I expect the same could be said for Cork and Galway ### 5/5 — Intelligent informing *2023-11-24* For over 60 years I have turned to the Irish Times to check on the realities of life. Politics, finance, current affairs over the decades, national and international saw me combing the pages for some rationale in hard times. Could the numbers be printed in the squares in solution as in original puzzle. As I am 83 it would make it it easier to find word especially those downward. Also I would love to be able to fill it in online!! Could that be possible before???. I was a missionary in Africa and would appreciate more African and Asian news. WELL DONE. ### 5/5 — IT review *2021-12-20* I judge the IT to be balanced and informative with good domestic and international affairs coverage. I am also a subscriber to the FT and I think that the contributions to the IT by FT journalists are well chosen. One of the attributes of the IT that I most appreciate is its avoidance of shallow populism and sensationalism. Keep it up! Morgan Crowe. ### 5/5 — My Irish Times *2021-07-22* First thing, the web. All the latest news, and what might have happened overnight. Ever since I awoke to learn that John Lennon had been shot, I realized that the world does stop when I go to bed.! I then go to the digital edition, and read the paper as I would in Ireland, but with less page-turning and ink on my fingers… I love the Property on Thursday……the houses, the hidden gems..! Saturday is also great with the Magazine and other supplements. I am an avid affecionado of the Crossward…( Simplex…life is complicated enough…), but I find the times on the leaderboard hilarious! The 1 minute 30 seconds only apply to the speed at which the nominees can type. We didn’t come down in the last shower..!! I have had a good few honest 5/10 minutes results…and can hold my head high… All in all, I am very happy with the Irish Times, and their coverage of world events is on the ball. If an important event happens in France, it is on the website in no-time. I live in France, and Lara Marlowe is very observant. So, that’s my review.. Looking forward to a year’s free subscription for my comments… Sorry, but maybe due to the fact that I live in Lourdes makes me believe in miracles…. Anyway, carry on, Audrey Kasselis ### 5/5 — Good Value *2021-07-10* I usually get the weekend paper… it gives me a lovely long read on the weekend! ### 5/5 — One of the world’s great papers *2021-06-26* OK, a bit of Irish bias creeping in there, but when you consider many of the alternatives the Irish Times stands out as one of the best for the quality of its journalism, its even handed approach to stories, its balance, its willingness to challenge orthodoxies but also to give voice to those who support them, its often fresh and sometimes quirky take on domestic and international stories and a mixture of very serious articles that make you think as well as lovely feel-good stories that touch at the heart strings. Everything you could want in a newspaper. The supplements are of exceptionally high quality as well. Last word for the opinion formers - when you have the likes of Fintan O’Toole, Chris Johns, David McWilliams, Kathy Sheridan, Una Mullally, to name but a few but honorable mention of the many others, you know you are onto a winner. ### 5/5 — Great newspaper *2021-06-09* The Irish Times is great for news but it excels in its opinion pieces. Fintan O’Toole is a superb columnist, as is Conor Pope and Roisin Ingle. My first read is Frank McNally’s Irishman’s Diary, his mastery of the eccentric, eclective and Irish interest is unrivalled. If I have one complaint on the upper right hand Corner page one you would boast of having “so many ABC readers”as I am definitely Z or as Americans say zee it always was the next day reading “my paper before I got over it Ha Ha” keep up good work a good paper a flame for democracy thank you Séamus (Jim) Doherty ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Epaper app *2022-08-04* Hopeless app since the new makeover, although Irish times claimed the Epaper app had not changed. Invariably after a few days have to either reboot my iPad or reinstall the app. I have the latest iPad software. I previously had to move off my Samsung tablet because of a change in the app. I much preferred the paper edition and was a reluctant subscriber to the digital version when Irish times abandoned the print version in the Uk. My patience is running out. ### 1/5 — Not happy *2022-03-24* I signed up for a promotion where I pay $12 to be able to read the headlines of The Irish Times. I have contacted them twice complaining that I am unable to open any articles. I have been told that for $18 I would be able to access the epaper. I asked then what I was getting for my $12 subscription and again they just promoted the upgrade to $18. I clearly missed the fine print somewhere. This is quite a ripoff. ### 1/5 — Continues to frustrate *2014-04-30* Is anyone else having problems with this app. It failed to auto renew my subscription and when I did it by phone I was told I could get today's edition but this has not proved to be the case. The app won't let me login, keeps returning an error. I feel like I'm in a doom loop and am now in the process of reloading the app to see if that works. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work *2014-01-11* I downloaded this App a number of weeks ago - it worked for a short period but now I am unable to purchase singe copies of the paper - been in touch with the Help Desk but got very poor response. ### 2/5 — Could do better…. *2025-04-26, version 5.33.0* Guys, The epaper to an expat is wonderful but… 1. Formats become stale, repetitive for too many years, stale out of date commentators who need recycling 2. Weekend review is jaded and needs a substantial overhaul 3. The business section is boring, lacks the type of analysis given to say the political section 4. In depth analysis, big read type content is lacking The e paper technology is clunky, crashes regularity with difficulty getting through to get it fixed, get feedback when one complains to prevent reoccurrence. You’re doing a great job but some spring cleaning required as your competition is getting better, your readers more demanding. Mark ### 2/5 — Epaper *2025-03-11* Very disappointed. Sometimes upgrading the device software works. Other times I have to delete and reinstall the app. Problem is mainly on iPads. ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2024-04-26* I am a regular reader of the Irish Times. It is an excellent newspaper. I read it on my iPad Mini and use the epaper version. I find the App frustratingly glitchy - at least once a week the latest edition of the paper will not open and the only workaround is to delete and then re-load the App. I have reported this to the paper on a number if occasions but have never received any response beyond an acknowledgement. I have other newspaper Apps and mist work consistently better than the Irish Times App. Could do better! ### 3/5 — James sheridan *2021-12-20* Quality of journalism I very good: on line service (in US at least) is poor with frequent requests to log in etc despite continued subscription over two years. ### 3/5 — Good but... *2019-10-07* I really enjoy reading the paper like this as it allows me to skim for exactly what interests me in any given week. I would like the ability to bookmark the articles in this version though. In our mothers’ wombs, were we conscious of the miracles that were unfolding all around us, protecting us from a harsh outside environment until we were ready and able to breathe and think for ourselves? Back then, time created a bridge of hope between our cocooned world and the real world, soon to open a passage to birth new horizons of life and hope. Today, we still remain within a caul of unknowing. The spoken and written word hangs in the balance as each new day dawns and we weigh up all utterances, aspirations, threats and hopes to give colour to our thoughts and energy to our actions. Good or bad, kind or wicked, gentle or aggressive, peace or conflict, true or false? Who knows! Thankfully, the Irish Times offers us an umbilical cord to truth in the news as a daily beacon of hope, a trusted interlocutor that shines a light in an otherwise darkening dawn. Let us walk towards the light as words are made flesh. ### 5/5 — My best pal. *2025-04-24* The ePaper version is my best travelling companion. It keeps me fully informed with well-composed articles and well-informed stories no matter where I am in my travels. (The only exception is the Saturday edition which I try to acquire in “hard copy”, as it is a collector’s item and is probably the best newspaper in the whole wide world). It covers the whole swathe of topics from an international and domestic perspective and it’s always thought provoking and trusted commentary. In a social media world gone completely crazy, I love my daily fix of news, reviews, opinions and would be bereft without it. Thank you to all who write for this paper on a daily basis!
