I mean it’s purpose is protecting Black people so why are u charging for this app. **Developer response:** The app is free to download which provides geo-tracking and hands-free operations. We wish the livestream feature could also be free, but unfortunately it's not free to us. We're a nonprofit organization hoping to provide a tool to help get our loved ones home safe. ### 3/5 — Incredible? *2020-12-01* I had no need so far to use this app do I cannot rate it in that aspect but there are times that I touch this app accidentally while swiping through my phone and the app opens right away but the annoying part is that you cannot close the app unless you turn off your phone than restart it back . So far this app is nuisance that drains your battery unless you are in a position that you can afford to turn off the phone to be able to close the app. also what I do not understand is the rest of the reviews on this app that are so positive but no one has use the app actually🤷‍♀️ **Developer response:** The app was created for those who, unfortunately, do need to use it because they are disproportionately stopped, searched, arrested, shot and even killed by police at an alarmingly higher rate than others. We strongly recommend users allow the app to have 'all the time' access to features, such as their camera and microphone, in the event of an emergency. We are not finding this to cause significant battery drainage. As for the other reviews, maybe just knowing you can notify your designated contacts, along with nearby users, in a moments notice provides a level of comfort and peace that they may have never had. Also, we are thankful to those who have not had to used it (yet). ### 5/5 — Gratitude *2021-05-27* Friends, I am so grateful to you for creating this app. I learned about it today and I’m “putting it in blast” in all of my networks, personal and professional. As a Black parent and grandparent I can think of few better resources; in fact, thanks to you, Just Us is at the top of my gift-giving list this year. You clearly understand what it’s like for us to worry about our family and friends; to worry about ourselves when driving, walking/running in our own neighborhoods, cooking out, and even “birding” in public parks. Thank you, and may you be blessed for this contribution. And $49/yr is a small piece to pay for the peace of mind your nonprofit is bringing to our world. ### 5/5 — Effective call to action *2021-04-03* Amazing idea for an app. Idea: There a free or inexpensive option for people like me (Caucasian) who want to be accessible to anyone within radius in trouble, but who sadly don’t require these same services. It would be nice to have an option for $1-2/mo to just be a passive user of the app who gets alerted if help is needed. I do want to send some cash and the web site isn’t set up for it so doing an in app subscription. Being a single woman that lives alone, it helps me check in with my love ones. It also helps my sister and I have a piece of mind when my twin nephews are not with us.
