact our guests loved the fact that they got to see each others photos too! Great way to share for whatever event you have. ### 5/5 — Great app for weddings and more! *2019-03-24, version 2.0.5* My daughter used this for her wedding and ended up with well over 1000 photos to choose from. It really only takes a couple of minutes for someone to set up on their phone and then as long as they choose the auto load option they don’t have to do anything else. Since you can set everything up beforehand I personally felt it was much easier than the usual upload and hashtag mess on social media you have to do at weddings. However, we were able to easily show some of the older less tech savvy family members how to install the app and upload their photos the next day at brunch. They loved being able to view all their photos among the ones taken by other guests. My daughter especially loved that the photos were shown in a timeline format so she was able to see what her groom and others were doing while she was in the bridal suite and it makes it a very nice way to see how the entire day progressed from the preparations to the ceremony, reception and then the after party. She was so happy with the app that she used it again during her honeymoon. She had used a honeymoon fund so friends and family were able to easily see photos of the couple enjoying excursions that had been purchased as wedding gifts. I will definitely be using this app for other events, parties, family vacations, etc! ### 5/5 — 10/10 Recommend !! *2019-03-23, version 2.0.5* I originally downloaded The Guest when it was Veri, since it was recommended to me by the Knot app that I’m using to plan my wedding. Now that it’s free, I decided to give it a go and try it for my dress shopping. I invited my entire bridal party and MIL to use it and it was amazing!! I know how photos for the entire experience (I went to Kleinfeld's which I’ve been dreaming about since a teen) and they were so easy to upload and save. The only critique would be for the app to ask who is logging into the event if they want to auto share, since every picture you take uploads unless you turn it off! Best idea ever!! ### 5/5 — Perfect Photo Sharing App! *2019-03-22, version 2.0.5* I used it for a group of 19 people for an international trip to Israel. We were gone for 10 days. Since an event can only last as long as a week, I made two events to split the time. It worked out perfectly! Most of us had our phones in airplane mode during the tour day until we returned to WiFi at our hotel in the evening. Every photo we took while we didn’t have service uploaded when our WiFi was restored. As a result, all 2,500 photos were uploaded easily and our group is super happy to have a place where they can share them with each other without hassle!! ### 5/5 — Amazing App *2019-02-23, version 2.0.5* I used it for pre wedding photos and wedding photos. I ended up having 60 photos for pre wedding event and 380 plus videos for wedding. It was amazing, it got pictures from every angle and allowed you to easily share videos. Also, the upload function. A lot of people didn’t download until after the wedding and it selected all photos and videos during that time and you could remove any that you didn’t want to upload. Lastly, the download feature was very easy by selecting download all pictures and videos. ### 5/5 — Never missed a moment *2019-02-12, version 2.0.5* I love this app. I also love the fact that it is now free. I have use the guest for my two bridal showers and it has been great. I received over 300 photos from both events. I started with inviting a small close group of friends first, the. Once I was able to show others how it worked and shares more people became comfortable with downloading it. I love that I can be free to move about and talk to guest but still get great pictures from every moment of the event. I plan on using this app for my the rest of my upcoming events including my big wedding day. I plan to display a big sign for everyone to see as they arrive with instructions on how to download the app and how to turn on and off auto share. I have had great pictures with just a small group so far and I can not wait to She the outcome of a large group of participants. I would definitely recommend for any event that you want to capture all the moments. ### 4/5 — More Pictures Than I Bargained For *2019-01-21, version 2.0.5* First of all, I think this is a really cool app, I have now used it for 3 events, I was the administrator for the most recent one. I got classmates to sign up for it, and then told them that it would only share their photos from the time span of the event. No worries! You can imagine my horror when I opened the app 24 hours after the event had ended to find pictures of sunsets, the beach, the airport and the moon...up to 24 hours after the event ended!!!! So maybe The Guest can explain that one to us all. I tried to find some other place to ask them about this, but couldn’t find any other avenue. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2022-07-30, version 2.14.0* This app has so much potential but falls so short! First off, there is no way to download multiple pictures. You have to tap the picture to open it. Then tap download. Then tap back. Then tap the next picture. Repeat. Um, when I have thousands of pictures I want, this is pure stupid. There is no website either to help with this process. So then I decided I will get my wedding pictures air dropped the day after from my parents. Well the stupid app then took all those pictures that my mom air dropped to me and uploaded them under my name and just duplicated hundreds of pictures! And again, no way to bill delete! Very disappointed. Will be wasting a full day cleaning up this mess now collecting pictures one by one! ### 1/5 — Intrusive, complicated, dysfunctional *2022-05-29, version 2.13.0* First of all this is obvy a temporary app, I shouldn’t have to give away all my private contact info AND post a photo of myself to 100 people I don’t know just to dump 3 wedding pics into a central hub. However I did all 17 verification steps for my friend but then I couldn't even upload my wedding pics. No option to download more pics after you post your own photo. Why can’t I choose more pics after the first one??!! So I deleted my “account” (I’m just a guest, why do I need an ACCOUNT) and now I can’t get back in. I will be texting the 3 wedding pics directly to my friend mmmkay? I see that it’s working well for everyone else tho, I’m glad. Now I’m off to unsubscribe from the incessant emails… ### 1/5 — They sell your information, so not worth the convenience! *2022-03-30, version 2.13.0* I signed up for this app because my friend is getting married and didn’t want to use a photographer, so she found this app instead. And while the concept of this app is great, the actuality of this app is not. They sell your information to third parties (which I read in other reviews of this app). But I experienced it myself after downloading and signing up for the app. I got a bunch of weird spam text messages about selling dementia and dermatitis products (neither of which I have nor looked into). If you really need to make a buck off of people to run this service, just make it for purchase for $1-2 instead of selling information to make it free. The only reason I downloaded it is for my friends wedding and I fully intend to delete it after it is over! ### 1/5 — Auto sharing is a nightmare - won’t be using this for my wedding *2019-07-02, version 2.0.5* Auto-Share should NOT be automatically on. It should be automatically off and you choose to put it on! Here is why...In the past 3 days 2 people very close to me experienced a nightmare using this app. The first situation is when a very personal video was uploaded to the wedding website for all to watch. Without the users consent. Being new to the app they didn’t know that autosharing was on right when it was downloaded/opened. The second nightmare was on 6/30 before she joined the group (but was already invited and had the app previously) autoshare grabbed all her pictures dating to middle of June! (Two weeks prior to when it was supposed to start and the sharing started 6/30 @ 4:15pm- I set it up myself after the event on 6/30) so why would it pull her pictures from 6/14 without her consent? I have since deleted the app and have warned everyone using it that it will embarrass you if you have any embarrassing or just personal photos of yourself on your phone. All because autoshare chooses to upload your photos, yes, without your consent! TAKE OFF AUTOSHARING- LET USERS CONSENT TO IT SO THEY DONT END UP EMBARRASSED. ### 1/5 — Bad data handling - unethical marketing *2018-04-18, version 1.5.0* I signed up for this service for my wedding. They sent an email to guests posing as me and my fiance. They could have sent the email as Veri, instead they created a fake alias and named it after me and my fiance, wrote an email posing as us, and even signed off the email as us. I had no idea they would do this nor did they explicitly ask for permission to pose as me. I wrote in to complain and they justified this style of marketing because they said it's more effective. Of course impersonation is effective. It doesn't mean you should do it. I then asked to have my account and all related data deleted. I'm now almost 10 days later and they still have been unable to help me delete my account. If you want to trust a company with you and your guests photos who would pretend to be you and can't give you a way to cancel or delete your account, enter at your own risk. I wish I had never signed up for this. I hope the Knot does an IT security review of this company's practices. It's a bad reflection on their overall brand. ### 2/5 — Unreliable and unwieldy *2021-02-22, version 2.11.1* Do not rely on this app for your wedding photos! About half of the group of 15 people gathered for my sister’s wedding struggled to upload photos and needed to uninstall/reinstall more than one time. It never worked properly for me and some of my fave pics never uploaded for my sister to see on the app. Several unrelated photos auto uploaded while meaningful photos never made it and there’s no logic to it. When I try to upload them, the app says they’re posted - but no one can see them. My photos did not upload until after the event had already ended. 2 stars because it’s a nice idea - it just doesn’t work as hoped or intended. Give yourself and your guests a break; there’s enough stress at a wedding without adding figuring this out into the mix. ### 2/5 — Loved this idea but..... *2018-11-13, version 2.0.5* Loved the idea of this app, and while everyone’s photos auto-uploaded, nobodies video did, including the videos of our vows😓. It’s been a big pain to reach out to all of my guests after the fact to ask if they can try to manually upload any videos they took. They get error messages saying the videos are already uploaded when they are not. And of those videos that guests have tried to manually upload, the few that did upload, the full length/full resolution videos still won’t upload. We did not hire a professional photographer/videographer so this is kind of crushing, and it’s been upsetting and stressful for me the past 2 days, post wedding, trying to troubleshoot, contact support, and my guests in attempt to collect these videos before they delete them. ### 4/5 — Best part of my Covid wedding *2020-07-18, version 2.07.0* We had 120+ guests scheduled to attend our July 2020 wedding before the virus made it impossible for many. Thanks to The Guest, not only did we have everyone who was able to attend upload their pictures for us, but with the help of a live stream, we were able to invite hundreds of guests from all over the world to join us. We had family and friends wear purple and take photos of themselves as they watched our special moments. My only complaint is that the app doesn’t work in Europe (which we knew beforehand)! Luckily, we had a group chat with all of my European friends and some in South America so that those in SA could upload the Europeans’ photos. ### 4/5 — Great app for our wedding! *2019-12-24, version 2.0.5* Great concept for getting photos during our wedding! One big feature request that I need to give the full 5-stars is up-voting photos! Naturally some photos are awesome and others are a blurry mess. The only way to filter note is by contributor. This would be huge to keep everyone from needing to go through every photo to choose the keepers. Good ones would naturally float to the top! Another feature idea addresses adding contributors: in the case where someone has not downloaded the app for the event, but afterward download it to view photos - pseudo-force access to post photos before they can view the entire library. You can use the time stamps from the photo library to decide which should be posted (“pseudo”, because obviously they would be able to cherry-pick those which should not be uploaded) this works to minimize the moochers and increase contributor count. ### 4/5 — This app is awesome! Couple minor cons *2019-12-07, version 2.0.5* The auto share tool is great but a lot of people turned the feature off so they didn’t accidentally upload something they didn’t want shared 🙃 I had 95 people attending and maybe 10 shared photos but I received about 780 photos/videos from those that shared! Some great pictures that my photographer (who was awesome but couldn’t be everywhere at once) didn’t get! I’d say the two cons are the autoshare feature putting guests off, and that once everyone uploads photos you can only download them through your phone and not a desktop. I spent HOURS downloading photos onto a separate device because the 780photos/videos took up 4GB of space on my already full phone. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Love it but will miss it when fully shuts down! *2022-12-26, version 2.14.0* This has been my go to app for sharing our vacation photos. I got to use it when a coworker set it up for her wedding several years ago and since then it was a game changer! It makes creating an event easy and then auto sharing your group’s photos during that time. Then at the end you are able to easily import the groups photos to your iCloud library. There is no other app or experience out there that is comparable or does it as good as this! Apple photos is nowhere near as easy to create a group share without feeling like I have to jump through hoops. It is a sad day that the so is shutting down and your can’t create any more events (unless it was already placed before the 25 Oct deadline). I would have gladly paid per event for this service it was that good. Thanks for all the great memories stirred by the app!!!!!! ### 5/5 — What an amazing app *2022-11-14, version 2.14.0* This app was absolutely stunning. I’m so sad that it’s retiring. This app showed all of the angles of how our guests seen our wedding. They also had fun with it as well and caught some things other didn’t. It definitely was a staple of my husband and I’s wedding. I would have paid for a subscription had it cost it was so amazing but it was absolutely free and played a key part into my husbands and my future. Thank you to all the app developers. This app created memories my husband and I would have never gotten had you not developed this app. ❤️ ### 5/5 — Saved the Day! *2022-07-07, version 2.14.0* I originally downloaded the app because I liked the idea of disposable cameras at the reception but wasn’t a fan of the price of said disposable cameras. We live in a world immersed in technology so I thought using this app would be a much better, and affordable, option. It turned out really nice because I also used the app for my 3 bridal showers and it was a huge success at each shower and the reception. However, little did I know that this app would end up saving out wedding. I hired a photographer, who had good reviews, to do both the engagement pictures and wedding day pictures. Our engagement pictures were spectacular so I felt confident that our wedding pictures would be the same way. I was devastatingly wrong. About 85% of our pictures are horrific, nothing worth display or bragging about. To say my heart was broken is an understatement. Insert The Guest app (and awesome iPhone cameras)! Some of our wedding guest took beautiful pictures, ones worthy of displaying in our home. Had I not offered this to our guests, we would be left with about 15 pictures to show our family and friends. So THANK YOU to the creators of this app for helping us capture beautiful and unforgettable moments of our most precious day! ### 5/5 — Must Have App! *2021-09-21, version 2.12.5* I have used this app over the last 2 1/2 years for every event in my life from my bridal shower to my bachelorette party, wedding, and baby shower. It was most amazing for the wedding because we got to look at pictures of our ceremony during the cocktail hour and then look at the pictures from the whole day while we were on our honeymoon waiting for the professional ones. Not everyone takes pictures, but people love having access to all the pictures everyone took right away. Ultimate in instant gratification! What a great way to see everyone’s pictures! You were able to save others photos who were able to get different angles of the ceremony!! Just had to be careful what you shared before the ceremony, but were able to turn auto share off until the appropriate time for sharing these photos. Just how great it was!!!! ### 5/5 — Easy, fun, and SO special *2019-11-05, version 2.0.5* Tested it out at our jack and Jill and decided to use it for our wedding. Our guests LOVED it. The best part was seeing the photos all together and seeing different angles of the same moments from all our guests perspectives. No looking for albums on Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc. they're all time stamped and seeing who uploaded each photo was so special. It's a LOT to go through but oh so very fun! We even set up an iPad for our photo booth and turned on the guest for those photos to be uploaded. I would recommend this to everyone. At first most people didn’t sign in, but once they got there & saw what it did - everyone wanted to join in & see each other’s pictures. We used it again for the wedding & used the web address provided on cards on the tables to get folks to sign up. Most everyone that signed in did so at the wedding!! More than half of our 60 guests joined the app & we received over 700 pictures.. This app is amazing!!! I will continue to use it for other events & will recommend to my friends & family.. ### 5/5 — Best way to collect photos *2019-09-10, version 2.0.5* Seriously the best way to collect photos from your guests!! I’m obsessed! We still had a photographer and videographer but this gave me access to raw videos and photos of the most memorable moments! It’s like google file sharing but for your guests!! Highly recommend! Only downfall is the invite process and getting the word out can be a bit cumbersome. However, totally worth it. And can be a bit confusing for your guests if you have multiple events (which you may want if you want to keep the bride private until the start of the ceremony). The only thing I was unprepared for was the choice to let pics go on automatically or not, so the time we started was earlier than the event just to be safe. Thankfully I and most of my guests chose not, so we didn’t get a bunch of pics we didn’t need. But I think the app should force a start of either on location or at event start time to avoid this and lose the automatic upload option because you get way too many attempts at the same pic. Let users upload manually only. ### 5/5 — Best app for events ever!! *2019-07-23, version 2.0.5* Love love love this app. So user friendly that even my 73 yrold father in law used it with no issues at our wedding. All you have to do is download and start taking pictures it’s that easy. You can send out a link for all your guest to download. We used it for the wedding and the bachelorette party! I have photos and videos from both that I would not have with just a regular photographer. Our photographer I am sure did an amazing job but we have to wait about a month on photos. With Veri I got photos and videos to look at that night/ the following day. Would recommend to everyone getting married or having a special event with a lot of people!
