## What is The Keeping?

Some things you finish stay with you. A book that rearranged something. A film you still think about. An episode you wanted to tell someone about. The Keeping is a private place to write down what they meant to you — and find them again years later.

It holds everything you read, watch, and hear in one quiet archive: books, films, TV, and podcasts, side by side. No feed. No followers. No streaks to keep. Nothing to perform. Just your own words, kept.

Most apps are built to help you decide what's next. This one is built for what already happened — the part worth remembering.

WRITE WHAT YOU THOUGHT
Log a title in seconds, then say as much or as little as you want about it. Your reflection is the point here, not an afterthought — and it's always free. A line, a paragraph, or nothing at all. Your archive looks finished either way.

FOUR KINDS OF MEDIA, ONE ARCHIVE
Books, films, TV, and podcasts live together. Podcasts especially — the thing no other journal does well. A great episode is worth remembering too.

FIND IT AGAIN
"What was that book in 2024 about the lighthouse?" Search across everything you've ever kept — titles, your notes, your tags — and pull it back in seconds. The longer you keep, the more there is to return to.

YOURS, AND ONLY YOURS
Everything stays on your device. No account to make. No sign-up wall. Open the app and start. Your taste is nobody's content but your own.

LOOK BACK
Now and then, the app quietly brings back something you kept a while ago — a year ago, a season ago. No notifications, no nagging — just a calm way to meet your own past words again.

The Keeping doesn't want your attention every day. It wants to be there, years from now, holding what mattered — in your own words.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-08-10

Your words, on your Home Screen. A new widget quietly holds a thought from your
keeping — the one the app would hand back to you, or simply your latest
reflection. Tap it, and the app opens that very thought. No notifications,
ever. Add it from the widget gallery.

Also in 1.1:

• Tap any tag on an entry to search your whole archive for it.
• The app now offers your own tags and creators back as you type — one tap to
  complete.
• Export your archive as a JSON file, and import it back on a new device. Your
  words remain yours.
• "Log a book in The Keeping" — Siri and Shortcuts can open the capture sheet
ready to write, for books, films, shows, and podcasts.
• Every entry now shows the date you kept it at the end of the page.
• Small refinements throughout, including a softer masthead in light and dark.

### 1.0 — 2026-07-09
