JUSTUS is the app to help keep you safe and alive by alerting your contacts and community of your emergency. Imagine red lights flashing behind you, or heavy footsteps approaching towards you, or any situation that just doesn’t feel right. Your heart is pounding, your mind is racing but at the command of your voice or push of a button, help is on the way. With the Just Us app, you just need one touch to take control of the situation and help keep yourself safe. Just Us uses hands-free, voice command technology to activate alerts, initiate live-stream video and send the user’s GPS location to five designated contacts. Check In: Assures contacts the user is safe with an updated pinned location. Free alerts are available via text messages to include a user’s pinned location. JUST US Heads Up: Activate Live-Stream and alerts contact user is being pulled over by police JUST US Help: Alerts contacts, as well as, nearby users with GPS location and live video in real time, that concerns are heightened. $4.99 monthly or $49.99 annual subscription required to live-stream video in real time. As a Black parent and grandparent I can think of few better resources; in fact, thanks to you, Just Us is at the top of my gift-giving list this year. You clearly understand what it’s like for us to worry about our family and friends; to worry about ourselves when driving, walking/running in our own neighborhoods, cooking out, and even “birding” in public parks. It would be nice to have an option for $1-2/mo to just be a passive user of the app who gets alerted if help is needed. Being a single woman that lives alone, it helps me check in with my love ones. It also helps my sister and I have a piece of mind when my twin nephews are not with us. I recommend this for everyone! ### 3/5 — Incredible? *2020-12-01* I had no need so far to use this app do I cannot rate it in that aspect but there are times that I touch this app accidentally while swiping through my phone and the app opens right away but the annoying part is that you cannot close the app unless you turn off your phone than restart it back . So far this app is nuisance that drains your battery unless you are in a position that you can afford to turn off the phone to be able to close the app. also what I do not understand is the rest of the reviews on this app that are so positive but no one has use the app actually🤷‍♀️ **Developer response:** The app was created for those who, unfortunately, do need to use it because they are disproportionately stopped, searched, arrested, shot and even killed by police at an alarmingly higher rate than others. We strongly recommend users allow the app to have 'all the time' access to features, such as their camera and microphone, in the event of an emergency. We are not finding this to cause significant battery drainage. As for the other reviews, maybe just knowing you can notify your designated contacts, along with nearby users, in a moments notice provides a level of comfort and peace that they may have never had.
