Don’t depend on the developers to make any type of change to the game tho. Empty promises of a long overdue overhaul. It’s a great game but the developers have dramatically effected the player base. The game can get quite frustrating sometimes and quick assumptions can be made like those of the negative reviews on here due to that. TIB is one of my favorite games. It really is about teamwork in the long run and I have made some great friends on here in the years I've played. The community of TIB is magnetic. It really puts the game together. I love it. I'd suggest it to anyone. Give it a try! There is strategy and it keeps you on your toes. DD1226 ### 1/5 — Doomed unless fixed *2020-11-16, version 1.5.3* TIB is really fun and filled with some great people. Good premise and really like the initial setup. However, the pvp based nature of the game favors long time veterans to an extent that makes it almost unplayable as a group of 20 veterans can dictate your experience. It is economically broken, leveling is slow and dull, and the micro transactions don’t do enough to matter other than offset massive in-game economic losses from gear being destroyed. Lack of updates is causing the game to slowly move into two alliance factions that dictate how players play, otherwise you will be hunted to the point of permanent ruin. -the game is not feasible unless you join a Corp (guild) -enemy alliances can make it economically impossible to grow. -damage done to gear at death can financially ruin players -your raid group can be attacked mid raid, causing failure -obtaining gear is mostly price controlled by veteran players -the map is too small for the amount of pvp that occurs -no cap on levels means there are level 300 players -farming to replenish losses is horribly boring and super slow There are good things still and I did have fun, but in an mmo without a level cap that is pvp all the time...eventually it is doomed to prevent new players from having the rush of reaching the top. It either needs non-pvp areas to level, redistribution of players across servers based on their level, or at least something to make it worth the thousands of hours needed to obtain a fully geared setup. TIB is like a great indie game that was forgotten and is just ruled by those who have played it the most hours. ### 1/5 — Mythra admin will talk smack in universe about you! *2020-05-21, version 1.5.3* The one time I contacted an admin for something they offer, the one admin Mythra went psycho! Apparently has a history of it. She will also ban lists when she is angry for your entire Corp—seems odd, childish, and so unprofessional. Not something worth spending your free time on, unless you enjoy being degraded by a power hungry mod that is a total loose cannon. 1) Insulted me in private chat, calling me dumb. Just keep on reading, it gets better!! 2) Who talks smack about an interaction in universe?? 3) Mythra, thinks she did good and commented how she should hold herself to a higher standard—Yet, is talking smack about me the entire time to the universe chat! That REALLY disgusted me! 4) Who punishes the entire Corp. for asking an admin a question. 5) I left the game at the point the universe chat was giving Mythra advice to block my account for a week. 6) Got a gut feeling to login in check. My alliance kicked me out, because Mythra told them they would be blocked from invasions and alt lists—ultimate power thirsty move!! Considering I never asked for for a single free item from the Corp it alliance the entire time I was there! Interesting and oh so one sided. 7) Mythra continues being super petty; contacts all the leaders and sends them cherry picked screenshots. Good times! If that’s your scene, enjoy! If you find this appalling like I did; they lost me as a player, and I’m taking my friends with me. Getting called dumb and watching this power trip is just quite unbelievable!! The lengths she went through, wow! Not a bad game concept, but that admin doing what they did and being allowed to is—sickening! Since all the email inquiries go to said Mythra, informing anyone that this is going on—futile. ### 1/5 — Bad *2019-09-19, version 1.5.3* Bad game is bad. It’s also dead, the “expansion” will never come out and the moderator Mythra abuses their mod abilities and god mode when playing the game. Mythra, get a life, you pathetic man-child. ### 1/5 — Beware the players *2019-01-07, version 1.5.3* Great concept, seemed really cool when I logged in, and although very hard to figure out up front, lots of interesting potential to work towards. Totally pvp based so if you’re a low key casual player, not the game for you. Also, player population seems highly segmented into three old alliances that seem equally desperate for new recruits as they are suspicious of outsiders! I was recruited immediately upon first login, then several confusing sessions later summarily cast adrift because people became convinced that I was an “alt” aka spy for another alliance. Not a fun intro to the game for a new player! Moderators were kind but busy, obviously not much they can do about in-game politics. Not how I prefer to spend my leisure time! ### 1/5 — Sooo bad ripoff *2018-07-09, version 1.5.3* Log off for awhile and everything you worked or spent on is gone ### 1/5 — This game went downhill. *2016-02-26, version 1.3.3* It used to be a great game. But it has fatal flaws that are slowly making this game worse and worse... The developers have gotten greedy and have made obtaining maxed out gear cost literally THOUSANDS of dollars... Thousands of dollars just to change a few variables on their server... The game is dominated by egotistical losers who have nothing to do but give every penny they earn to the developers, so that they can dominate in their little fantasy land. Being able to "grind" to get better is just an illusion, you're just cannon fodder for those that have forked out over $10,000 for their gear. The only way this game will get better is if the developers remove all the pay to win crap and substitute it with a subscription. With a free to play option, perhaps free to play until level 20, then you can't progress in level. And they should work on improving the strategy of the game, instead of making it completely gear oriented. If the game progresses I may come back, I spent over $700 on the game until I realized what kind of crap was going down. Thankfully I was able to sell my account to another player, although I heard they found out and deleted the account. ### 1/5 — Horribly flawed *2016-01-16, version 1.3.3* This game has great promise but it horribly fatally flawed. The game requires hours of barely productive grinding once you reach level 15 in order to continue to grown. When you attempt to work your way through those levels other players of much higher rank are allowed to kill you, setting you back anything you gained. Unfortunately, the game is populated by scores of such low life scum that are only too happy to accomplish nothing meaningful other than to ruin your attempt to reach a level where you could engage them. Do you like farming for ten hours to get a % of a level? When this gets into the 100’s easy? Do you like constantly being harassed in PVP trying to get those tiny, tiny %s? Do you like having literally nothing else to do? Youll like it here. If you dont want a grindfest so slow it’d put the chinese to shame coupled with contstant incessant pvp and a pay-to-win economy stay away. The engine and core concept are great but literally nothing is done with them except make a pvp arena. ### 3/5 — Good Game, but ruled by multiboxing. *2019-10-25, version 1.5.3* This game has very good potential and the developers and moderators are often on and listening to the player base. It is mostly pvp focused, but it is a very relaxed game. The players are also nice, but in order to have any kind of power you need to multibox at least 3 accounts. If you are a solo player and only can play from one account you will probably have a very hard grind. There’s a bit of the farming and leveling in the game, mixing of gear items to improve attack/defense as well as the fun of the hunt. Largely though it has a huge social dynamic that makes it great. There are new players and seasoned players and the support available for players across that range is phenomenal. I had left for a few years due to personal reasons, but am now back and loving it. And I’ve been welcomed back as though I never left to destroy aliens and build up my ship! Give it a try and put some time in. The people in this game will leave their mark on you and you come out of it a better person. This game garners the labels most would avoid, boring, dead, toxic. I disagree with every single one. For the past decade the game has thrived and people can be some of the kindest (and most interesting lol) that you’ll ever meet. I dearly love the game and have been around only 4 years. If you haven’t tried this game, try it. You find a good Corp you’ll be hooked within hours. The game takes time, it’s why we love it, your hard work is rewarded in a way that is almost better than any game on the market. There’s always the option to spend $$$ to improve your gear but it doesn’t do much for you until you level and put the work in. It is the ideal hardcore game.
